Celebrating 200 Videos With My Savage 220 A

Well I finally arrived at my 200th video. I thought it would be nice to celebrate with another vintage sporting arm....the Savage 220 A. Come along and lets explore this old single shot 410.

I have one of those in 16ga. It is a dynamite squirrel gun. It is Full choked and will blow a squirrel out of the top of the tallest trees. The Holy Grail is the 220 in the rarely seen 28ga, which I'd cheerfully kill to find a clean example of. After the 220 "A", they moved on to the "B", "C" and "D" series, which all featured minor changes and somewhat "cheapened" production methods, such as hardwood, instead of walnut stocks. They are all relatively hard to find these days, especially in nice shape. Congrats of the growth of your channel, I really enjoy it and am considering starting my own channel.

The 16 gauge is a fine shotgun. I recently acquired a Remington model 31 in 16 ga. I hope to make a video with it soon.

I have one of these in .410 that a friend asked me to try and repair. Unfortunately, he passed away before it was complete. It had several parts missing and would not lock up. I finally took it to a gunsmith who is now making the necessary repairs and is going to reblue the gun. When I return the gun to his family, it will hopefully be in almost new condition. Congratulations on your 200th video, I have immensely enjoyed your videos since discovering your channel about three years ago. Keep up the good work, my friend!!!

I probably mentioned it before, but one of the most rewarding aspects of having a youtube channel is the friends I gained along the way. I have enjoyed our chats on the phone and have always valued experiences we shared in our conversations.

I'm been looking for an old 28 gauge, single shot, from All Manufacturers. Have seen a few on GunBroker, but I'm not paying $500 bucks for one. I lost patients, so ordered a New Over/Under 28 gauge out of Turkey... Wish Me Luck 🤞

That's a great little 410. I have a similar firearm, Stevens Model 940E with an external hammer. I bought it used about 10 years ago and it's been a great little shooter. It has a blonde color stock and I'm thinking of refinishing to a dark walnut. I love single shot shotguns. Thanks for the video!

Cumberland Outdoorsman, I think that tea Savage is a fine hunting shotgun in anything but 410 bore. There just is not enough payload on target ( game ) beyond 25 yards. Most youngsters or women starting out would be much, much better served by a 20 gauge. My opinion only. Congratulations on your 200 videos . Have watched many of the 22 rimfire videos several times.👍🇺🇸✌🏻🙏🏽😎

Good morning Tom, Congratulations on your 200th video. Nice shotgun, I am a big fan of single shot firearms. I really wish Savage/Stevens would come back out with a new series of Model 24's in some popular cartridges ( maybe .38spl./.357mag , .223 , 30-30 or .350 legend etc, over a .410 , 20ga., or 12ga.) I know they have the model 42, but I don't like it, I prefer the old model 24's. Great video, thanks for sharing it with us. JT Barren County, KY

I have a Stevens model 94C that I've had since the 80's but it doesn't have a safety. My first firearm in the early 70's was a Revelation .410 single shot. Did a lot of squirrel hunting with both.

I have that same gun in 20ga. My dad bought it for me in 1968 when I was 12 years old. He paid $28.50 for it I still have it and always will even though I don’t hunt with it anymore I do take it out now and then just to shoot it. Thank you for your video and memories. God bless.
