So I have an 1100 12g my dad gave me in 1984, in 2000 when I turned 30, my grandfather gave me his 1100 20g he had purchased around 1965. I raised my girls learning to shoot on that old 20g. On my yt channel is a vid of my youngest 10yrs ago busting clays with it. So about 2 yrs ago, as my girls are grown and gone now, I gave that 20g to my youngest cousin who is raising his boys to hunt and shoot. I got 21 yrs of good times and memories with my kids, after having had 30 yrs with my grandfather with it... now his youngest grandson and kids get to enjoy it. Iam so blessed with the Remington 1100 experiences. Thx for sharing this vid. Keep em oiled, they will last a lifetime! That little 20 is looking at 60 yrs of faithful service!

I have an old Mossberg shotgun that my father bought new in the later 50's that I keep as a remebereance to him.. I also have an old Remington 742 that my wifes Grandfather bought in the early 60's as well as a Bernadelli side by side that he purchaswed in Italy in the 60's (I recently had this repaired and restored).. I agree that these old guns are how we keep our connection to our family and friends whom are nolonger here with us.

I don’t know why I watch this channel, every time I do I want to buy another gun!! 😂. I love them old Remingtons just as much as you. I have heard good things about the new pumps they are making also.

That just means you have good taste in guns. The older models just have a certain appeal that can't be matched by many of the newer guns on todays market.

I've been a Remington fan most of my life. Bought a couple 1100's in 2019, a '75 12ga ic & a '77 12ga full. Couldn't afford them when I was young but paid more for them when they were 40+ years old than they cost new! Remingtons just seem to fit me more naturally than any other brand and I love the older ones. Although it would be great if the company could regain its former reputation with new products. Great shotgun I have one year made 1966 3 inch full choke barrel 12 gauge

Have a model 1100 in left hand and a 11-87 in left hand ..used the 11-87 for ducks because of the 3 inch chamber and the 1100 in my young years for snowshoe rabbits and grouse hunting.. great shotguns..

The 1100 is a complete gem. I'd like to have one in 16ga or 20ga.. Thanks for showing..

We own a 12 gauge 1100, and a 16 gauge sportsman 58...we keep both guns operational and clean, you never know...the guns only see about a half dozen shells a year, just out of principle...shotguns just make me all warm and fuzzy...good video...

Indeed! Back when I quail hunted every chance I got, my shotguns saw allot more action. I am thinking about getting another English Setter and venturing out to find some quail

1100's put many meals on the table.

I had a beautiful 1100 12ga with vent rib and interchangeable choke tubes. Also had a deer slug barrel for it too. Like a dummy, I sold it to buy a Weatherby Mark V in .300 Weatherby, which I later sold off as well. Now, I own 2 1187's. A Premier and a special purpose, both 12ga. They are wonderful guns!

I’ve got a Sporrtsman’s 48 in 20 gauge made in 1949 and it’s really nice.

Them 48’s were great guns. I’ve hade a few but sold them, in my younger days that’s the only way I could afford to buy another gun was to trade in my old one, now I don’t want to sell anything just buy!!! 😂

Another great video with a blast from the past with the Model 58. I have owned, and still own, several 1100’s and 1187’s. I have always found them to be great guns from reliability, function, and accuracy standards. I have never owned a 48 or 58. May have to start the search, preferably for one in 16 gauge. I shoot trap almost weekly and use a lot of the Remington Gun Club shells, great product.

I have a 16 gauge in my sights. That's one gauge I never owned, but still appreciate very much.

Another great video! Reminds me of my days shooting trap back in the 1970's when I was young and had good eye/hand coordination. The Remington 1100 TB Trap gun was my favorite shotgun at that time. I have owned several 1100's during my shooting years and all were excellent shoguns. All were 12 ga. and shot extremely well if I did my part. Thanks for your excellent videos. Great video C Oman. I love my 58

I bought 2 Sportsman 58’s about 10 years ago. One was $125 and was recently parkerized, the other was $135, blued. Both in great condition. I bought a blued full choke 40” barrel for like $85, mint condition. Shortly after I bought the guns I noticed the prices went up, then way up for guns in less condition then mine. Timed that right 😁 They make great field guns. All Sportsman 58’s had the same roll marks on the receiver.

I had a Remington 878 auto produced from 59 till 63. Made after the model 58 and before the 1100.

Sorry to hear your hunting buddy is gone, but I know how that feels. Two years ago, I lost my older brother, and him and I spent several decades hunting and fishing together. Since the 1960's, He was an avid Remington 1100 fan, but he was a devout 16 gauge shooter. Now, I wish I had purchased a couple of the older 1100's in 20 and 12 gauge, for as I have become much older, the 12ga pumps tend to kick my shoulders a little too much. I do have a 20ga, but its in a light weight Winchester model 101 (1972) and kicks about as much as my 870's in 12ga.

20ga has become my favorite. Lighter gun, doesn’t punish you, more than adequate power & spread. The LT-1100 is a great gun.

I have a sp12 auto. Came with 28 in mod barrel. I installed a 24 in slug barrel with rifle sights. Absolutely love that thing it's my shtf shotgun.😊

Nice video got the model 58 in a 16 gage and it actually kicks pretty hard I like all your videos

Good morning Tom, great video, thanks for sharing it with us. I have a gas operated shotgun, I mean it's a single shot NEF/H&R 12ga., but I usually stop at Taco Bell before going to the range or out hunting, so it's kinda gas operated? 😂🤣jk Reminton used to make some really good quality firearms, but I don't think I'd trust a new Remington today. 11-48 or 48 Mohawk has much softer recoil than the 1100 or 58.

I have a really nice Mohawk 48. They are recoil operated that's why they are softer recoiling.
