Bob Milek a gun writer back in the 80s had a big rabbit hunt with several hunters. He made note of what guns and ammunition everyone was using and questioned everyone afterwards what the experience they had with hollow points and solids. The hollow points made a big difference. Many with the solid points and even when head shot made it down the holes out of reach. The hollow points killed them right on the spot.

He was a no BS writer. He could write very interesting articles without the marketing influence many others were caught up in. I am surprised we didn't see Billy Milek articles after Bobs passing.@@cw2a

I remember Bob Milek's articles very well. I can see his picture in my mind's eye wearing that western hat and shooting glasses. One of his favorite .22 rifles was the Remington 541S. A true legend!

I hunted squirrels ALOT as a kid in Pa.,....lots of squirrels, .... since spending near 3/4 my life of the 60 years old I am in the West, I don't dare hunt squirrels since the mommas are pregnant so my season for me ends by middle of December, I just don't take very many, 2,3,4 at the most,.....they are real treats to eat imo,....& Yes Sir, - very, very few squirrels compared to Pa.,...they just seemed to be by the thousands back east as a kid to when I was 17, the last time I hunted squirrels & the last time I hunted squirrels with my Dad....powerful memories !!!....

A really good video that covered a variety of scenarios encountered in the squirrel hunting woods. That old 69A really did a number on that last squirrel after you made that sight adjustment. You made some very valid points around the differences you encounter during the late season, to include food sources and the lack of foliage that impacts visibility for both the hunter and the targeted game.

g👀d morning ! Always a GR8 morning when a "new" Cumberland Outdoorsman video shows up . Ohio squirrel season ended Jan. 31 , so you extended my season . GR8 shots on proper trigger etiquette ! Excellent recommendations for possibles bag . Always good to Be Prepared . Gloves can also cover up that shiny watch face . And never be caught without your favorite knife . Sometimes the same ammo a rifle is sighted in with , will shift point of impact from a "different" lot ;-( Love your reminder on camo . Needs to match season and surroundings . You are definitely an experienced outdoorsman . Find the food , find the critter . Prepping now for next squirrel season , and turkey in April . How do you get to Carnegie Hall ? Practice , practice , practice . Best wishes for GR8 hunting 🍀

Great video again. Many good tips. I have a question though. I think camo helps but my state requires hunter orange for all firearm hunting but turkey and waterfowl. So blind may be a great idea, but wondered what your thoughts about squirrel seeing the hunter orange. could it be they are mainly noticing movement and noise? Glad to see that 69A out I still need to get the one I picked up out. Thanks

I'm far from C.O. (he's got an older cooking video, btw), but I put mine in a crockpot with some seasoning and water and cook until the meat falls off the bone then make a gravy and serve over rice or biscuits. But once you pick off the bone, you can use it for anything that you would use cooked chicken for-soups, stews, casseroles, tacos, etc.
