  Honestly, as someone who grew up with generations and colors, I’m really looking forward to the open zone stuff, my biggest issue with it is just how Frontiers handled it. They really could’ve done better with incorporating more traditional sonic elements in an open world experience. Don’t get me wrong, frontiers is good and a breath of fresh air, it just feels like a tech demo or an early alpha for something way better. Also they need to fix the sense of speed in the cyberspace levels those felt so sluggish at times especially the sky sanctuary one where you’re running up the crumbling tower that felt so slow and anticlimactic

  4:45 I disagree. At least the descent speed isn’t great. But it’s not the worst on a balancing sort of way. We are going to have worse Flying and Gliding than in other games to balance them selves with Sonic/Amy.

  1:27 I wouldn’t say it’s a mobile game at heart. Since it doesn’t fall into the same traps as many mobile games and free live service games do. Be grindy, long, repetitive, money hungry, fomo inducing, and many times, be not much of a game at all. I may love Cookie Run Kingdom in many ways, but it still features many problems that plagues mobile games. Dream Team is more like a quick handheld game.

  1:11 I disagree quite a lot. Aside from a controller being better. But the touch controls were still not that bad and really fun to play with. They aren’t perfect, but it’s better than you usually have. Which is good, because I literally don’t have any controllers I play mobile games with. Especially after messing up my PS4 controller when trying to reset it so it can actually connect to the console. (There’s left over toothpicks in the reset hole.)

  I am excited for what's to come in terms of gameplay, but I have grown to really dislike the way the characters are currently written. I do not like how Ian handles the franchise. Sonic stories used to be memorable because they were inspired, had themes, character arcs. Their characters used to represent things about us that we could connect with. Now they're all presented as a "cast" of mascots that say things because "that's what they would say". There is no intention to tell meaningful stories anymore. It's all just aimless interactions that insist upon the idea that you "recognize" these "mascots" and their "personalities". That's why sonic talks like any witty superhero nowadays, why knuckles says he likes to punch things, why tails makes long observations with smart words, why amy is not allowed to obsess over sonic anymore and is instead a generic "voice of reason". I am 90% sure that shadow's arc of abandoning his past (and maria's promise with it) will be completely retconned in favor of the overly recognizable shadow in SA2, because they want all of their characters to reach this static overly marketable limbo so they can shove them into anything they want to. Jebzone makes a pretty decent breakdown of these issues in his "Sonic Frontiers is the corruption of storytelling" video.

  The first time I saw, sonic it was probably when sonic unleashed yeah and I never played a song game in my life, but that game was fire. I was starting to grow up with sonic since that era of sonic I’m happy for what they’re doing for sonic sonic is going to be peak in his new game and other games as well. I hope they keep this sonic into the New Year’s.

  My only problem with how Sonic is right now lies with Sega and Sony themselves. Sonic Team clearly wants to bring back that 2000s edge we all loved and they're doing a good job at it. But it seems like Sega and Sony lately have been drifting into gold mining with all these packages, deluxe editions, missing pieces of content, questionable decisions and such. I feel like most of that influence comes from Sony seeing the state of Wukong and how they vouched for DB Sparking Zero to NOT have couch co-op. So as happy as I am with Sonic right now, I REALLY REALLY hope they don't fall into the EA pit.

  Personally, I have extensively enjoyed every recent Sonic release. However, I do not think any of the recent releases were good. Decent to alright maybe. I feel like many Sonic fans are desperate to see a Sonic game so good that everyone likes it. Unfortunately, we have yet to see that. Doesn't mean you can't like Sonic, just means recent games have not been up to standard compared to other *similar* AAA IPs, including Sega's.

  Sonic adventure isn't just one of my favorite games of all time, it has been an inspiration for me: in 2020, this game inspired me to start writing a mini science fiction anthology series (that I am still working on). Ask for my favorite story in the game, it is a tie between Tails and Sonic: the former because I have a soft spot for coming-of-age stories, and the latter because who doesn't love sticking it to mad scientists 😎

  He's definitely in a good place. I mean looking back at the time that Lost World, Boom, and Forces came out yes the state of the series itself and the backlash it got wasnt good at all. However I will always be in the camp that Lost World is a good game, so for me the only real bad Sonic games are Forces and 06 just because it's very unfinished. I like the Boom series, I liked the show and I hope they bring characters like Lyric over to the mainline series like they're doing with Sticks, but I won't deny the games had multiple issues with gameplay, writing, various things. In regards to Shadow Gen's gameplay, I don't think the VGC footage was bad or made the game look boring. They had said that the footage provided wasn't just for the gameplay but mostly to show the environments and how the game looked. Should they have only released that gameplay by itself? Probably not, honestly they should've released it and some other footage of morr engagaing gameplay. That and I've never really been a fan of gameplay without the hud, just doesn't look right and makes the game kinda look like it's in a beta or something. While I don't blame people for being skeptical after Forces, I very much do blame them for the whole seeing a straight line and immediately going "Forces level design" like many have unfortunately done lol. That is just flat out ridiculous, thankfully there have been many others who've proven and discussed otherwise. I'm extremely excited to play the game when it comes out. The way the Chaos Control mechanic is so interwoven in the level design, and Izuka stating that it is with every level with both that and Shadow's new Doom powers just has me itching to see more. They definitely put a lot of thought into the level design. The series and fanbase will always have their issues (especially the fanbase), but overall yeah Sonic is in a very very good spot that I'm so glad he's in.

  I feel like for Sonic as a whole franchise... Where the game crowd thought "This is the start of Sonic's new age", for me, HERE is where the real start is. Sonic X Shadow Generations is the true litmus test, not just for seeing what Sega can do with another form of Open Zone Gameplay, but also testing if people do want spin-off games focusing on the characters again. If Shadow, the second most popular character in the canon, can stand tall compared to his initial falter in 2005, Sega may trust making games with a focus on other characters, maybe testing some of the genres they could be in. If Shadow can succeed, maybe a Knuckles solo game can succeed. If Shadow can succeed, maybe Amy can have a solo outing (It would be cool considering Zelda and Peach are starring in their own games nowadays) If Shadow can succeed... Maybe we can see Blaze again, and Sega can trust in her spearheading her own solo game We're at a crossroads now, and while this is hopeful thinking, I like to imagine that if Shadow does it and showcases the world would wholeheartedly accept solo outings from the extended cast, then we can really see the series fly higher at the beginning of the series' One Way Dream.

  I think he’s doing a decent job rn. Although the only things I’ve been liking so far are superstars and the knuckles tv show. Everything else just sort of disappointed me, same for shadow generations. My favorite game ever is getting a remaster and it is barely changed and overshadowed by the newer campaign. Ik sonic would do good moving on but I’m starting to not care for him as much anymore.

  I think it was cool on paper but the reason the camera is pulled out so far is for visibility. I think it should change based on level segment rather than be like that all the time (kinda like gens)

  I'd definitely say that Sonic is in a better place now compared to when Forces came out. I'm really looking forward to playing Shadow Generations, especially with all the improvements to the animations, open-zone (more cohesive looking world), and level design. Sonic Team being experimental again is nice too, the quality just needs to remain high. I'm so glad we're at a point that our critiques are being heard and we can see those improvements being made. It genuinely feels like we're getting somewhere. There are still issues with the series, but hopefully with more people trying to push genuine and nuanced discussion Sonic can reach even greater heights.

  I'll die on this hill but I think Sonic Adventure translated Sonic's gameplay to 3D quite well and its unpolish has a certain charm to it that the series hasn't replicated since. It's an ironic game where I don't think I can honestly say it aged either good or bad...because it definitely shows of its time and yet still a game I rank pretty high in the series overall.

  I just 100% this game for the first time. Doing all emblems. Playing as Sonic learning all the skips semi on my own was so much fun. This is still my favorite Sonic game. I grew up on classics and love frontiers but this still my favorite and also don’t hate big. I can take him or leave him. Also favorite character is shadow. Ik socking my favorite character is shadow but SA1 still my favorite lol

  Im glad im not the only one who enjoys the DX port, and this is coming from someone who use to own a dreamcast and played that version to death. I have nostalgia for both versions but at the end of the day I find the DX port a little better, not to mention all the sonic gamegear games its packaged with! It was my first time playing any handheld games on the big screen!

  What exactly does SA3 mean to the community ? I mean, heroes and 06 could be SA3 and 4, or unleashed (who is called world adventure in japan) could too. I feel like something called "sonic adventure" is instantly good. If 06 was called SA3, would it still be the game who killed sonic ? Oh and SA1 and 2 are mid, but since they are the first 3d games, they are the best according to the community
