The Steam description for this games says that "Shadow's old nemesis, Black Doom, reemerges and plans to take over the world" so Black Doom is the primary antagonist of this. Izuka has also said in an article that this story will show more about Shadow's character and motivation as well as coincide with the main Generations story. My first thought is that Eggman tearing through time and opening rifts with the Time Eater caused Black Doom from the time of Shadow the Hedgehog to be thrown into the present time where present Shadow meets him again. Either way, this all looks awesome and im super excited.

I missed that in my initial recording of this video. I'm really glad to see them bringing back previous villains and utilizing those instead of Eggman being the big bad.

​@@Shadicstick Same, tho Eggman will always be the main/og Sonic villain ofc. Never want him to go away as a possibility for a main villain in any Sonic game. But making new or bringing back previous villains that haven't been around in a long time and in an actual believable way due to all the time shenanigans or whatever explanation they have I'll always be down for.

Yeah, I think an "Avengers Endgame" situation with a defeated villain popping up out of the past is the most obvious way for the story to go... but... given some of the visuals here and that it's been written by someone who certainly seems to like to leave their mark on established characters and expand on them, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a different explanation that ties into more recent lore. Either way, I'm expecting to get some kind of new wrinkle to the story ideas introduced in Frontiers -- probably something that will tie the Black Arms to the Ancients, but maybe something completely unexpected.

Basically Shadow's story in Sonic x Shadow Generations is the Magolor Epilogue but with Shadow as the main protagonist instead

I'm really looking forward to this remaster since it seems super promising. You can tell they are taking what they learned from Frontiers and applying it here, hopefully alongside with some improvements. I said this on Twitter, but this Shadow campaign can be a great way to introduce a new generation of Sonic fans to his character and story. The execution for story and gameplay just needs to be on point though for it to have some positive impact. I want this campaign to be a celebration of Shadow as a character, and I'm hoping that's what we get when it releases. They have so much to pull from SA2 and Shadow the Hedgehog to make something truly amazing.

No. You got it right. It's Final Chase. Final Rush is the one where you start from the rocket while Final Chase starts from the rail like in the trailer. So no need to correct yourself on something you got correct. Also, Black Doom is already canon since the Black Arms are mentioned in one of Eggman's memos.

I never thought they'd do something like this for Shadow, especially the Shadow game and bringing back Black Doom. I wonder if they'll put in the levels from Generations 3DS, that version is so ignored.

I'm hoping they do that while also reworking that content. I really love the 3DS version and it's sad that it gets so neglected.

Morio kshimoto has went on record to say they frontires is a 3rd generation sonic game and that for the 3d linear type titles they are going to incorporate some elements from frontires. Which is really crazy to me because I think they are 2 different engines and you can see that in shadow's jump and boost effect. There is about 7 months until it's release to I can't wait to see what else they show. I just want some quality of life changes. Like "some" movement customization. Also there where some early leaks of frontires where shadow would be traped as well in cyberspace. Of course this was not in the final game and neither was the sonic's amnesia storyline, but who knows if they had him included as a playable character? He is shown to use chaos control and chaos spear so they did tweaks those part of his controls so I hope they did at least touch on the movement. Even thought we did not see any long running segments.

Yeah I started noticing that the more I watched the trailer. I definitely hope they take some inspiration from the better cyberspace levels and do some of the stuff they did in the 3rd Frontiers update in this game. We'll have to see though.

Yep its the year of shadow with both this and the movie coming out soon. One thing I hope besides them adding stages from shadow the hedgehog is that they incorporate shadow's chaos abilities into his gameplay sort of like what sonic omens did where shadow could use his traditional abilities such as chaos spear, control, and blast throughout the stage. That would be really awesome since shadow's gameplay could be using the frontiers combat system.

I hope we get a mephilis boss fight

I sooooo want Mephiles representation in that shadow story too! Even if just a remade boss fight!

I'm not expecting him to appear at all but it could happen. Considering the Time Eater potentially being Mephiles, it makes sense

Yeah, definitely wouldn't be surprised to see a little more complication in the combat especially considering that Shadow's own fighting style in '06 is probably a closer precursor to what Sonic can do in Frontiers than the Werehog is. Based on the number of locations in the trailer, if they're trying to go for a similar progression formula to the base Generations I'd expect to see at least two locations from each of SA2, Heroes, and Shadow '05, and maybe a couple stages from Sonic '06 as well. And looking at the moodier atmosphere in the footage I'd definitely like to see Rail Canyon in there, or maybe Hang Castle :) Out of Shadow's own game I'd probably expect to see some level set on the Black Comet.

:o new thought but it's late If Shadow's mechanics are about more complex combat then he's gonna need beefier and more interesting enemies to give the player a chance to use that. If there will be two stages from Heroes (and that part is obviously just a guess), Lost Jungle and Egg Fleet are already full of tough enemies with interesting attack patterns and vulnerabilities.

The best thing would be if the Shadow voice would be replaced with the one in Prime

I think Kirk really does a great job in Forces. I definitely think the shift in Voice direction was an issue rather than the voices changing.

@@Shadicstick Personally I think his performance has been great in everything he's voiced Shadow in. But yeah especially Episode Shadow like holy, when he was tripping out in Infinite's virtual reality and having hallucinations of Rouge and Omega.

This game will probably be released around the time the Switch 2 comes out. So it will probably look very good on the Switch 2. We will soon get a Nintendo Direct so maybe it will be mentioned

the way they treat this game is almost as if the sonic and shadow parts are almost like two different games, in the game's description (at least on playstation) it says the game is "an all-new collection" and the description also sorta treats sonic generations as almost like an inclusion and not "Sonic Generations & shadow" the use of the words "collection" and "also includes" to me feels like they have some big hopes for this shadow campaign and it may actually me a little bigger than what we may suspect obviously this could just be fancy wording in the description to make it sounds bigger than it is but I do think it's interesting to point out
