    I'm in the UK, I've got a BMW X5 2005 e53 4.8is 98k on the clock, I've converted it to run on LPG and it's so much better than petrol and it hasn't lost any power or performance, I've changed the ignition coiks, installed a new xtrons head unit, installed a new id4motion instrument cluster, new battery, serviced the automatic transmission fluid and filter, changed the engine oil, new real lights, serviced the front and rear diffs, 4 new 20inch tyres front and rear, new front steering components, and the rear too, so the back tyres sit on the road correctly, my X5 4.8iS V8 as an absolute beast! 29 yrs old and it's the best car I've ever owned.

    Simplest and most useful video for this. Took me an hour start to finish. Hardest part is the rubber protector cap and inserting the part back up into the car. Just need this video and the usual patience. My air hose was able to pop out of the original part so I simply screwed it back into the new part. Literally saved $000s. Lower car slowly. at right height compressor will kick in while car is running. Thanks, Woody!

    THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THIS OUT THERE. MY X5 DIESEL 2014 NEEDS THE TIMING CHAIN REPLACED AT 120K MILES. THE BMW DEALERSHIP ESTIMATED ME FOR 14K TO DO. MY CONCERN IS THAT MY VEHICLE WAS VISITED FOR MAINTENANCE BY ONLY THE DEALERSHIP. ACCORDING TO AN OUTSIDE MECHANIC THAT SPECIALIZES ON BMW DIESEL, HE STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE OIL CHANGE WAS BEING REPLACED BY THE COMPUTER READOUT OF 10K MILES. IN ADDITION, THE STOP AND GO FEATURE CREATES TENSION TO THE TIMING CHAIN….LIKE HOW MUCH ARE YOU SAVING ON DIESEL FUEL WHEN CAR SHUT OFF FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS BEFORE IT TURNS ON TO PROCEED WITH DRIVING?? MY VEHICLE WILL BE FIXED AND WILL NOW GET OIL SERVICE EVERY 3,500 MILES.

    greetings! i follow you on youtube for all the tutorials, thanks for everything bro. i have a problem with a 2010 bmw e70 x5 n52 6hp19 transmission, i would really appreciate it if you gave me your opinion. the jeep sat for a long time without being used, now we started using it and the transmission started to work weird until yesterday when i tried to put it in drive the gear lever would go forward a little and the lever would go over P by itself, when i try to put it in reverse i accelerate to 3,000 rpm and it moves a little slowly and the lever would go back to P by itself. i scanned it with my equipment and the dtc code it gives me is 4f97 ratio monitoring clutch B-D and in the vtg transferbox 54c6 oil wear. i was investigating and i see that this problem is said to be corrected with the mechatronics repair kit that includes some seals and the transmission oil pan. I would like to know if the problem is really solved with this or if I have to change the transmission completely because I don't have much money and I don't want to waste time and money on the kit and oil and have to change the transmission anyway. I would really appreciate your opinion, brother. Thanks!

    Hopefully you replaced those o-rings on those oil lines. Great video. The plastics on european cars all had to be made under thier very strict biodegradable regulations. Its unfortunate because many of thier gaskets and engine components are made of plastic, not to mention all the interior components. Since the engine gets so hot and the engine compartment, all the plastic components age twice as fast at least. It really hurts the reliability and reputation of thier vehicles. The poor 7 series is probably suffered from this the most. In most case, they were totaled out due to repair cost.

    Polluting punk - "Deleting a diesel isn’t just ill-advised; it’s a federal crime. Tampering with a vehicle’s emission system is a direct violation of federal law, even if you live in a state or county without annual or biannual emissions testing. If you’re caught driving a deleted diesel truck, you could face fines of up to $5,000 per non-emissions part! If you own a business selling/installing emissions defeat devices, those fines can increase to seven figures!" You've been reported to the authorities.

    My son and I just tackled this project over the weekend on hid X5. This video gave me anxiety leading into the project. LOL!! A couple of things we did different. Remove passenger wheel and fender liner, it will give you access to some of the engine mount bolts. We only removed the engine mount, we did not mess with the subframe. We also removed the heat shielding which made a lot more room. We also found loosening up the DEF (precat) so you could move it around and out of your way helped a lot. The motor mount bolts were fairly easy to remove and install once we positioned the precat out of the way. I used a prybar to lift the motor mount bracket to the engine off the actual mount point. I tallied up the time suck, we spent 18 hours doing this. If we had to do it again, now knowing all the tricks we could cut a few hours off that time. Tools that were a godsend: We purchased come hose pinch off pliers to use on the coolant hoses. This minimized coolant loss. We also purchased a exhaust cut off tool which looks like pliers with a chain on them. I was amazed it worked so well, we made 2 cuts one to shorten the stock exhaust before we put it back in. A second to cut to size. Of course, have long extensions on hand, and some universal swivel attachments. Our only issue at this point is the Tunezilla module will not flash the UCE. We put the car on trickle charge overnight and hope that is the issue. We are also downloading the tune again hoping maybe it was corrupted.

    I took my F10 3.0 to the local shop where they do non-invasive decarbonization for diesels. They use a special machine for it, a hose goes into the air intake past the filter and uses some kind of aerosol detergent that's not harmful to the cylinder lining. The car runs on idle for about an hour like that, with intermitent increases in revs. After the procedure is done it's supposed to have 'washed off' any carbon build up which then goes down the exhaust manifold and into the exhaust as an almost black liquid. Not sure how effective it would be in this example because there's just too much of it but I'm hoping with regular decarbonizations I can prevent this scenario from ever happening.

    That's a lot of work! We, who are about to drive, salute you! 😂 (extra points for getting the reference) In all seriousness though, I got this engine in my 2015 F10 530d (that I love to death) and its chains are in excellent condition at 210k kilometers or so (immaculate service history by 2 German owners), but I'm still very curious as to how the whole procedure goes because I can't just sit and watch at the repair shop that I service my beemer at. Thanks a lot for sharing this! ❤

  • @Assimilator1
    @Assimilator1Ай бұрын

    Ah you sure it's ok? I thought my 2010 330d N57's (145k miles) chain was ok (full service history, factory change intervals) until I happened to be listening for a running problem after a long journey. So I only heard my chain making a modest rhythmic scraping noise with the drivers door open and revving the engine to ~2k RPM, and like I said, with a hot engine.

  • @mickeypopa
    @mickeypopaАй бұрын

    @@Assimilator1 Yep, I'm sure. The slack on my chains was recently checked with a specialized tool by BMW. They have less than 1mm slack with 12mm being maximum allowed before chains having to be replaced. BTW factory interval was too long in 2010, that's why BMW revised it for 2013 onwards (was 15k miles, then 10k miles which is still too much in mine and many others' opinion). I change oil at around 10k kms (6.5k miles). Engine oil is life blood of an engine, it needs to be as fresh as can be. I know that engine oils have come a long way and that additive packages in them are better but the base oils are still more or less the same, and they are subjected to enormous stress of modern high compression, high power output diesel engines. Personally, I'd rather spend a bit more money for maintenance each year than a lot more for chain replacement or even engine rebuild/replacement if things happen to go catastrophically bad all of a sudden.
