Not in a dogfight, but coming into the merge. Very easy to see an F-4 approaching the merge with a heavy smoke trail. This mostly disappeared with the F-4S model.

Seeing them fly with the blue angels, started my love affair with this beauty. Then joined the Navy and was fortunate to work on them in one of the last active Navy squadrons in Japan. I definitely do miss being around them and working on them. They will be missed.

There are two companies in Poland that have refitting/updating Phantoms for more than a DECADE! THE LAST PHANTOM HASN'T EVEN BEEN THOUGHT ABOUT YET! The next generation. Phantoms are JUST as mean evil, and NASTY to fight as they have for more than 60 years

I'm surprised at the small rules and the small (but potentially disastrous) omissions. Why is chewing gum allowed? You're wearing an oxygen mask. Negative Gs can make you pass out. You don't need gum in your mouth.

I grew up with Phantoms overhead a few times a week outside St Louis. seen many flying as they left the build hanger here. Been to a few of the countrys still using them and saw them then as well. probably my favorite plane just because it was so ugly it became pretty lol

The Nebraska Air Guard flew RF-4C's for years. I loved listening to them take off! You could hear them from miles away! They are my favorite Jet fighter of all time!

I cut my teeth on the F-14 Tomcat. Loved it. But also worked on F-4Bs,Ns, and Ss. And the F-4's were still the badest,meanest looking plane in the US arsenal. They still hold that title for me.

Since the Phantom there have been some great aircraft to follow. However none of them excite me as much as the F4 Phantom did. The sound of those twin GE J79 engines are one of a kind.

Use to go to the flight deck at Bunker Hill Air Force Base ( Changed name in 1968 to Grissom Air Force Base ) and watch the B52's and F4 Taking off and landing.
