MACH LOOP SCREAMING F-35s -4K
Ғылым және технология
The weather looked promising this week so it was time to dust the cobwebs off the cameras and chance my luck in a very quiet Mach Loop. The locals in their Texans kept the camera shutters clicking until the United States Air Force sent us some F-35 lightnings from RAF Lakenheath.
Thanks for watching.

It gets to the point when you run out of words. You just look, listen, and feel.

Another grey and by the looks of it perishing cold day in Wales! Even now I can’t get over how un-stealth like those wingtip vortices are. Great footage as always Dafydd thanks.

If you're close enough to see momentary vapor spirals, then stealth is no longer a factor.

The f-35 is absolutely beautiful in the air. Can’t wait for block 4 updates to be installed and operational. It’s a game changer.
Nice to see the T-6s also. I write the manuals for them. Love the paint scheme the RAF puts on them. Cheers!

Been hearing them all week buzzing my house out on the coast going right over the top can some one ask them to move out to sea just a smidge when they go down the coast and go past the window so i can wave LOL. Love the sound the F35 make and the Texans sound like there lining us up for a gun run LOL
Great videos and stills, especially with the snowy backdrop.

Interesting sensor package on one of those F-35’s,) And as always, best outro in the business!
Thanks Dafydd, I've always visualised the noise as the leading edges tearing through the atmosphere. It's a unique sound they make. And you can keep that snow business thank you very much. ✌🇦🇺

Lovely shots Dafydd, was lovely meeting you at the end of January there up Cad east (granted the USAF 35s weren't quite as low). But your advice to stick around made for a memorable first visit and part 2s booked for May🙈 (addicted)

Very nice. I love the stills as well. Some info on the tail markings, for those interested. These are F-35A from RAF Lakenheath, as mentioned, which is northeast of London. The "LN" is the tail code for the 48th Fighter Wing. And they're most likely from the 493rd Fighter Squadron, nicknamed the Grim Reapers. Or the 495th Fighter Squadron, nicknamed the Valkyries, the USAF's first overseas F-35A Lightning II squadron. Notice the tail numbers, first two digits "20" is the fiscal year they were ordered. And of course the actual serial numbers 5599 & 5614.

Awesome to see a mix of prop and jets. Not sure if the prop jocks are pilots in training but what incentive to follow an F-35 through the LOOP!
@DafyddPhillips
3 ай бұрын
Many thanks ray, the prop jets are the RAF Training for their next the which will be typhoon or F-35B.
Fantastic. It's been a while - seems like something had caused me to receive no notifications for quite a while, and I simply didn't notice. Looks like I've got a lot of catching up to do.
What are these things made of! The material looks so alien haha
Awesome video as always. Great work!! If you mind me asking but what type of video cameras you running on top your full frame cameras. I see a couple of different ones.

From an engineer who worked on these in development, his exact words are this: "The F-35 will be the last manned fighter jet to be built by the USA". Interesting comment

Are the Texans privately owned planes? For some reason I assumed this route was off limits to non-military aircraft.
@DafyddPhillips
3 ай бұрын
These are owned by the RAF and based in Valley on Anglesey.
@DafyddPhillips Do you see any RAF F-35B jets in the Mach Loop?
@DafyddPhillips
2 ай бұрын
They have started to visit us over the last six months or so.
As ex RAF aircrew have any of you camera types ever thought about stopping taking photos and thought about strapping in and being photographed? Trust me, it's a buzz you will want for the rest of your life
Not a big fan of the F-35, am a BIG fan of the Mach loop an the woo ho hooes. :)
I only think of the Loop for training purposes, am I wrong? That said the older prop planes confuse me? Anybody explain the details of why they fly “with” the F35’s?
@Spectator1959

The Texan II T-6 is a turboprop trainer aircraft used by the USAF, USN, and the RAF (who calls it the T-1) for primary jet pilot training.
@DafyddPhillips
3 ай бұрын
No you are correct, it is a military training area. The Texans and F-35s don’t fly together, just use the same routes. Thanks for watching
@Spectator1959

Also the Texans are not really “older,” they were designed in the 1990s by Raytheon based on the Pilatus PC-9. The RAF got their first Texans in 2019.
