Found your channel right before our first NCL cruise [Pearl/Adriatic/Greece]. VERY IMPORTANT- IF Purchasing air tix with NCL, we did save us a ton (half the cost of commercially available flights at the same time- July/high season) but you HAVE to upgrade any status, WHEN YOU BOOK the flight. YOU CANNOT upgrade after that magic 'window' of xx number of days prior, and the airline will NOT LET YOU UPGRADE even seats, even if they are available for additional $$. So, we were/are stuck in cramped economy seats, and no one explained that to us at time of booking with NCL. Thank God we will arrive two days prior to the cruise, and can get over jet lag. But, I'll say this - NCL nickels and dimes you to death. Viking had no such malarkey- and we got a KING bed on our last Viking cruise, not two twins in a balcony (!) cabin...just saying.
Definitely want to take some pictures in that Skyy bar
Need 100 shares hear $180 so $18,000 to get discount not for me
will there be a humidor?
Ncl used to give away wet naps with the chicken wings. They don't anymore. Cheap. Cheap. Cheap. I also think it's a part of their cost-cutting measures that they move to a lower quality chicken wing they look like Frankenstein wings now
Grant may want to revisit this in 2024. NCL now have solo balconies and ocean view cabins-and you still have access to the solo lounge and amenities. I booked a solo balcony for 2025 on the Getaway.
I’m taking my first solo cruise in Studio cabin on NCL Aqua May 2025
Just got off the Bliss and found the Local to be very hit and miss. The spin/art. dip is more like queso dip. My wife had the chicken wings once and they were just terrible (fatty.) Her nachos were not very good either, but later, I got them and they were good. She got the hot dog once and it was ok. I got the fish and chips once late and they were ok but after having fish and chips in Juneau, they were kind of meh. I thought that the Reuben and the bleu burger were very good. My favorite was the Hot Fudge Sundae.
Please tell me the pho is on the getaway?????
Carnival may be considered low level to many, but at least they had many more shows. The shows of the guests were even more hilarious 😂. If you know what I mean.
It makes sense that if people are using their specialty dining package for everywhere else that something needed to be done about this. Switching it over and making adaptations for it to be complimentary dining makes a lot of sense.
LaCunnia should be either be free or only cost $5.
I just went on the Norwegian Vibe which would be the sister ship to the Aqua. We were on a Europe trip that was amazing. Our cruise was 3400 capacity of 3500 and really I never felt that the ship was over poullation. We did do specialty dinning so maybe we did not feel the rush of dinner. The ship was amazing!!!!!!
Norwegian Viva oops
I’m team Savor and Taste. Might go to buffet at “off” hours to void all the hogs at the trough and only MDR if Taste and Savor are too busy. On occasion I’ve had a light meal in the Observation Lounge from the offerings there. I do frequent the Local late evening for a bedtime snack. On a week cruise I’ll usually eat at Specialty restaurants two nights. Sometimes the solo cruise director will arrange tables so we can be seated without delay.
The Norwegian Getaway was a horrific experience. It was dark and dingy. A man that's lives on the ship tried to steal my luggage as I was boarding. He followed me to my room. When I reported it they refused to take an official report. Why, because they were I believe prejudice. They followed African-Americans around the ship. At Bingo they played a song with the N word in it. When I told them, they said most people don't realize the word in the song. And on and on and on .............
Thanks again for the helpful information! There was a Father's Day deal called Cruisefirst where a $250 deposit turns into a $500 credit on a cruise you book later. 10 minutes later we were booking our FIRST NCL CRUISE!!!! Very excited and since it is in November we don't have a long wait. In the last 4 years we have cruised in late January or late February so this will be our first time doing a Caribbean cruise in November. Have you done one in November?
Hi Ry Guy 👋 Congratulations! That all happened pretty quickly. You're right November is just around the corner. I can't believe it's already June. Which ship will you be sailing on for your first cruise? I have done one Caribbean cruise end of year, last year I was on the Getaway in late November. In general things were good, but it also coincided with a big storm that meant we didn't stop in Bermuda. Hopefully the weather is calmer this coming fall.
@@CruisewithGrant We are starting our NCL cruising experience with 7 nights on the Epic. We went back and forth between the Epic in November and the Epic or Encore in February 2025. The price savings plus being able to cruise sooner had us landing on November 9-16 of this year. We hate not having a countdown to our next cruise going so once we start looking at cruises we decide pretty quickly what we want to try next. We've not been to Puerta Plata, Tortola, or St. Thomas so this itinerary was perfect. Stirrup Cay looks so much more enticing than DCL's Castaway and the Beatle's music definitely helped sway my wife over to trying a new cruise line. Going out of Port Canaveral means we can do a day at Disney to make her happy and get her Mickey/Minnie fix lol!
Veteran NCL cruisers here and recently had an 11 day cruise on the Prima. I would say the balcony cabins were spacious and as nice as any we have been in. The comedy club and Syd Norman's were small and crowded, as was the buffet, which to me, is inexcusable. NCL has data from its other larger ships on how many people per thousand (or percentages) are at any venue at any time. How do you design a ship for 3200 passengers and think that only 70 would want to see a comedy show? How is that even possible? The upper deck swimming pool area is far too small for the number of people that would like to be there, and enjoy the music and the sun. Even people, who can use the Beach Club or the Haven, want to be there for the music, and there is no way enough room. The outdoor area on deck 8 is very nice for quiet sunning, reading and enjoying a beverage, but does not pull enough people away from the top deck to avoid crowding. The theater was fine for the shows and the seat were more comfortable than on other ships. The nightclub was well done there. The biggest disappointment is the atrium. The style is clean and elegant, but the layout and functionality is horrible. The front and center position in the atrium is a stairway, with flanking elevators. The small performance stage is tucked back in the port corner on the on deck 6, so no one on decks 7 and 8 can see the performers. The seating area on 6 was small and the staff had to put out folding chairs. A couple of times, they made a small "stage" in front of the stairway, and when the performers were there, people lined all 3 decks to listen and watch and enjoy the show. This is how an atrium should be done and has been on all the other 23 ships we have been on. there is also no food available at the atrium, just Starbucks. Other ships have the Local or O'Sheehan's so people can hang out there for a long time. If I were in charge and was managing a billion dollar project like that, the marine architect, and every executive who sign off on such ridiculous design elements, would be fired.
I booked that cruise in For August 2025 a bermuda cruise, I booked a studio solo stateroom, and my friend booked a solo studio stateroom right beside mine, if you go, than I can give you a tour of the studio stateroom and the studio lounge that only solo guest have access,
My wife and I just started cruising 4 years ago and have only done Disney cruises so we've watched tons of helpful videos to navigate cruises and cruise ships with DCL. And now we are looking at other cruise lines, especially Norwegian. It is EXTREMELY helpful having people like yourself providing the important content we need to make the right choices on a new cruise line. Thank you!!!!
Hi Ry Guy 👋 Thanks so much for the kind words! I felt the same as I was first getting into cruising and wanted to pay forward all of the great tips and advice that I received from other seasoned cruisers. I'm so glad that they videos have helped! I hope that you're having a wonderful day!
@@CruisewithGrant It takes off a load of stress for sure in the planning process having people pay it forward like that. I'm able to wing it a little but that's not how my wife prefers lol!
Do THEY STILL PLAN TO HAVE THE Vibe?
Just returned from a Alaskan cruise on the Sun. Great time and food the heads were out dated but worked great. Our only complaint was the smoking in the casino. It drifted into the antrum. I hate the smell and it just isn't healthy for the folks that work in it or customers. They are great other than that.
I only cruise on norwegian. I been on several cruises but I really like your videos. Super informative and understandable. Thank you happy cruising
This sounds like a fun time!
Love to try the vegetarian/ veggie restaurant option. Glad they are extending some venues. Hope they make the pool area and music and Sid Norman venues larger.
The milkshakes were awful. Using syrup instead of real fruit was just disgusting. They were inedible and not only were they super sweet they were warm. They need to relook at that space altogether.
My favorite buffet item from the last NCL cruise I took was the hashbrowns at breakfast! I was ambitious and signed up for early morning workout classes. Going to the buffet and getting a big helping of scrambled eggs and hashbrowns after a workout was awesome! 😂
Hi Allison 👋 I've always wondered why the gym and the buffet are seemingly always on the same deck 😉 so hard to avoid some of those temptations. Sounds like you've struck the perfect balance! I hope that you're having a super day!
Every ship i have tried to book. Has shown unavailable. Waiting for 2026 schedules. I want to do Spain-Italy-maybe Greece. Tired of paying double as i have the last 4 RCCL cruises.
Your videos are so helpful for my upcoming trip, thanks!
Hi Sophia 👋 Thank you so much! It's always nice to hear when my videos have helped. Will you be sailing on the Getaway or another NCL ship?
@@CruisewithGrant yes, I’ll be embarking on the Getaway this weekend on a Mediterranean cruise!🥳
