I was told by NCL (twice), if you’re visiting a Canadian port embarking from a US port, precovid testing is STILL required to board. The Canadian government still requires precovid testing if you are visiting a Canadian port (per the Canadian government website).

Yup. And don't forget to do ArriveCan BEFORE embarkation. You can put in your basic traveller info anytime and then add the method and date of entry within 48hrs of embarkation.

Thanks David for sharing. Checking the requirements for the country of departure and stops for the cruise is important. Adding this link here (also in the video description). www.ncl.com/ca/en/travel-requirements-by-country

Can you please make a video on how their internet is on NCL cruises? Can digital nomads do work from their internet service? Is it fast enough to be able to send emails/load web pages consistently? Thanks!

This is good news. We cruised from Vancouver to Alaska in May and having to get an approved covid test added another stress. Despite all the testing and vaccinations, my partner and I both came home with covid. Thanks to being fully boostered, our symptoms were mild. We have subscribed to your channel since we are big Norwegian fans. Our cruise in May was actually on the Royal Princess because when we booked it, Norwegian was only cruising to Alaska from Seattle and we didn't want to fly to the States. (We are in Toronto.) We were not impressed by Princess, so we will stick with Norwegian.

Thanks Michael for sharing your experience. I'm sorry to hear that you both got COVID, I hope that you're fully recovered and feeling good. Thank you also so much for subscribing, I really am so appreciative for all of the kinds words and support that I've received since starting this channel, just in February! (also great to have hometown support!) 🫶

Awesome!! I can't be vaccinated for a cruise due to my disabilities. Neither my son or husband, can be, either. I also travel with a service dog so I have to have my paperwork in long before I could get notice of if I'm granted a medical exemption for the cruise. So even if I get refunded for the cruise, I'd still be out of a lot of money for my SD's paperwork for each port. Looks like we'll be looking into NCL for our family cruise we are looking at in the next year.

But NCL states we need to do the testing 48 to 72 hrs (depending on the type of test you are doing) before our cruise that is stopping in Victoria because Canada requires it. If you look on ArriveCAN it's very confusing. One area it states you need to be tested if you are traveling by cruise ship and in another area, it states you don't. Wish Arrive Canada would clarify and NCL updates their statement about needing one.

I am on the fence with these changes. I am fully vaxxed and am not naïve to think I am impervious. Although inconvenient and expensive, testing gave some peace of mind. However, as a Canadian, needing to test in advance of a NYC departure was posing a logistics problem. We will be flying 48hrs pre-cruise so that would necessitate a test in New York. Where, How to get there and Price were our hurdles. So, I am glad to not have to figure that out now. I feel that the peace of mind that all passengers have been tested prior to our 12 days aboard outweighs the inconvenience of it. Fingers crossed we stay healthy.

@@joannbanks9963 even for Canadians? When I looked into Walgreens/CVS it was going to be very expensive for us. Also, finding a location near our hotel that wasn't a "drive-thru" was difficult online. I had decided our best option was an online proctored home test we carried with us.

My wife and I both followed all protocols for our cruise to Bermuda back in August left out of NYC and returned home with Covid. We both are fully vaccinated, up to date with boosters and still caught Covid on the ship. The symptoms were mild but still we caught Covid. Put your mask on when in elevators. Good luck and enjoy your cruise.
