I think one of the best pros of the Local/OSheans is the ease of eating there. I believe many cruisers just do not remember or even know they serve breakfast. I can usually get in and out rather quickly and I don't have to hover over others waiting for a table to open up in the buffet area.

Hi Belinda 👋 Thanks for the comment. I couldn't agree more. My usual cruise boarding day looks something like drop bags, and get the heck to O'Sheehan's / The Local. It really truly is my comfy / cozy place on board.

We never eat at the buffet one of the many things we love about Norwegian. The fruit salad is great! I hope the bring the round hash browns back. The Taste and Savor have great eggs benedict. Oatmeal on a cruise….would never consider it. LOL

I was just on Norwegian in Asia the first two weeks of january. We did oscheans almost every morning for breakfast because it was made fresh and hot compared to the buffet and much quicker than the dining rooms. Your spot on with the order of things you like and did not like the French toast was definitely my favorite.

I love NCLs selection of teas, my favorite is the Chai, although hard to find. Totally agree, the oatmeal is watery, even in the buffet! I prefer it thicker. And my favorite breakfast on ship is an omelette. Thank you for all your good tips👍

Oh my, loooove NCL Gem! Although older and smaller, it's a beautiful ship (love the pastel colour scheme on the top outside decks!) And although she doesn't have the big water slides and fun-adventurous hoopla like the ones on the newer and bigger ships, I still had a wonderful experience on her ... I love, love, love the separate open/outdoor buffet at the back of the ship (the 'Great Outdoors') ... enjoyed my breakfast there every morning! I imagine you enjoyed the ship as much as I did! 😊

Grant I love your channel! Breakfast is my favorite meal so I’m going to make lots of notes while watching this. This fall we are taking NCL’s Hawaii cruise on the Pride of America, and I think their 24-hour restaurant is the Cadillac Diner.

GREAT video!!! Going on my first ever NCL cruise and this gets me very excited. Love the concept and ability of getting breakfast at O'Sheehan's. I'm sure this will be my favorite spot!

@@CruisewithGrant the PANAMA CANAL! This cruise is 32-nights from Tampa to Alaska ending in Vancouver, with several stops I've never been to like Cabo San Lucas and Acapulco, plus a couple of other old favorites like San Francisco and LA. Very much looking forward to the 10+ days of Alaska too!

Just got off the Prima and found the help yourself breakfast in the Indulge Food Hall was fantastic! Hardly crowded at all, unlike the very crowded buffet, breakfast was wonderful! The Local was a bit small and hidden on the Prima so we only went once for a late night order of wings (which were delicious) 😊

Thank you! We sail on the Prima in June and have an early morning excursion. Grab and go breakfast will come in handy!

I think eating their at 5am for breakfast works well for early risers so you have plenty of time to digest before going on excursions or to the gym early. The gym is to make room for all the delicious food you will be eating so you don't disembark weighing 500lbs.

On the Pearl in 10 days! Will definitely hit O’Sheans for breakfast!

Definitely NOT leaving yolks out. Yolks have so many good nutrients and fats. Wonder if you can get peanut butter for the oatmeal. Simple fix to thicken and add good protein and fat. I'd bring a scoop of peanut butter protein powder/pbfit powder to do the thickening.

Yolks have so many good nutrients and fats." *Absolutely* agree! 💯👍 I wanted to but wasn't going to comment on his sharing about his dietary restriction with eggs [because this is a cruise info channel rather than a dietary/nutritional channel] ... yet I am glad that you did. 😊 More contemporary studies have proven that high blood cholesterol is NOT contributed by eating eggs or even saturated fats (there are other more complex mechanism that are contributing factors). Egg is a very nutrient-dense super-food *by virtue of its yolk* ... without it, the egg [white] is just a bunch of protein. 🤷

Breakfast was one of the weakest of the meals I ate. I am cruising NCL in June. I didn’t know Osheen’s served breakfast! 😮

On the Sun they did not open the Local until 5 pm every day do no breakfast for me😢 well great breakfast in dining room instead🎉

My fave breakfast spot, and I thought is was a bit of a secret😼

I was on Norwegian Sky in June of 2022 I was very disappointed with the local they were closed for breakfast and lunch even though it was a sold-out ship they opened at 6 p.m. and they closed at 2 a.m. not 24 hours no lunch no breakfast very disappointed

I'm curious if anyone else CANNOT do sweet things for breakfast? It's good to see Norwegian have a good balance of savoury and sweet.

My husband and I love O Sheehans , we love to sit at the bar have a drink and have a huge basket of yummy French fries 🍟

Hi Wendy 👋 I agree, grabbing a late night (or mid afternoon haha) basket of fries is just too tempting, but delish!

I love some good brioche French toast it is probably the only reason I actually bake brioche bread lol. I'm glad you mentioned the bit about oatmeal. I like it a lot but I am very particular about how I eat it and so watery would not make me happy. I'm in the final countdown for my cruise in April and getting more excited by the day. I’m going in 3 weeks on the Bliss to Alaska. I was planning on MDR for eggs Benedict (my favorite) for any mornings that are at sea and room service for any mornings with an early excursion, but now I wanna figure out a time to try the Local’s breakfast at least once. Looks good and relaxed! I love that there are seats at the Local that overlook the atrium for people watching.

Hi Tracy 👋 I was searching for your question because it just so happens that by accident they served me decaf tea the other night. So I’m happy to be able to answer your question (I thought of you right away!) They serve it in the restaurants but I also saw it in the buffet. Hope this helps! ☺️

I would get a second opinion about the egg yolks. They are one of the most nutritious food.

Hey Grant! I'm an omelet girl, and love to have them made with whites only, so thanks for that. I do like corned beef hash, but it needs to be made from scratch and not from the stuff in a can. That didn't look very appetizing to me, so I'm sure I will skip it. Like you, I prefer the thicker oatmeal, so I will more than likely pass on it as well. Lee Anne - I loved the corned beef hash in the Local. It is made from scratch - I ordered it with over easy eggs and put them on top.

Hi Naenae 👋 No silly questions! So the official answer is "no", but in practice they won't stop you from taking food back to your room from the buffet. They may give you a little bit more hassle takin food from the specialty dining / dining rooms, but a little charm goes a long way 😉 Yay for your first every cruise!! I know you'll have a great time. I tend to prefer my meals at the buffer (I've always love buffets even on land--loooove those all-you-can-eat buffets 😋) ... and I've often bring food (mostly desserts) and beverages back to my cabin with no problem and no one looked at me funny. Nevertheless, I can understand why bringing back Specialty Restaurant food would be "flown upon", but I guess if you can't finish your entrée and want to take the leftover away as a "doggie bag" or may be even take away a dessert, I see no reason why it's not "kosher" ... but then this I hadn't tried. If you did [try], then please share your experience. 🙏 BTW, my experience was only on NCL ships ... don't know about other cruise lines.

It's been a few years since I've cruised with NCL, but last time O'Sheehan's only offered soft drinks late.

Oatmeal should be thick enough to stand on.

Are you allowed to take leftovers back to your room? Like say for example you wanted to get an extra bagel to take with you on an excursion, is that possible?

Hi there 👋 Thanks for the comment. The official answer is no, the staff are not supposed to let folks take food way; but the practical answer is that they will often look the other way. I sometimes will bring small tupperware or zip lock bags to take a snack for longer excursions that don't include a meal. Hope this is helpful!

The sausages are very hit and miss.

Heard some NCL ships bars do not offer straws with any drinks. Do you know if the Bliss currently offers straws with any drinks? Asking as some ppl say to pack straws.
