God allowed Noah to eat meat because he wasn't going to interfere with Noah's free will to do so. It was a disappoint when Noah sacrificed after getting off the ark. God smelled the sweet odor of burnt flesh and contemplated what Noah was doing. 🤔 God was done with cursing the ground anymore for man's sake because the imagination of man's heart is evil...from his youth. He was probably thinking, Even my favored Noah doesn't start anew on this freshly cleansed earth i have just given him. Even he is starting over with the spilling of blood 😢. The rules of the garden of Eden...to eat only vegetation doesn't register with Noah. I would think God was disappointed. But God in his mercy and love, let the issue go, Noah has free will. So God blessed Noah and with it gave him rules for how to kill and drain blood because he didn't want man to taste, eat or lust for blood. Not exactly sure why but maybe eating Blood creates insensitivity towards other beings, even towards our own species. Anyway, this is in Gen 8:21 thru parts of chapter 9 and thats all I'm interested in saying about this subject because people are not empathetic enough to give this thought any consideration.

I'm so happy Kam actually read the book at the end and hit the spot. Tony's spiritual connection to the killed/killing animals is nothing but his own unexpressed anger and grief about what happened in his personal life. Nothing spiritual about it but definitely delusional and big denial. Grief your pain away Tony and leave the animals alone, time to evolve. Even a child can answer this simple question - how would Jesus kill an animal.... Your heart became a heart of stone.

The Nasareans (Essenes) were an ancient, Enochian Jewish sect living in Judaea between the second century BC and the first century AD, who were strict vegetarians. The Essenes ate a simple diet of fresh fruit, vegetables, barley, wheat, almonds, carob beans, milk and wild honey - which they claimed would keep you healthy and lengthen your life. **"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. He will be eating curds and honey when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right." - Isaiah 7:14-16** Essenes were forbidden from swearing oaths and from sacrificing animals. They controlled their tempers and served as channels of peace, carrying weapons only for protection against robbers. **"Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’ But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one." - Matthew 5:33-37** The Essenes chose not to possess slaves but instead, served each other and, as a result of communal ownership, did not engage in trading. **"If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you." - Matthew 5:41-42** The Essenes had various rituals such as communion, water rituals such as baptism and towards the end of the 3 year initiation period they would spend 40 days in the wilderness. **"Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by (a) the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry." - Matthew 4:1-3** In Essene communities, divorce was forbidden. Essenes had some important creeds, here are their 2 main creeds; 1, seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. 2, lay up not for yourself treasures on earth but lay up for yourself treasures in heaven. **"Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." - Matthew 6:31-33** **" Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." - Matthew 6:19-21** During Passover Essene communities didn't eat lamb, they consumed bread and wine. The absence of lamb and the presence of bread and wine at the Passover supper indicates that Jesus and most of his followers were highly likely Essenes. Jesus Is the lamb. ***And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. - Matthew 26:26-28*** Multiple sources (including Josephus) state that; Jesus' brother James was not only vegetarian but "RAISED as a vegetarian", indicating that his family were ALL likely members of the Essenes and/or vegetarians. According to John; Jesus was sacrificed alongside the lambs during preparation for Passover. However! Jesus and his followers had already celebrated Passover 2 days prior. **It was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about noon. “Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews. But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!” “Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered." - John 19:14-16** This begins to make sense when we learn that the Essenes celebrated Passover a few days before their contemporaries as they followed a slightly different calendar. Furthermore, The Essenes always celebrated Passover on a Wednesday, which would have been the exact day Jesus was arrested after the Passover supper. The evidence is fairly overwhelming. Jesus, during his earthly ministry was most likely, an Essene. **He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. - John 1:11** Much love. Jesus Is King of Kings, Lord of Lords 👑

The hunter-pastor clearly wants evidence! As if the Bible contains any solid evidence of practically anything. It seems to me that arguing that Christ’s message was not one of compassion and mercy is antithetical to the spirit of a benevolent God and his teachings.

It doesn't sound like she's healed from her abortion and on a personal level has a hard time coming to terms with what it is she has really done. She seems like clearly a loving ope hearted person and very compassionate. I really hope she heals from this and is able to recognize true evil in the world. The interpretation of Peter's vision from the LORD... Representing man. Acts 10:28 KJV And he said unto them. Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation: BUT GOD HATH SHEWED ME that I should not call any MAN common or unclean. Vision did NOT mean it was okay to eat animals! ACTS 10:9-23 WHAT GOD IS NOT SAYING: "GO COOK UP SOME ANIMALS BECAUSE MY DEATH ON THE CROSS SANCTIFIED “CLEAN” AND “UNCLEAN” ANIMALS." ACTS 10:9-23 WHAT GOD IS REALLY SAYING: "PETER, IT IS NOW PERMISSIBLE TO ENTER INTO THE HOMES OF THE GENTILES TO PREACH AND TEACH THE GOSPEL."

I don't know why they didn't talk about the wearing of animal skins or the use of animal skins or the fact that Jesus transferred demons from a man into a bunch of pigs and sent them over a cliff to kill them. Clearly Jesus prioritized humans over animals and condoned the use of animals to man's benefit. If he was against man killing animals for food, why would he be ok with killing animals for shoes and belts or possibly even soap or to be a vessel for evil spirits.

They can argue incessantly and use the fish example to justify the horrifying and violent cruelty toward animals and their slaughter. It doesn't add up and it doesn't justify. By that standard then, all land animals need to be immediately spared and set free and then only eat fish. It's quite disturbing that self-professed Christians and those who don't even touch a Bible except to google meat eating support clauses try to use fish as an example to justify the atrocities committed to trillions of animals every year. No benevolent and loving God would ever condone this, and far cry from the practices in biblical times, when meet or a lamb slaughter was an offering or eaten out of famine, necessity, worship, or commemoration. Tony Jones comes across as an angry, bitter, insolent person. I would not take my preaching from any "pastor" or "priest" who leaves Sunday service to go hunt down, kill, mutilate, and eat animals, all of which are capable of love and affection. What a contradiction to preach about love and respect for God and His creation, and then kill and mutilate and animal and/or go to Costco and buy your blood-soaked slaughter, which was abused and tormented prior to. Any person who eats meat lives with death in them 24/7. How can they be loving or happy?

They are of them who profess to be Christians but are not... They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

She’s spot on. Bravo. I would add that people are truly individuals in the grand scheme of human and as such, we can express qualities of the other hormone at times and I believe it’s important to be aware of that. I will also add that being triggered by this podcast, and by anything, is a direct signal that something unresolved is seeking attention from you and until that thing is addressed, assured, momentarily nurtured, and healed/let go of - perhaps it isn’t time, just yet, to go out into the world seeking validation via this unresolved tenderness because it leads into blaming and you’ll continue to experience triggers.

His book, and the especially the text that Kam read, is nothing short of psychopathic behavioral traits and tendencies. Someone posted that Peter is not referring to Men ( Gentiles ) in the vision of unclean meats. It's clear he saids GOD has shown him to call nothing he calls clean common or unclean, referring directly back to the vision. Also, when you see the story he is then being visited by a gentile from another Nation. Peter uses the same language used in division in his gentile explanation. It's the same language used in the vision. The Bible does not contradict itself on doctrinal issues, If you believe it does, then you don't really believe in the Bible.

So how many years apart is this couple? She was 24 when she met this guy who had already lived a full round of marriage and kids. I fully anticipate darts for saying this, but it seems to me that there was a bit of awe in this relationship for her when it started and that she altered her comfort and beliefs to accommodate him because she wanted to be with him. And then to hear that they have to repress feelings of jealousy from both sides? From the explanation of how they go about their experience, there's other ways to go about growing as a person. As someone who has had to grow and stretch in so many different ways - I'm sorry but regardless of what these two say - the focus here is sex - personal growth is something different. Imagine if they spent the same energy volunteering in society. Sorry, but let's just check-in on this in 10 years. In my late 20's and 30's in New York the Burning Man community was loaded with people who were in nonmonogamous or in poly relationships. Years later it's a look that didn't last, even among those who were supposedly so evolved with respect to it. Also, having grown-up with divorced parents, seeing my mother's different relationships was incredibly uncomfortable. We had to experience these new people, having someone who felt like a stranger to us in our home. Even two years in, a boyfriend felt like a stranger in the home. And we (my sibling and I) fully supported her in finding new love. All the benefits the woman talks about in this video - this couple isn't practicing polygamy or polyamory which is what provides those benefits. I'm sorry but this seems like a young woman who bought into an idea to be with a man she fell for. I'm sure she believes what she's saying, but it seems more like she convinced herself of it in order to have this relationship. And I totally agree with you - what is the priority / goal here. What do we value here? Learning a person might be attracted to a woman? Or learning about yourself with respect to what makes a fulfilling life, talents, and how one can help others? It is so western and the fortune of western wealth that allows for spending time on frivolous things like learning more about sexual preference. Look at Gaza - how many people are spending their time figuring out how to help their community and others in need? Compare that with this here need to explore and "grow" sexually. BTW- you can find a study to support any POV and create a case to support any belief system. Two words - the Karma Sutra! In contrast, Andrew and your relationship is beautiful and what true commitment is.

‘I need a turn’? In listening, in sexual gratification, in having time off from relationship/family responsibilities, etc. Do we really need to continually remind our partners that ‘Hey I need a turn ‘??? This all still sounds like women learning how to better support men and make them happy but then having to remind the same men to give back.

Why would the fact (if true) that we have better brains give us the right to abuse (killing is a form of abuse) other sentient beings? Shouldn't it be the other way around? The better the brain the more responsability one has to be better for others? And... where does that idea that animals have no notion of self, of today, tomorrow and of yesterday, come from? Many animals (including most mammals, birds, and even fishes) do know about today, tomorrow and yesterday and they do know they are themselves, that has been more and more scientifically proven. I love your podcast Ellen :) <3

As a non-Christian, what I'm hearing is that many details in the Bible are not clear or interpretable in a literal sense. So maybe instead of "answering questions" about the text with speculation, we should actually use our own brains and moral intuitions (which in the Christian worldview, God gave to us as a reflection of his own image) to understand how to move forward. And judging by how children often react when they learn that the food they're being fed is actually the body parts of slaughtered animals who are not fundamentally different from their companion animals, I think human moral intuition naturally leans pretty heavily towards adopting animals into the sphere of moral consideration.
