    Thanks Dave. I love these creative tutorials. This one reminds me that there are other looks in Studio 2 that I should play with other than my dozen or so favorites. I will be very upset the day that it won't work for me anymore as I use it all the time. Not aware of anything else that can do what TOPAZ Studio 2 does.

    TS2 is my go-to app for when I want to explore new creative possibilities with an image. I particularly like the "Looks." It's never predictable which will work best and I often enjoy clicking through all of them.

    Good one Dave! So similar to iColorama as I have mentioned before. Yes TOPAZ, please consider re-supporting this application! I know you must be watching. : ) Dave, a cool other trick is to create a "raised texture" layer. I am unsure if Topaz Studio 2 has this capability. Then you could put the layer on top of the original abstract with a black mask and just paint in on the areas that you think would e cool to raise. You can do this on the finished project or in lieu of painting back in the original. Just an option as this work you did is super cool. Doing a raised layer selectively can be cool as parts of the image will pop back out at you and show a little more texture. Anyway, you are playing in the area that I have spent a lot of time in. I appreciate you!

    Topaz should port Studio 2 to the Chrome Operating System. Allowing it to run on Chromebooks (of which there are zillions) would open up an entirely new market for Topaz and make photo editing available to numerous school children and increasingly others.

    Hi Dave and thank you for another great edit. With each episode, I learn more and hopefully get better at processing. Today I have a question concerning automatic selections. In the past, there was always an emphasis on properly feathering a selection. In fact, one of selling features of earlier versions of TK was the fact that selections were correctly feathered by virtue of the math behind, for example, a luminosity mask. Why is it not necessary to feather a selection generated by the quick selection tool?

  • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
    @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly3 күн бұрын

    Thanks Anthony. The Object Selection tool does a really good job most of the time because it is Ai based, especially if you have it set for (Cloud, Detailed Results). If it doesn't give you the selection you want you can use the Select and Mask Feature in Photoshop to refine it.

    Thanks, Dave. Times change and PS changes. Its really necessary to stay on top of procedures or post processing gets ruined.

    Thanks Dave for this awesome tutorial. I really enjoyed it, especially when you use various tools from the TK9 plugin. I have a question and I want your help. What is the difference between using the multi-mask calculator and the "my channel" option?

  • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
    @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly3 күн бұрын

    You're welcome. Concerning the different calculators in TK9: When you want to work with Masks that you generate from the Multi-Mask Panel I find the My Channels and Multi-Mask Calculator are the way to go. For doing things like working with selections you make on the fly and channels that you have saved in Channels the Layer Mask calculator is the the way to go. I love them both and they are both very useful.

    Very informative as always Dave , out of interest what is the main advantage of using the blend if masks at the beginning to work on the background and subject as opposed to just using the colour balance wheel on separate background and subject layers ?

  • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
    @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly5 күн бұрын

    Hi Dave. Love this edit! A suggestion and question for you. I'd also remove that vertical grass that is going up the lion to where it meets the shoulder height. Also, I've been trying out Lightroom and as it uses the Pro Photo colour space, when you open an image from Lightroom do you keep that colour space in Photoshop or use Adobe RGB? Thank you.

  • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
    @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly5 күн бұрын

    Thank you. In my original edit I did remove that grass and you are right about removing it. I didn't have enough time in the video edit to remove all of the things I wanted to remove. I do send my images from Lightroom to Photoshop in the Adobe RGB Color space. You can change Lightroom to output in Adobe RGB by going to your Lightroom Preferences/External Editing/Color Space and switch to Adobe RGB if you like.
