    “Business’?” Just one more of many errors in the Comments section. It’s understandable for those who use English as a second language. So many people don’t have a command of the English language (whether grammar, spelling or syntax). That includes many from the U.S. and UK among others.

    Sánchez is clearly hyping the incident, playing victim, deflecting attention as he is on the limelight now for many suspicious activities (his and of his circle). So he is putting his own interests in first place, even at the cost of diplomatic relationships. Bad for Milei (in Argentina politics are quite foul and they insult each other) and worse for Sánchez; just remember Sánchez's government has been attacking Milei for months, even calling him a drug addict (no proof there while Sanchez's wife is under investigation). Moreover, Sánchez blatantly supported Massa, the opposition's far-left leader in Argentina; leader of the leftish side of the "peronismo", a movement that utterly ruined Argentina. Well, even Sánchez has not even congratulated Milei for becoming president! (if you think of how important are the historical and relations of brotherhood between Argentina and Spain, you would find this surprising, to say the least).Anyway, let's see the results in the next European elections; just remember a fact: Sánchez NEVER won one single election (he forged alliances which I deem harmful for Spain).

    The issue of people sitting in a cafe for hours with a coffee is reflected in Ireland in pubs. Tourists live the culture but will buy one drink and stay all night. Funnily enough the Spanish are one of the groups most guilty. Guess it’s in part a cultural difference or lack of awareness.

    All the cafes and bars have to do to restrict the digital nomads taking up space is to program their Routers to cut people off,say, after one hour on line. No access after that. Or, take the Router down altogether which will leave the Nomads having to pay for 4G access.

    Spain has often caused delays at the Gibraltar border. The answer to that lies with Spain, which has to examine its silliness. That doesn't require EU involvement, although the EU is exploiting the situation so it can end Gibraltar's historic status. Cameron is the wrong person for these negotiations. We need someone to stand up to the bullying at the border

    Stu, I believe that digital nomads are being blamed for the housing crisis.i believe we can blame the homeowners who are just being greedy, The Americans, for example, who are encouraging other Americans to move there because they use their services, are partially to blame. Folks with money are not struggling to find a place to live. They are outbidding the average Portuguese. It's really a shame.

    As for Milei, Argentina has been such a mess for so many years that perhaps give him time to see if he can turn things around. Some of his policies make sense, albeit much of his public persona is distasteful. There is no doubt it could makes things worse, but also worth the low risk that his policies could make things better.

    Always enjoy the show. All of this talk (this show and prior ones) about the digital nomads or golden visa holders being to blame for the cost of housing increase. On the Golden Visa specifically, per El Pais, 10k visas have been given out since the start of the program in 2013, and it is hard to believe that is what is driving the entire market crazy. No doubt, that program was started when Spain's real estate market needed stimulus, and that is not longer the case, so ending it can be fine, but blaming it for the reason the market is over heated seems odd. The market is impacted by many things. 1) immigration/ visa types of all sorts 2) the lack of building during the crisis years and 3) Airbnb and similar schemes. And these issues are not unique to Spain (and Portugal).

  • @goldgeologist5320
    @goldgeologist532017 сағат бұрын

    I suspect AirBnB has had a far greater impact than the Golden Visa. Tourists behaving badly is completely unacceptable. The cruise ships that dock and unload thousands of tourists for a day visit and then depart in the evening truly strain a location. I have seen that in a few locations.

    About digital nomads occupying cafes to use the WIFI, some cafes could introduce a time limit on their WIFI, or give clients a token that initiates a time limit. Some libraries use that feature to limit the use of their facilities by those who exploit the WIFI of the library.
