Super fun to hear you switch from Spanish to English; sounds like 2 different people. That’s skills! 😀

Loving these off the beaten track walk-abouts.
Nice video Stuart. I used to drive past Villena regularly and I always found it a pretty disappointing place with not much of interest. What it did have though were some amazing Ventas on the carratera on the outskirts where the lorry drivers stopped for their lunch. Fantastic menu del dia for next to nothing. When I'm touring in Spain I've always looked out for any place that has lots of camiónes parked outside and you are guaranteed to get an amazing plate of food.😀👍

True it IS a disappointing town with a lot of run down buildings and very little of great interest to see .
Gracias para mí es una bonita manera de hacer turismo y practicar inglés
Thanks for the tour of Alicante.

Villena. A town in Alicante province not Alicante city
Great to hear you speak Spanish with the locals
Thanks for the video Stu. I think, that I'd carry on driving past.
Big village, population of around 35000. If it's castles that float your boat you should travel a few more miles along to Sax which has a very impressive one which dominates the skyline on the approach to the town.
Great tool shop in Villena called Ferris

Still have scissors I bought there twenty years ago..
I agree. Next to the Telepizza in my apartment building is a New York Pizza slice that is just like a New York pizza runed by two Americans
I like the earth introduction. Great video.
Why many towns in Spain have lack of trees?
@harriettt9857
2 ай бұрын
They certainly don’t appreciate trees and it’s not for the lack of water (an excuse) ! There are some really beautiful villages and towns Arnes (Catalonia) Valderrobres ( Teruel ) Vilafames ( Castellon ) and some very very ugly ones . But trees in most Spanish towns are not high on the list

Trees need maintenance, they would rather clean the city with that money.

@@marcojimenez5555 understandable but trees cool down the roads, give shade, cleans air, makes everything better
Thanks stu, Steep hillside which was once forest and grass, replaced with these houses. Times and tastes wasn’t well thought out, except for proximity convenience for the locals. Greenery is not a strong suit.
My husband and i are planning a trip to Spain in possibly October. We're from Canada and are hoping to love it there enough to make Spain our retirement home. Canada is just way way way too expensive, and crime rates everywhere here are through the roof.

We moved here from UK about 6 years ago , if you need to know anything just ask.
I love your honesty. I thought the town was rather drab looking.
There must be towns like that, all over the world. I live in Scotland and if you look had enough you will find similar towns that has been forgotten.
Get yourself to Biar while you're there. Amazing views.
Your not far from my house in Yecla. Villena is in a beautifull mountain area but you can't see them walking through the town.
Hello Stuart. You asked a couple videos ago about Spains closing for lunch. As a 28 year hard core pro in the Hospitality industry as well as 14 in retail. I dread to deal with that closing time. My views are way too long for here. Maybe some email or video chat to discuss it., All Best
Hi Stu, great video…. Thanks
I love Spain and I live here but I can’t help thinking that it always looks like an unfinished building site ! Does anybody else have the same opinion ?
Going to Alicante later this year. This might be worth a day out. Strange that a band of armed police should be patrolling the area. Love your videos.
Thank you for the walkabout, Stuart. I guess you have to have some ugly parts of Spain!! It's the same in most countries. It's good to see that you are fit a fair bit of walking all good for your health. 😊
Telepizza is big in France 🇫🇷& Italy 🇮🇹 as well. I have 7 pizzerias , including a Telepizza, 5 minutes from my front door in El Puerto!!

The city of Benidorm, in Costa Blanca, announced they will be charging tourists between £650 and £1,020 for going to the beach between midnight and 7am. That includes swimming in the sea or sleeping on the sand. Taking your clothes off on a non-nudist beach could land holidaymakers a fine of £560. Drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes on the beach in Benidorm also is strictly forbidden, with fines of £650 and £1,700 respectively. GOV.UK has warned British tourists to only use registered taxis in Spain this summer, as passengers caught travelling with unlicensed taxi services could get fines of up to 600 euros (£510). Fines for noisy tourists, from playing loud music on the beach, to talking too loudly in your accommodation. Authorities are closing in on any unlicensed or unruly parties and will issue a fine to anyone involved in the organisation and marketing of the event, as well as attendees. This could result in a £25,000 fine." It’s also likely foreign residents could be effected by new regulations being looked at those who have lived in Spain for 10 years may be forced to get legal residence or leave Spain.
Should of gone to the castle in sax instead it's more impressive
Stu... No need to defend a town like villena... The invading forces would be knackered by the time they got to the castle... LOL.... Tony cuenca
Villegas seems like a wonderful place to pass the time ripping paper bags 🥴
Should of gone to the old bull ring that has been converted to a shopping centre, the reason the nation guard are heavily armed is because of the high security prison you can see from the A31 that house ETA terrorists etc.
*Villena
Fea? How about “no tiene gracia” instead?

@@chrisdragoi9143 I wasn’t being cheeky. When I was an exchange student in the 80s, i remember my Spanish friends using that expression quite a bit. I’m enjoying Stus videos because I relive my old experiences vicariously. He visits some cool places. Some are just a little less pretty or charming than others.
