I am a Swedish hiker, a weekend warrior that try to come out and experience nature as much as possible.
The channel is focused on reviews and backpacking thoughts/ideas how to make your hike a better hiking experience, most of the time with an Ultra-Light twist to it.
I started my channel mid-2020 and have since then more or less released new content every week and my goal is to make and publish videos of gear useful to YOU AS A HIKER and talk about interesting topics.
I hope you enjoy and subscribe to my channel and that we together can grow to a slightly bigger channel.
Stay safe, happy, healthy and remember that the adventure is right around the corner.

I had the old version and I love it, I love the two red mode, and the lowest output, the only is the old micro usb, I need to carry extra cable just for this, my other device are all type c
If you use the rival tac in outdoor mode, combined with the brightest lantern mode, how long does the battery last?
185gr is not 1.4 ounces! It's more like 6.8 ounces.
@@DavidWilliams-tk3dy you’re absolutely right, sorry for that mistake!!
Hello Sir ,if you don't mind me inquiring what kind of jacket are you wearing in this video? Thanks from Dallas Tx. USA
@@The5150owl hi 👋🏻, no worries, of course you can ask 🙂 it’s the Plancklite from Cumulus. A polish brand and 140 grams in size large.
@@roberthammenrudh Thanks for the reply it is responsibly resourced and is not as expensive as it looks. And it makes you look 10 times cooler 😎
I don’t comment on videos much, but this was valuable insight! Thank you.

Does the ultrasonic repel mosquitos are the pads necessary for mosquitos?
@@TomSwango hi 👋🏻. The ultrasonic is for rodents so for mosquitoes you need the pads.
Excellent video in comparison to the Americans who speak at a ridiculous speed with distracting background music.

No holes in the bracket? How to add one's own UL headband?
@@LindsayLindsay-c9x yeah I know… a big downside if one wants to make their own!
I'm 69, I don't backpack anymore, so got a TETON Sports Mountain Ultra Tents - 3 Person Backpacking Tent & the TETON Sports Mountain Ultra 3 Footprint; Waterproof Tarp, for $205. The matching footprint cost only a little more than a Blue 6 x 8 Tarp from Walmart. I'm putting it in my Motorcycle tow behind trailer, when I go on a camping trip with my 2023 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Trike. I got a 3 person tent because both my young girlfriend & I are both 200+ lbs & we want room, just incase we get frisky in the boondocks.
.."and a hydrapak sponsors me"
@@vvs3796 Nope 👎🏻 not at all! Found it, tried it, liked it… nothing more than that!
My cnoc bag is a big pain to open n close, literally

Where can you buy these awesome reusable coffee filters?
Here in Sweden you can you can find them in most grocery stores. Don’t know about the rest of the world but you can always take a look at Amazon.
@@roberthammenrudh Great - I'm googling "Sweden" & "reusable coffee filters" and finding more options! Are they made of a fabric like hemp or linen? I can find ones made only out of fabric, but it looks like your filter has a more rigid frame...
@@evesouthwood7633 its not linen, more like soft plasticky fabric with a rigid plastic frame. Good luck finding the right one!
I maxed out all the sales and sponsor discounts, and bought a few items to hit the free post. All good stuff and gave loads of change compared to just getting another higher end pad. Comfy, warm enough, and pretty quiet which some other pads aren't. No crisp packet racket every time you turn. Pretty good value; pleased with my purchases. Not everyone has tons of money to spend. Plenty of parents have to kit out more than themselves. These are a lot better than the cheaper stuff out there. Time will tell if they last. I have top end kit, but don't always need that level especially if lending stuff out to get others to give the outdoors a go..
What is the color temperature of the light - neutral - cold?
Is this a paid advertisement, just based on specs, or did you really test the device? I have reviewed dozens of different tests now, and most of them end up telling, that the device does not get hot enough to distribute the ingredients of the plate, plus duration is less than 2/3 of the specified time. Did you receive a "Sunday product", while others received a "Mondays product" and there is just a big variety in quality? I never see such a discrepancy between good and bad results for ThermaCell or for Nitecore, as I see it for Flextail. 🤷♂️ Any idea, why?
Can you make video on NU21
@@bruno3833 would love to, have a bit of a break from KZread at the moment but have some plans for a couple of episodes during summer but not the NU21… but I will ask and see if possible 🙂
Everyone stop boiling water and start cooking something ☝
And please no Ramen noodles! Actually cook some real food😮
Why? So easy and good enough when hiking to stick to freeze dried and ramen. Cheap to… and no need to wash the dishes or anything 🤷🏼♂️
Great info! I don’t love my Lan Shan 1 person, but it’s cheap and light and gets me on the trail. I’ll definitely want to upgrade later.
Would it be a big problem to use the women's version of the crown 2 for a 180cm, 75kg man? thank you for answer
Well, depends. Women’s versions normally have more J shaped shoulder straps giving room for the boobs 🤷🏼♂️🫣probably work just as good for you but you might wanna try it out before heading out on a longer hike.
1 Person tent means your backpack sleeps outside
True true… or at least a bit more exposed! I like having mine inside 🤷🏼♂️ but the big vestibules on my Middus is ok.

My family of four are going away this summer. I bought each of us a different filter. Befree, lifestraw peak, sawyer squeeze, and epic nalgene. Will see what we prefer
Please come back and tell me and the audience your experience 🙂🙏🏻 have a great trip!
Hey, do you ever wish you had the Middus 2p instead of the 1p, as a 1 man tent? Or do you feel the space is good enough, and that the benefit of having smaller footprint/easier to pitch is too much of an advantage obver the 2p? In my case, the little bit of extra weight for the 2p Middus don't matter to me at all, and so it will only come down to practicality... I live out in tents in Norway area atleast 100 days a year, so I need to have somewhat of a comfort, but honestly it does seem like the 1p gives you good enough room in the vestibule stash gear and cook... Looks like it is super good against the weather from this video as well, concidering you are not suffering from condense or rain slipping in... - What do you think? Middus 1p vs 2p as a solo traveler in Norway area? Subbed!
Hi 👋🏻, and welcome to the channel! 🙏🏻 this is a good question, I believe it comes down to personal preference off course. A classic weight vs space scenario but in this case… not to big weight penalty here so choosing a 2p sounds reasonable. The smaller footprint is only interesting I would say if hiking in the forest where big spaces to put your tent is difficult to find, for mountain hiking, over the tree line this is most of the time no issue. If spending 100 night/year it’s a no brainer for me, 2p it is. For the space inside…. For the comfort it gives. 1p is nice to have for 1 - 2 week adventures, walking long distances …when wanting to go as light as possible. 🤷🏼♂️ //R
@@roberthammenrudh Thanks! that made a lot of sense. Gotta go with some extra comfort in this case. - Emil
When is a good situation to use water purifier tablets in conjunction with this filter? And can the tablet be used in the BeFree container? Thanks for the video!
From what I remember, tablets (with these types of filters) are used when there's suspicion of a viral contamination in the water.
WONFORIC MINI Air Pump is also very good. You can try our products.
Guess who might be going to Sweden bro!!!
Then I wish you a great stay… what are the plans? Hiking, sightseeing or?
I have a Sierra Designs High Side 1 that I really like, but then it's pretty big for a 1 person bivy tent. I also have a Wild Country Coshee Micro that I really like because it's so comically small. That thing ought to come with shoehorn zipper pulls just for a laugh. But seriously, 1 person tents are good if you're trying to wring every bit of weight and pack size you can out of your kit, but a better alternative would probably be a trekking pole tent that let's you keep the 2 person space while wringing the same amount of both if not more.
It depends on the tent, season and type of journey. Summer wild camp for 1-2 days? No issues with 1-man tent and a tarp. Mountaineering trip in winter? 2 man tent with a huge vestibule is not enough.
I got a denttabs bamboo toothbrush and toothpaste tablets. Saved 9 grams swapping my normal toothbrush with the bamboo one 😂 i really bought it for the tablets though
Small savings are also great 😂👍🏻 it’s like, why not 🤷🏼♂️😄
How well does the Flextail work when there is a small breeze? Does it just blow the insecticide away leaving you unprotected?
It’s the same problem with all these evaporation products like TinyRepel, Thermacell etc and that they don’t work very well in wind. Small breeze is ok, but not more.
Good 👍 info! Kentucky guy here. My Outdoors videos @Jbo143
Yes one night is awesome.. feels like a week!
I'm looking for pants with knee pads, stretchy and breathable. I already plan to get boots (lowa mk2) and I have a jacket that's cool and strerchy from Under Armor. I whanna get into hiking or trekking so I'm still thinking of a backpack to get.
The problem with these Nitecore lights are they have built in batteries that cant be replaced or a spare fitted if needed this makes the NU25 lights throw away disposable lights. and if you forget to charge them they let you down in pinch. The light output is not enough runtime if in the mountains or backpacking activity and they need charging more frequently and not trustworthy or reliable in mountain or backpacking usage. cheap plastic and questionable battery life. no way to replace battery while on the move, if you forget to charge it your in trouble. I will stick to my 18650 battery metal powered headlights as they offer long run times and more power and longer beam distances if needed. Yes this is more weight but its worth it for safety and relibiity and performance to get up and down a mountain...
i done this with my sawyer squeeze( and yes i used filtered hot water) it improved the flow, but then shorlty after i toook it on my trip and the thing water just barely dripped bit and i tried several times during 3 days! i had little better experince with mini, what is the problem? i m giving up .. katadyn be free as i understand works with similar technology and suffers from the same problem.
Much nicer edditing that 2 years back. Nic eone man :)
Thsnks 🙏🏻 appreciate you giving me a second chance!
Are the pads reusable. (Up to 4 hrs) or it's 1 time use, if u only use it for an hr, and the patch is no good?
Hi 👋🏻 they’re reusable 👍🏻 so for me they last at least two night or moments you want some peace when eating or relaxing 🙂
Thanks for the info but I would really enjoy the video much more if you stopped the relentless sound effects - pop, ping, woop, ching! arrrrg!
I totally agree… I’ve learned that and devolved further 🙂 I hope you can give my newer videos a second chance and take a look?
@@roberthammenrudh affirmative! Thanks for getting back to me
is it possible to connect tubing between the two?
Yes i believe so, the drinking tubes have the quick connect in one end so why not just remove the drink end and stuff it to the adapter. Should work. Take a look at their website. 🙂
Why not use a wind shield? Seems like the most obvious thing to do given the circumstances... 🤔
That you can absolutely do, but added weight. This set is supposed to be a complete solution and the reason I tried it the way I did. Not worth the money in my opinion, but the pot is a good budget option.
I always use the equation 2 man tent 1 man and his equipment 4 man tent 2 men and their equipment with my tents over the years although after feeling lost and alone in my MSR Hubba Hubba NX2 (it's cavernous) I've decided to take the 1 man tent plunge for the first time with the durston x mid solid after seeing one in the flesh I think I'm going to be okay we'll see 😬😀👍
So in the case of the Thermarest you said 63 grams if including batteries, but in the case of the Flextail zero pump you said it is 33 grams. But this is not including the weight of the batteries or adapter. This is a kind of deceptive comparison. To compare the two you should give the weight of both with the batteries needed to operate them. If you also weigh the Zero pump with its battery, and adapter the weight is the same as the Thermarest Micropump at 2.2 ounces. Same weight.
True and all explained in the full review on the pump. Difficult to have all the technical details under 1 min 🤷🏼♂️
Modern silpolys can be better than most silnylons. Poly has less stretch and absorbs less water. It still packs small, stuffs, and lasts longer than laminates (DCF and Ultra).
An elegant if somewhat expensive solution. I've often worried about losing that little washer!

Just go to a job site, if you can find 1. Ask for a piece of scrap TYVEK.
