I used Ziploc bags plenty back in BoyScouts, then dug them out to organize and protect my gear and clothes in my ruck while in the State Guard. I cant see much savings in switching to the Dynema organizer bags, except for lightening my wallet!

👍👍👍 Pure Gold .. and I am sure that you're possibly on some 'high end' equipment manufacturers' 'hit lists'. I have for some time, used most of your tips provided. Some 'useless information' .. 🙄😏. Back in the 70's and even earlier, before 'reflectix' / similar made it's appearance, we used the 'haybox' system to allow our food to cook / stay warm in it's own heat. Get the pot of whatever 'one pot meal' up to a good boil. Wrap in a cotton dish cloth, then in a used plastic grocery bag. Wrap the lot in one's sleeping bag, go off and finish off any other chores / explore the area / chew the fat with others and return an hour later to a hot cooked meal. Cup. I have used a cheap plastic one for many years. If space in my pack is limited, I just hang it outside my pack. Winter, I have an insulated SS mug with folding handles which forms part of my 'pot / kettle stacking system'. Various little Alcohol Burners (most 'home-grown') fit nicely inside the mug. Yep .. the 17, 35 and 60 litre trash bags are my go-to. Here in Switzerland, they are extremely robust and long-lasting (the Swiss Garbage Collectors do not take too kindly to burst bags 😁). The zip-loc bags from my local Migros Supermarket make up the balance of my item storage system. Aluminium. I am not taken in by the 'Alu Bogey Man' 😳. 73 Summers under the belt .. fed from birth from aluminium cook pots and still the little grey cells are quite lucid (just as forgetful now as I was 50 years ago 😏). Common sense also. Inter alia, I try and reduce instances of food sticking to the pot surface (heat control and frequent stirring helps). Soaking where possible and using 'soft' cleaning sponges helps to keep the aluminium surfaces intact. Good tips .. thanks. I am sure many pockets will benefit from them. Have subscribed and until later then, take care ..

First of all, welcome to the channel 🙏🏻 and glad you liked this video and my other content! Happy to see your not afraid of the Al Bogeyman 😂👍🏻 and for me to, aluminium has been present in many cookware from the 70s and forward! Thanks also for sharing your experiences and tips of what you’re using! Here in Sweden the stronger trash compactor bags are little more difficult to find… not like Switzerland 😄 so for next year I actually bough me some Ecofume bags to see the difference… it’s a more environmentally friendly bag in comparison to Nylofume… weigh in at 24gr/bag (52L). Take care and safe hiking

Pure aluminum is fine for cookware. Just don’t leave very acidic food inside longer than you have to (tomatoes, apples, vinegar etc). You’ll get no adverse health side effects from it, it’ll just corrode the pot over time. The study thst linked aluminum cookware to Alzheimer’s disease is old, and was never able to be replicated - meaning it might have been manufactured by a market competitor to aluminum cookware. Aluminum is as light as titanium, and much cheaper. It’s just a lot more malleable and easy to dent. The biggest and only real downside to it, imho, is the inability to cook with it over fire as it melts at 660C - coals can get way hotter

Amazed how many of these I already carry - I use both the freezer bags and the soup bags - those are heat proof - on hikes, and carry aluminium pots (wise to put the medical stuff in, I got SO many crazy aluminium is toxic comments on my video! I stumbled into that one....and did my research and found no serious side-effects - it's funny cos titanium is about as bad or good, actually, some doubts about some of it especially the oxide...) , I carry the Primula Brew Buddy, a little more than $15 unless you're in the US, very useful coffee filter. I don't carry a cosy, I wished I did on my recent winter hike, food got so cold so fast (why using an alu or steel pot is better, titanium cools almost instantly, and your food with it! Eating direct from the pot has some advantages). I have a folding spork, I sold my long titanium one cos I never used it!

Wildo foldacup is not bad. But I use a alu cup without handles 30g for 400ml. I made a pot cozy for it, so I can grab it from bellow or set it on my plasticky stuff without it melting. It stays in my backpack bottle pocket and I slide my water bottle into it. When In storage I pack a little bandana inside so the bottle doesn’t rattle or scratch it. I use a widesea titanium pot 1.3L which I got for only 16€, so it can’t make this list lol but I also got a pot cozy for it. I only use it in the colder times when I can cook with fire, and to clean it I just put it on the fire and burn the hell out of. Everything dries and I just wipe it off
