    I love knitting on just about everything. I love knitting washcloths and giving 3 or 4 wrapped up with a very nice bar of soap. Every person I’ve given them to loves them and mention that they would love more. I was in my Drs office last week and she asked me what I was knitting. I told her and she had to feel it. I go back in August so I’m trying to get some worked up for her. 💜 Thank you so much for your great video.

    Hi! I just came across your channel today (and subscribed), when I did some research on cleaning motivation when you're in pain. I've had CRPS (Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome) since having a nerve block before rotator cuff repair surgery, in 2020. There are days I cannot function. When I have a good day I try and do as much as I can to catch up on my To Do list. Thankfully my hubby helps me a lot. So blessed to have found your channel.

    You don't use a thermometer? I thought you had to wait till the wax cool to a certain temperature to add the oil

  • @ArtfulHomemaking
    @ArtfulHomemaking19 күн бұрын

    According to Brambleberry, "the best temperature to pour is 155-160° F. A rule of thumb is to allow the wax to cool enough to coat the sides of your pouring vessel." I usually don't take the temperature of my beeswax, but I always do when making soy candles.

    How do you get it to NOT tunnel ??

  • @ArtfulHomemaking
    @ArtfulHomemaking2 ай бұрын

    Sometimes tunneling occurs because the wrong wick (for the size of the jar) was used. And it can take a bit of trial and error to find the best wick for the container used. My beeswax candles made in jelly jars have a nice burn pool, spreading all the way to the edges. But the ones made in the wide mouth jars don’t burn as fully to the edges because I think they could really use a different/bigger wick. The other (very common) reason for tunneling is that the candle wasn’t allowed to burn long enough. I usually plan to burn my candles for about 3 hours each time they are lit. This is especially important for the first time the candle is lit, as it helps it to burn more successfully after that. Beeswax candles can take a bit of experimentation to get them right!

    I just started. My dishcloth ended up a wonky shape but I figured it’s good practice. Video is good but I have the last stitch on my needle still because your video cut what you did with the very last stitch. It jumps from the last stitch to the loop. How did you get it off the needle? I tried taking it off and it wasn’t finished so I had to put back on needle and restitch to make last stitch again and afraid to take it off. What am I missing? Thanks

  • @ArtfulHomemaking
    @ArtfulHomemaking3 ай бұрын

    Hi Cheryl! If you watch starting at 10:23 , it shows that last stitch on the needle, and you simply pull your needle out of that stitch (keeping the loop that was left), and then follow the instructions for cutting the thread and pulling it through that loop (that last stitch) that was left. This binds off the stitches. Hope that helps!

    Mine too! It’s all wonky shaped and like Swiss cheese. But I know why I have extra holes. I got distracted a few times. My issues is the last bind of stitch. Her video cuts out and jumps to her stitch off needle. So I’m stuck with last bind off stitch still on needle lol

    Hello, thank you for sharing this pattern. I've knitted this in the past without issue, however this time the lace pattern, or specifically the holes it creates are larger on the decrease than on the increase. My yarn is 100% cotton, size 4 australian needles. Its happened twice now. I'm very careful making sure I've followed the instruction properly as i have knitted it many times before. I'm frustrated, any suggestion as to what might be happening?

  • @ArtfulHomemaking
    @ArtfulHomemaking4 ай бұрын

    I've only tried the recipe as written, so I'm not sure. If you used virgin coconut oil, it has a unique flavor if you're not used to it. The peppermint oil would help give the toothpaste more of a minty flavor.

    How much carrier oil and Fragrance oil should be added in 100g of Beeswax? For making Beeswax Scented Candles?

  • @ArtfulHomemaking
    @ArtfulHomemaking4 ай бұрын

    I don't usually add fragrance, so I don't have an exact amount. According to candle experts, they suggest 1-2 ounces of scent for every pound of beeswax. Or, you could try about 25 drops of essential oil (approximately 1 ml) for every 1 oz (28 g) of beeswax, as someone else has suggested.

    Over the last few years of having home and decorating it, here's what I have learned: 1. Know what your style is. You said this. I have always been drawn to Asian and Victorian decor. Think about what speaks to you. 2. Know what you don't like. I like splashes of color. I don't like the wall that looks like a satanic blood ritual red. Or flamingo pink. With ADHD that is too much. 3. Seasonal items. There are four seasons of the year, so embrace them.

    You speak Truth. I guarantee that doctor won't truly understand until her children are grown and she missed it. I see it so often as a teacher. One child in my class, when asked what would he do if he won the lottery (an imagination development lesson) said he'd buy their house so his Mum could stay home and play with him and just be with him. He had tears in his eyes. My heart just broke in that moment that a child so young would feel that bereft. But he's not the only one unfortunately. If a working woman can be there for the first five years of their child's life alone, what a change you would see in society as a whole! It cannot be emphasized enough how stabilizing, morality and confidence building it is to have a Mother in the home and a well run, orderly home with homemade meals and a hug at the door. Its good for the mind, the body and the soul. Well done you. You're building tomorrow. God bless you.
