I don’t know if you’ll see this or not, I’ve watched some of your other videos and I have a question regarding GPA. Is a 3.5 GPA in a technical field a high enough GPA to be competitive for a pilot slot?

I always wondered what they do when there are storms. Is there a compartment downstairs where the planes go? I can't imagine the level of precision and coldness you have to have to operate on an aircraft carrier.

There is a massive hangar bay below the flight deck. When that’s full we use lots of chains to secure the aircraft.

Amazing.. Thanks.. Oh.. P.S. If you need ballast for the back seat... I'll sign my life away for the ride!

3:55 I agree that going OCS instead of ROTC is not having your education paid for, but I’m 29 and had a decade of fun working in the private sector after college and now have a graduate degree I’m using to pursue OCS. I feel a lot of my ROTC friends missed being young and working outside the service after graduation. But having school paid for is huge, you’re right.

Depends on priorities and age/rank/pay. Most recent civilian grads are making less than their pilot counterparts. This changes around the 4-6yr mark where on average civilians surpass military officer pay. If you were to apply later in life you are taking a hefty pay cut and your job experience adds no benefit for increased wages. On the other hand, if you go in straight out of college and then get out after your obligated service requirement you now have work experience that lends itself to increased civilian pay. Additional things to consider are family life. Would you rather travel abroad on deployment in your 20s-30s or 30s-40s. I would argue most are looking to settle down in their 30s-40s.

this is pretty good info, i will be showing my child this if he or she ever displays aviation curiosity as a child like i did 😄 thanks man. i have met a few USAF and US Navy pilots, not talked a whole lot but you guys seem to have quite the affable personalities. no usually what "fighter" would be associated with but i think its a good thing really. loved the SF86 investigator interview comment "it is highly likely your interviewer already knows the answers to the questions so dont lie". best advice ever. (i contemplated lying for a class 1 medical years ago for about 2 minutes... and ever since people have been telling me to "just lie", almost oblivious to the fact it is not ignorant children in charge of aviation). Best Regards!

Cool video. Please, no music for future videos. Just the raw sound of the jet. If military protocol allows, would love to hear radio conversation.
