That carrier break straight over the top of aircraft being launched from the cat below you is some of the best footage I have ever seen. Fantastic stuff.
You really have to admire a pilot that can land on a postage stamp in the middle of an ocean!👍

No no...The HMAS Melbourne was a postage stamp, US carriers are more like a large package.

The clouds are beautiful, nice view. I loved it.
Landing on Carriers (at night as well) is what separates the Navy & Marine Corps pilots from the rest. And as badass as the Thunder Birds are from the Air force - the "Blue Angels" are on another level. Shout out to an old (F 14 Squadron / VF - 142 " Ghost Riders") out of Oceana Naval Air Station Va. Bch. , Va. Spent a few years growing up around those who - yas.
Wow that’s insane! The cockpit is remarkably small. A runway in the middle of the ocean -what a concept!!

Amazing! You guys make it look so easy. I wish I could be like you. Love all those call signs and unique helmet designs.
Been there. Honking into the brake as two come off the cat. Solid smooth landing. Sweet!
It's good to see the skull & crossbones still flying ! ! I was in VF-84 between 87 - 91 as a mech when the F-14 was still flying ! ! Squids ! !
It ceases to amaze me to witness these epic landings :)

Ok. I love all about carriers, aircraftfigthers and pilots. Thank you once again Mr. Alex Bowman.
Amazing skill. My mentor in soaring was an ex carrier fighter pilot. Amazing guy. The best!!
So proud to be an American. A big thank you to the service men & women to bravely serve our country! 🇺🇸
Awaiting eagerly this video.
“ Tinder” is an epic call sign… what would be hilarious is if your wingman was “Grindr” or however you spell it.
My favorite squadron, The Jolly Rogers!
These frontal shots dude 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽
Alex... VERY cool to see that in daytime, calm seas anyways, the prop churn of the carrier gives you a sort of "white water" centerline for final to line up on, crab, follow in for the trap. Fly safe! :)
Saw your call sign in the thumbnail and realized I’ve been watching the guy who did IGN reacts to Top Gun Maverick.
A really good pilot coming downwind toward the ship, will know exactly where his cab will end up once he starts that turn based on the wind speed and direction. Other pilots will work it out as they descend; others will work it out much lower down the approach. I’ve worked with all manner of pilot and all are exceptional.
🇺🇸💯❤️ thank you for your service and being the best in the world ‼️
Nailed it like a boss! 👍💪
Gigantic meaty clackers ! I don’t know how these guys fly with those huge nuts. Much respect, over.
FE guys hooked you up with an awesome tape job
Ok-3 ! Nice calm seas
Very cool thanks! Nothing cooler than a fighter pilot!
Very good Alex

Most fun you can have with your pants on ... pretty good break at/near the bow.

A big thank you to the US Military 🪖 The world would be a very different place without you God bless the US 🇺🇸
@iatsd

The world would indeed be a different place. Given the US has started more wars since 1950 than all other nations combined, there would be ~2.5 million more people alive today if the US had kept to itself like it pretends it does.
I got to do a landing on a carrier. It was in a C2 I think. We were faced backwards, so it wasn't much worse than a rollercoaster hitting the end of it's run. Fighter jets look way more violent.
Very nice
Epic! 🤘🏻🇺🇸
That call sign though 😂
Very Cool
just insane ^^
God these videos are epic. A great insight. Would you be able to make one of the entire recovery? I am not too much at home with the super hornet but what would you be doing at the UFC that late. Is that for PLM?
@AlexBowman_Ventures
2 жыл бұрын
I can probably do that. What part of the recovery would like to see? Anytime you execute a shit hot or break near the boat it is much easier (and safer in my opinion) to fly the approach turn with manual throttles because you have to bleed so much energy. Once at a decent position and energy state I clicked into auto throttles and selected PLM on the UFC. In a normal carrier pattern I would be slowed down soon enough to not have to select PLM this late in the approach! Nice catch!

@@AlexBowman_Ventures Well, unfortunately not many videos show the mechanics from coming into the stack, hawking the deck to then leave the stack, although yours shows an amazing part of it. I as just a boring airline pilot have done a lot of research on how cyclic ops works whilst being off during COVID and have had a lot of help from your (ex) colleagues. Most of the info given was related to the F/A-18C and I am not aware of how much procedures have changed. I made a video of it myself kzread.info/dash/bejne/mWpkspOfqsvJlLw.html which is probably just a laugh for you, but if you ever could and would be willing to make another video, then it would be amazing to see a video of a full case 1, from just before going BTN 16 when inbound to the boat. On a case III Have you ever flown Mode 1 or 1A Btw? Would be keen to hear about how often guys use it, or wether they rather stick with mode2.
Respect👍

Fascinating to see Cat 3 or 4 being used with aircraft in the break. Cant leave a lot of time for delay on those cats. Did that first aircraft launch from Cat 3/4 or Cat 2?
Cool stuff man ! Always wanted to for one of those bad boys , but life turned out differently cuz of the greediness of some of my siblings !

The Air Force chose the F-16 over the F-17. The F-18 is based on the F-17 but in the end is a completely different airplane.

Jose Jiminez, on approach...
Was that a third or fourth wire snag?
Great video. Still don't understand how pilots decelerate that quickly (on landing using arrestor gear) without losing their lunch.
Mr. Bowman, i've landed the FA18c over 100 times successfully in DCS World. What are my chances on a real FA18? Thank you

when you rolled out into final approach was that a long groove?
@AlexBowman_Ventures

No. We shoot for 15-18sec groove length. 19-21sec would be a little long in the groove. (LIG)

Dumb but serious question... why do you do a carrier break? Why not begin a straighter approach from further out? Do you always do one... even at night or in bad weather?
