Question that I don't often see asked. What made you stop/leave the Navy? Everyone wants to be a fighter pilot, so while getting in the door is a huge source of questions, I think understanding why people leave the profession is sometimes even more valuable info for those trying to follow footsteps.

Great question. I will have to address that in an upcoming video. A lot of people leave for different reasons, mostly because while flying fighters is freaking awesome there are a lot of sacrifices one has to make to hold that position. Time away from loved ones is a huge sacrifice. Long deployments are part of it, but there is also all of the training time spent away from home leading up to deployment. At some point, in most people's lives, priorities change and for me my priorities shifted to settling down and pursuing other interests. This coupled with competing lifestyle opportunities, such as higher paying airline gigs and starting a family are also factors at play.
Tinder, I remember you being one of my pilots at VFA-103! I am currently in the process of becoming a future pilot for the Navy. Thanks for the awesome videos! ☠️

Chris, what's up man!? That's badass brother! I'm sure you will do great. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Good Luck!!

Hey Alex. Great to see your starting to stream like this. Gonna help out a lot of people who want to become a (fighter) Pilot. It seems you may be one of the best you tube sources out there as I believe you are one of the most recently active fighter pilots who streams..best of luck to you.
Alex - what I would've given to have had a role model like you back when I was in high school, or college. Truly great content you're creating!
Your channel is by far the best source of information on this topic. Subscribed!
I love this series. Keep the videos coming!
I have long wanted to become a fighter pilot in the Navy. Ever since I visited the Wright Brothers museum in North Carolina, as I set foot on the hill of where the first motorized aircraft flew, I knew that I had a passion for Aviation. Thank you so much for the video!
Will definitely help many, wish I’d had this content when I was growing up ! Love the channel.
Thank you Alex for your service!
Alex provides excellent "up to date" insight and advice to becoming a Naval Aviator. This is commendable as most fighter pilots finish their tours and move on with their careers without giving anything back to the next generation of miltary pilots who will ultimately be defending our great nation in the future. Alex however, decided to give back because he cares.. Everything he says is spot on and worthy of consideration for those wishing to pursue a similar path. By following his advice, aspiring future fighter pilots may one day be able to experience the rewards of hard work and the ever-important essence of 'F-18 Power' as captured in his videos! Well done Alex,..well done..
These videos are really good! I think they will be helpful for many people, besides being interesting for all.
Hey, Alex. my dream is to become a naval aviator and this completely makes it more clear for me.
I’ve been really wondering how to become a Naval aviator! Thanks for summarizing up those specific informations!! Sadly I’m not an US citizen but I’ll do my best to step further on my life’s goal
I m too old to became a fighter pilot, but for young generations it is useful advices. Anyone who fell invite or voice inside of mind..whatever you gonna call it, that person must took a chance. It's a great honor to be a part elite branch of army, no matter what country it is.
I am a new subscriber, and I would like to thank you for your service.
Loving the VFA 41 Black Aces Helmet on the wall back there ❤️ .
Hi Alex, newly thank you for this information. You are an idol of young guys.
Alex thanks for the informative video! Just wondering in the future if you could make a video about flight schools you have to attend in the Navy before becoming a hornet pilot.
this is pretty good info, i will be showing my child this if he or she ever displays aviation curiosity as a child like i did 😄 thanks man. i have met a few USAF and US Navy pilots, not talked a whole lot but you guys seem to have quite the affable personalities. no usually what "fighter" would be associated with but i think its a good thing really. loved the SF86 investigator interview comment "it is highly likely your interviewer already knows the answers to the questions so dont lie". best advice ever. (i contemplated lying for a class 1 medical years ago for about 2 minutes... and ever since people have been telling me to "just lie", almost oblivious to the fact it is not ignorant children in charge of aviation). Best Regards!
Hey Alex, thank you for your amazing videos! They help me a lot! But I still have two questions though on how you’ve got your call sign and if you always flew with a WSO?? Thanks!
Thanks!
okay weird question. Most videos I have seen of pilot flight in a fighter the throttle/stick are usually oriented in the same manner, that could be stick is in between your legs and or stick on the right side of the frame with the throttle on the left. As a lefty, I would fly with my left hand which wouldn't work well in most jets from what ive seen. Have you flown with any pilots that use their left hand to manipulate the aircraft and right hand to use the throttle?
Is washing out of flight school a big risk ?and what happens if you do? I always heard from some that in 60s 70s and 80s often 60% would fail.
If I’m taking the OCS path, do I need to complete these steps before OCS? Or how does it work?
Alex, did you come from a family of pilots, IE, did your father, uncles, grandfather have their pilot’s license and Fly privately or commercial.??
I have one question. Was it fun? :) And thank you for your service to our country! My dad and uncles were Navy, and my cousin married a Navy fighter pilot who was a member of the Sunliners Squadron back in the day.

@@AlexBowman_Ventures Wish we could trade career. I am single and too old to join the Navy.
Yeah....I just tried to take a ASTB prep test....you got it bro. I'm good. LMAO I'm dumb as hell
Is ther an age limit? Or waivers if you are a certain age?
20/40 vision??? Wow ... back when I went into the Corps (~ 1,000 years ago) I seem to remember all the services requiring 20/20 vision (no eye surgery of any kind). Interesting how that's changed...
hello what should i do to join a nice squadron ? like a VFA-103
Hey if you do not have a 4 year degree will the navy send u to a collage or the naval academy.

Do the needs of the Navy at the time you graduate flight school determine which plane you will fly? ..assuming you aren't first in your class- thanks

Needs of the navy are always at play. The only way to guarantee your first choice is to be the best in the room.

Indeed. I will say this though, there are A LOT of fighter guys getting out early to fly for the airlines so I wouldn’t worry too much about there not being a need. The Navy needs fighter pilots right now.
When you graduate flight school you get the mustache.
At what point in the process do you do the flight physical? And where do you do it at?

Will having a private pilot license and instrument rating help me in getting picked for pilot?

No, but it will help you have a leg up the first few months of flight school
👍🏻👍🏻

In your experience, are any Navy pilot candidates prior officers from other services, even non flying officers? If so, did they start again from Navy OCS?
@rohenry9962
Жыл бұрын
Someone asked this same question on airwarriors forum. Apparently the Navy doesn’t accept prior Officers from other branches. But the Marine Corp does and yes, you will have to do MC OCS and start as a 2nd Lieutenant.
Omg, sorry, what should I press for take of?
In my humble opinion, You can be strong in math science, but if you don’t have hunter/ killer, I don’t know.
Lions are really bad swimmers, so that would have been quite difficult. Would have wanted to fly an F-18 or helicopter but not a boring C-2 Greyhound.
Do you sit down with an investigator before or after being selected for a SNA slot?
