Thank you. Very informative.
If you put a rubber band around the "scoop" portion, then the funnel top will stay put when you slide it over.
I've got a GREAT idea for all these Emergency radios: one of the radio bands should be TV audio so while you're sitting there powerless, at least you can listen to your favorite TV shows. EZ to design into these radios and worth every penny while you're sitting there doing nothing IMHO.
The Midland ER series has easily removable/rechargeable lithium ion batteries along with a large AA battery compartment. It's a better radio. However, I just wish they would include SW with all of these emergency radios.
It doesn't help anyone hiking. When hiking you need to hook the sawyer up to a hydration bag in a way that you can drink from it. It's the #1 problem for hikers today. Please make a video about how to do that.
Thank you. I added this to our Sawyer.
My sawyer doesn't even filter black coffee back into clear water is that normal?
Seems like a big waste of paper towels. There is an excellent, reusable option that will remove all visible silt from water, and prolong the life of your filter. Search "Millbank Bag" kzread.info/dash/bejne/qJWY0JmHicWzhZM.html&ab_channel=HiddenValleyBushcraft
Great instruction and video. Cheers
Great review! Eres buena onda! We just bought tgis exact tent 🙏🏽🫶🏽❤️😉
it has USB? if so, can I play music throught the radio?
I received bad batch 😡
You have to unscrew the cap on the sink they all have a little pea trap that can be removed leaving the treads exposed
Look at all those fiddly piece parts? Syringes, adapters, on-and-on. Use a HydroBlu instead. It looks like a Sawyer-Mini, but flows like a Squeeze (80% of a Squeeze anyway). HydroBlu has all the attachments built-in, yet weighs much less than Squeeze. HydoBlu has tethered end-caps and thus requires no bandana. HydroBlu has 28mm female threads built-in on both ends, so one can attach the CNOC lake/stream water on one end and the filtered Smart-Water bottle on the other for an end-to-end gravity system (no squeezing). HydroBlu is smaller and lighter for sleeping when it's cold out. HydroBlu flush requires no syringe, simply remove the CNOC and squeeze the Smart-Water bottle to flush.
Your not ment to use tap water when backflushing
I wouldn’t pay any attention to the indicator in a bag of absorbers. It will only tell you that at least one of them is good. As I use them, I give each one a squeeze and flex it. If it’s soft and pliable it’s good, if it’s crunchy it’s bad.
Too many 1 star reviews for $50 emergency radio that does not work
Hi Russell, I stumbled upon your channel a few days ago when looking online for reviews of the ThorFire lantern. I ended up watching all of your other videos, as I also have an interest in emergency preparedness. I wanted to thank you hugely for the time and effort that you've put into making these videos. You are such a natural communicator. So many of these kinds of preparedness channels focus on irrelevant stuff. You know the kind I mean "if you wanna prepare, then you need 8000 guns, an anti-EMP device and 500 years worth of freeze-dried pasta, else the government will track you down...". Sadly that puts many everyday people off the idea of being that bit more prepared, which at a sensible level is good for individuals, families and communities. Your channel is a wonderful, and enchanting antidote to the unhealthy side of the hobby. Thank you, and best wishes to you and your family across the pond there!
Thank you for all of the kind words. I have had a lot of fun sharing my prepping journey. I should probably make another video. Thanks for your support
Where you wrote, '...focus on irrelevant stuff. You know the kind I mean "if you wanna prepare, then you need 8000 guns"...' I would proffer to you that it only requires one gun and one bullet to take EVERYTHING you have in 'preps' etc. away from you, up to and including your life. Everything is important. You can make it 3-5 days without water, 45-75 days without food but less than a second if you have no way to defend yourself from the aforementioned. People will become animals if the worst happens.
What a fascinating experiment. I was really surprised at how well the paper towel performed. Such an easy to use and cheap item too!
Mine seemed to need a break-in period, but it's now very reliable.
What diameter is the tubing?
You could call it the 'mess box' for medical extras storage system aka MESS BOX 😊
do you need gas tape for the connection to tank and can you not use a filter and also the high heat only works with two 1 lb tanks so do you need 2 20lb tanks conected both sides for the high heat setting? and also if you have two 1 lb tanks connected will it draw from both tanks for low and middle heat or is the right side stank strrictly for when you use high heat so if you didnt use high heat would the two tanks make you last longer on low or middle heat with two tanks rather than just one 1lb tank connected?
thanks for sharing.
I have a Midland smaller radio that is actually a weather radio by speaking about Frank really fast if you spin that crank on it'll turn on
Absolutely not!
Whole wheat flour is much healthier then the stuff you used for this vid.
Whole wheat is healthier but goes rancid in half the time because of higher oil content
@@CM-ve1bz yes, that's what fresh unprocessed food does.
@@so_what_else_is_new That’s why it isn’t for long term storage. Healthy food is a wonderful thing unless it’s rotten.
Fuel filter? Am i supposed to buy one? Do i have to have it?
Yes, what if
I use the Vecto bag to fill water in the Sawyer Squeeze water bags
I just bought the smaller one to carry in my backpack or car, £27 for the KA369
Thank you!! This is great info.
Thank you for your kind words! It means a lot to me that you found the information valuable. I appreciate your support!
Another great use for tomato powder!
Thank you for your comment! tomato powder is pretty amazingly
I freeze dried some sliced tomatoes. I think I will turn them into powder on the vita mix and try out this recipe.
I believe tomato powders are made from tomato pulps after blanching and thus it doesn’t include the skin and seeds.
No vacuum seal 🤔
The heater has 2 tanks what do you do with second tank connection
link to sealer?
OMG, how can you call It pizza??? We do not use tomato powder, no pepper, no onion, and what should be "italian seasoning"??? ..Please respect real italian pizza made with only fresh ingredients. Thanks. You can call It bread with ketchup.
Gheesh a Molly…. Give it a break and respect your fellow human!
Thanks for the demonstration!
Thanks for watching, it was fun to make. I hope it helps people see what a great prep tomato powder is.
Tomato powder is so useful!
Thank you for this information. I have several of these cans and hopefully will be using for all tomato powder recipes you mentioned.
You are so welcome! I think it is a great item to store
Do you know if one would need a filter if you are going to use the quick connect hose and how would you get a filter connected with that special quick connector? Thanks
If that is working, why they don't sale flower in that Mylar bags to increase shelf life up to and over 10 years? For the long term storage, wouldn't be easier to get grain that can be store indefinitely and the mill ? You can make flower as you need.
Mylar bags and absorbers are on the expensive side and intended to remain closed. If you’re using the flour daily the bag is of no consequence.
@@CM-ve1bz Why they don't sale flower in that Mylar bags to increase its shelf life up to and over 10 years? After flower is bought, it is usually used within 30 to 60 days.
This is a great idea. I went to price everything out it’s over $100 CDN I think I could buy a gravity water filter on Amazon for less. Do you need the 2nd set of tips or can’t you just put the hose on the male and female end of what’s already on the filter and bag?
Thanks, like seeing the freeze dried food videos.
You are welcome, thanks for watching hopefully it was helpful.
Tomato powder is a very useful prep!
I agree, I was surprised how easy it is to use.
Good stuff. Thanks 👍
Dear sir , the background music is not easy to hear while u speak. Thank you for the video!
I've obviously come across this video a long time after it was made but i wanted to mention it looks like your kitchen sink has an aerator attachment on it. Maybe check if you take that off the sawyer tap may fit?
I buy wheat berries which still contain the healthy bran and germ and grind it myself.
