Yes, it is so reassuring to have a battery-operated Carbon monoxide detector in place when using a Mr. Heater indoors during a power outage! I did that back during "Snowmageddon" in Maryland :-)

Thanks so much for this post. In the past, I have been totally reluctant to put a portable heater in my tent for winter camping, but now I can see where it is much more safe to do.

I got a mister heater with a 12-ft hose about a month ago.. The first time I hooked it up after buying a brand new propane tank 20 lb it wouldn't light.. it was cold so I used a 1 lb green bottle of propane and it lit and I had it on there a couple of hours cuz I got busy and then I thought I'd hook up the hose to the 20 lb propane tank to see if it would work and then it started and lit and was fine.. I filled the 20 lb propane tank up a second time and it lit and it was fine.. I just refilled it again a few days ago and it wouldn't light again so I put another 1 lb green bottle in it to make it work and it started.. I left it on for about an hour because if I took it off after 10 or 15 or 20 minutes with the green propane tank on it and attached it to the 20 lb tank it still wouldn't light.. or stay lit so I left it on longer.. So after about an hour I hooked it up again to the 20 lb propane tank and it lit and it's been working fine ever since so far.. Why is it doing that do you know.. Would a filter stop that??

if you are using a different brand hose than Mr.Heater hose, then you do need a filter. Mr.Heater officially says this-" Do you need a filter with a Mr Heater hose? Currently, we make three hose models that do not require a filter: the F273704 which is made from a different chemical compound of rubber that does not have the oily substance that can get into the fuel flow, the F271802 that attaches to a low-pressure line, and the F271803 which is a regulated hose."......other thing is ,people have said w/a long hose attached to the heater,it takes longer for the propane to reach the heater so it takes longer for the heater to start. ...I am purchasing one for insurance against power outtages here in rural Ontario canada which isnt unusual when branches break from ice and fall on power lines as well as just insurance against grid down situations.
