Thanks for your video. I just wonder how the results would compare to an Italian Cioccolata Calda, Parisian Chocolat Chaud, Spanish Chocolate Caliente (or similar) recipes. Examples from SAID dal 1923, Angelina Paris, Chocolatería San Ginés, Chin Chin Labs (and others) look pretty tasty. Maybe one day I'll try something similar with Callebaut 811.
a good spoonful in a winter stew, gives it a nice rounder flavour with just a hint of a kick.
Love, love kendal mint cake. Also had sugar mice as a child, again, pure sugar, just no mint taste
Have you tried Fry's chocolate creme they are the best ❤ Hope you're both well
Hello. I have a sweet tooth, but i think i would find the mint cake far too sweet for me
Hi Graham. It is pretty sweet.
Never been a fan of mint cake , i don't like the texture and it's far too sweet
Hi John. It is a bit grainy. I'm surprised I liked it so much. Though now that we've had the chocolate covered ones, those are my preference!
After seeing your recipe, I also feel like cooking. 😊Upload on khal please!
It looks like Orangina.
It kinda does!
Hi both. Hope you're well. Not a huge fan of mint based snacks but used to love Viscount biscuits which I think you may have tried previously Definitely a favourite growing up
Hi JonnoD, thank you, hope you are well too! You're correct, we did try Viscount biscuits, they remind us a bit of our Girl Scout cookies we occassionally find here. Loved the Viscounts :) Hope you have a great weekend :)
If you melt it in vodka you get an amazing tasting mint liqueur, it really slips down easy, there is also a brown sugar version.
Hi James, Happy Friday! Ohhhhh thank you! Love the idea, thank you! Sounds like a wonderful idea to try - we're having a heat wave here, nice way to cool down :) Big thank you!
I love the taste of peppermint and the taste of chocolate and they go well together but Kendal mint cake is loaded with sugar, I suppose up those Cumbrian hills it would come in useful, especially when the weather turns nasty and you're getting soaked and the wind is howling around you, I've never seen spearmint and chocolate and I don't know if you can get it, unless Richard knows anything, have a nice weekend.
Hi Michael, completely agree - we love the taste of peppermint with and without chocolate. You're right, it seems like the only spearmint products we've come across here are either breath mints or chewing gum where as pepper mint(with or without chocolate) is more for sweets/candies. Loved all the fine items we tried, especially with a heat wave going on over here right now :) Have a great weekend!
there used to be a mint sweet Clarnico Mint Creams I believe they were spearmint rather than peppermint, but it's been a long time they were individually wrapped sweets originally sold from the jar by weight very much later they started to appear in packs they were slightly unusual, very strong smell had a sort of crust on the outside a solid softish centre really minty but for some could be a little ickily sweet sold for many years till they went bust production was taken over by another company but apparently they went bust as well lost to history and those with long memories
I like the taste of spearmint even more than peppermint. Sounds nice.
Hi Ross and Tina, I would think Coolin about there!xx😊
Mint Cake/Tablet...So tasty, but lethal for the gnashers! 😬 😅 Have a great weekend and keep safe. Hope you're not too affected by the smoke from the forest fires. Take care.
It reminds me a lot of maple sugar candy that we get here. I'm not sure why I brought that candy up to my dental hygienist years ago, but he said I shouldn't tell him about eating it! The air looks fine and while we smelled a bit of smoke the past few days, we didn't smell it this morning. Though it seems more fires keep breaking out.
My other half used to make Tablet & millionaire's shortbread every so often - tablet is so sweet I could only manage one small bite, preferred the shortbread - also sweet. Alas no longer can I even try these (diabetic) lol. Mintcake also too sweet for me but very nice! Love to see the smile spread across Ross's face when dark choc enters the equation lol.
Hi Jeff, sorry you can't enjoy these treats anymore. Hopefully there are some good sugar free options for treats. We both love millionaire's shortbread and we've only tried store bought versions. Ross does love that dark chocolate!
I like Kendal's mint cake and love After Eight mints, especially from the fridge. Tablet is too sweet for me.
Hi Ruth. That was our first taste of tablet. It's very sweet - I think I can only eat a small amount at a time.
@@FinnLovesFood Yes, a very small amount. Pretty much pure sugar.
Problem is I can eat a whole after eight packet in one go😂
@@EVERYDAYGames00 Me too :)
Great vid love after eights never had the others 💯💯💯😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Thanks Maxine. We love After Eights too. Chocolate and mint is a fabulous combination!
Cuillin is said like kooluhn
Thanks Steve. Had a feeling we would pronounce it wrong!
Hi Tina and Ross hope you’re well I love the mint cake but you really can’t have to much of it love all things mint hope you have a great weekend we might not England are playing tomorrow fingers crossed x
Thanks Vanessa, hope you're well too. Mint is a fave for us too. Good luck to England!
@@FinnLovesFood thank you 🙏 they might need it
maybe the players need kendal mint cake which'll put a rocket up their arse
@@johnhankinson1929 maybe they do 😂🤣
They won they do take you to the edge the penalties were good But saka was star player
We used to have Kendal mint cakes in our ration packs when we were out on an exercise - love them!
They are very good and the chocolate covered ones are even better yet!
i remember years ago when i was younger and rock climbing in the welsh hills, i forgot sugar for my tea, but i had a few bars of kendals mint cake, so i broke some off and put that in my tea... i think we were at South Stack, in Anglesey... they were days i didnt mind hieghts now im older and more wiser i dont like hieghts lol
Did it give the tea a strong mint flavor? Never have liked heights - rock climbing is out for me!
@@FinnLovesFood you know i dont remember if it did or not... but im gunna go get some mint cake and try it again lol
@@CHEEKYMONKEY2647 let us know how it is. It sounds like it might taste nice!
You've got your Kendal Mint Cake, now put on you hiking gear & shoes & go for a 30 mile walk in the hills & mountains. 😁
Now I feel guilty for eating them on the couch! 😁
@@FinnLovesFood KMC is used by hikers, climbers and mountaineers as a convenient source of energy. Glad you liked it, don't feel guilty😁
@@FinnLovesFood but you did manage to hike from the table to the couch , so it counts
@@johnhankinson1929 I'll take that! Too hot for hiking here anyway. 😃
Hovis granary wholemeal bread ,butter , coleman's English mustard, ham, salad leaves, crushed walkers smokey bacon crisps and hp sauce. Best sandwich ever.
Black magic - in my memory banks from the sixties, I loved the hard centre toffee
We got to try some Black Magic chocolates too. I bet the flavors have changed over the years.
Like eating money in AU , nice really sweet with a scrumptious nutty flavour - high class UPF if there is such a thing
Decades since I drunk either of those, not about to get some -
Scandinavians and Eastern Europeans make the best chocolates as well as Belgium, Germany and Switzerland
Hostess makes snowballs as well including a pink one with toasted 🥥 flakes on the outside but obviously the UK one is still of a better quality but those hostess one's i like also and tina thatsa silver and blue wrapper not gold 😊
Oh yes, we remember Hostess snowballs. The milk chocolate tea cake wrappers were red and silver, but the dark chocolate definitely have blue and gold! www.tunnock.co.uk/products/teacakes/
@@FinnLovesFood i know I'm from the UK i was on about hostess. 😊
Hi Tina and Ross great video I don’t dunk my biscuits I just take a. Sip of tea ad a bite of the biscuit that way you don’t get a messy cup much better my fav biscuit is the custard cream have a great rest of the week 👍
Hi Vanessa, Happy Tuesday and thank you for the compliment! If the biscuit holds together well, we don't mind dunking, but you're right - there's the possibility of messy bottom-of-the cup. Ohh custard creams, love those :) Have a great week too!
Righty ho! It’s now tiiiiiiiiime to answer the $64,000 question Ross n Tina …. Tell us..in regard to your exciting UK biscuit tasting adventures - you have seemingly enjoyed them all! But…. What us good folks un UK land want to know is …. What are the best - UK biccies with all their magnificent flavours, toppings, fillings, icings and lovely crunchiness or… A….USA choc ..chip ….cookie *hmmm…..taps chin* 🤔🤔🤔 No doubt we are all Sitting here waiting for the CORRECT answer 👍🏻 and it’s over to youuuuu two! 👉🏻🤣🤣🤣
Hi Weedle, Happy Tuesday! Oh..oh no pressure there! Nooo!! Okay, since I cannot speak for both of us, this is Ross, and Tina will need to provid her opinion. I would have to say, the UK biscuits are the best. Now don't get me wrong, I love home-made cookies and biscuits, especially chocolate chip, but being able to try real UK biscuits has been a pleasure. The wide varieties of flavors you have available there makes me want to apply for dual citizenship. We do have some decent cookies/biscuits here, but there's just something about the taste and quality that stands out with the ones we've tried from your corner of the world. I've mentioned it before, we have a variety of creme filled sandwich cookies here which I've enjoyed but most of the time the creme filling isn't actually 'creamy', but more of a firm paste-like consistency where as the filling in the UK sandwich biscquits tend to have a creamy center. A harder question would be of all the UK biscuits we've tried, what would be a fave - truly difficult to answer. Whether it be Party Rings or a variety from Sainsburys, Fox's, etc, a pleasure to try. Our Pepperidge Farm and Milano cookies, I would say those are stiff competition :) Question, are Millionaire Bites actually considered biscuits?
Hi, Helen, Tina here. As far as store bought biscuits/cookies it seems the UK has a greater variety of flavors and some fantastic flavor combinations compared to here (though we don't buy cookies very often). The ones with jam are still some of my favorites - Jammie Dodgers, Jam n Cream. That being said, I do also love soft-baked cookies, especially peanut butter cookies and snickerdoodles. Not sure if you get those flavors in the UK?
Goats Cheese, Figs with some redcurrant jelly is da bomb!!
Cathedral City is amazing on toast, you melt a few thin slices on the toast under what you would call a Broiler and also add a small dollop of the branston on top of the cheese. This will allow the cheese to melt into the pickle. A little different to your standard grilled cheese. Alternatively you can use a splash of Worcestershire Sauce instead of the pickle .. delicious
We've tried that with Worcestershire sauce, but haven't tried melted cheese with Branston.
Love 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯
Hi Maxine, Thank you! Hope you're having a great Tuesday!
Anothere great biscuit tasting ,shortbread is so good made with butter .strowberrys and cream shortbread is good as a desert .Take care and all the best. 😊😊👍👍👍
Hi Kudapooda, Thank you for the compliment :) Ahh the taste of butter in shortbread, something very comforting about it :) Ooohh thank you for the idea, we'll remember that, haven't tried it with cream and strawberries (making us hungry now! Thank you, you too and have a great Tuesday!
Have you tried dipping those Fox's cookies into your Velvetiser hot chocs or coffees? Mmm.. a gorgeous sweetness overload. Maybe better in the cooler months of your year! Enjoy!
Not yet though we did try the other chocolate and latte flavors. We need to try them iced. Today it was 106F/40.5C and tomorrow it will be 111F/44C! Looking forward to those cooler months.
@@FinnLovesFood oh my goodness that is hot. Keep cool and well-hydrated.. the iced coffees are a great idea!
It was funny how Ross's face fell when you suggested sharing the orange one! 😀 My Scottish grandmother told me that if you try to break a biscuit in two but you get three pieces then you can have a wish! 😏
😄Poor Ross! I wish we had known, we could have made a wish!
Chocolate orange for me, although I could easily scoff the lot if I was allowed lol.
😄The Fox's chocolate orange was really lovely!
I find the oaty creams a bit dry. agree with CHEEKYMONKEY2647, It's like a faithful friend when life is going tits up. A cup of tea and a custard cream puts the world to rights lol
Custard creams seem like basic biscuits, but they are yummy. Sometimes a simple malted milk biscuit hits just perfect for me though I do enjoy all the fun flavors.
hobnobs one of the best cookies from the UK but you cant beat the good old 'custard cream' with a good cup of tea.
Yes even humongous custard XXXL cream size ones Costa do blooming lovely
Always nice to have a go-to comfort treat. Ross really like the HobNobs too whereas I lean towards the Chocolate Digestives (though these Caramel Creams may beat them out!)
Totally agree Tina Mcvitie's caramel & cinnamon biscuits best I've had in in number of years 😋 only seen them in B&M or Farmfoods stores in uk. Pity Mcvites don't list these in main supermarket in uk sure they sell really well Then foxes orange ones.
Are they just starting small with the caramel and cinnamon biscuits? Maybe test marketing them? They are very different from the other McVitie's we've tried and they're so good!
@@FinnLovesFood B&M I normally buy from is equivalent of your Target stores in the USA, get lot of non uk market products although most made in the UK are destined European and World markets. Bit like kit kats in York nestle also do the Australian kit kats then ship to Australia which cheaper than the production costs on Australia. As far as I'm aware Stockport in uk is Mcvites main base in the UK during covid years mcvitie's tried launching various flavours of digestives. The strawberry and cherry bakewell and lemon drizzle, case wrong time to introduce it. Although be fair I don't think any of us realised just how much covid would be around like manufacturers thought be a seasonal thing. It was good Mcvites re did those flavours as I was able send u all 3 a year ago. There be a smaller box on its way to you in late July or early August at latest some new things I found. Chocolate have wait till late October which be my final boxes altogether in October/November 2024.
@@rthoc71 we didn't realize the Nestle products were made in the UK and then shipped to Australia. We just tried some of the Mars bars from Australia.
@@FinnLovesFoodI think the Raspberry Smash Mars is from Australia. That was very nice, but only have tried one, and not seen them since
Think u just about had every combination of mcvitie's and foxes so far not been anything new out lately, so u will have had luxury to taste everything from these 2 great companies that most fellow Americans be in awe of.
Thanks Richard! We've tried so many we start to get them confused. 🙂
hi guys great biscuits my favourite are short bread i like dipping them in yogurt😄
We enjoy shortbread biscuits too. Never thought of dipping them in yogurt!
I'm with you Tina, oatmeal makes me cough, I've just realised that the Jaffa cakes are made here in Manchester (Stockport) which I didn't realise and when the wind is in the right direction you can catch the drift of the biscuits being baked and it's a 24/7 operation down the road I don't know how many biscuits Richard has sent you but I'm sure you will enjoy them, chocolate and orange really go well together, enjoy
Nothing new on the spycam in Mcvites lately 😂I keep looking
I keep sniffing 😂@@rthoc71
Ahhhh, Jaffa Cakes, still one of my favorites. We have a lot of biscuits left to try! The Fox's chocolate and orange were really tasty. Hope you're having a good week!
