Sasha, you have no clue! The fed was late on hikes and now they have to be late to bring the prices back 20-30% because there wages did not go up except the hourly minimum wage wage. If you work in IT or finance the salaries did not go up at all in the last 12 years! What are you talking about? And yes greedy bustards who bought cars and houses at insane prices will pay for their mistakes

I get the logic with a deflationary cycle - but I don't think its as true as it may have been 30 years ago that in an economy in which prices are falling, people will curb their spending and wait for prices to fall further. We live in the age of FOMO - it might be a factor, but I don't think it is as big a driver as it may have been in the past.

That inflation drop of 0.1% DOES NOT INCLUDE FOOD OR ENERGY. It's pretty much a useless number when it comes to the reality of living and paying your bills.

now property taxes are going up 30%+ and no one is talking about how that’s gonna effect our monthly housing expenses… These new higher monthly payments should kick in around October, then the cost of shelter will skyrocket…. I absolutely have to raise rent prices on my rental properties to cover the taxes and many other landlords will do the same. The taxes on my home just went from $8,000 per month to $11,000 per month due to the value of my home increasing and now the property is being reassessed at the higher value. So how can the price of shelter go down while property taxes are skyrocketing?

Also, given the amount of debt and leverage at all levels of society from governments to households, deflation would trigger a debt crisis because deflation would mean the debtor would have to pay the debt back with higher purchasing power money. Don't worry though, at the first sign of deflation, the fed will pivot to QE again and if needed, negative interest rates or yield curve control.

To play the devil's advocate, I don't see the economy going into deflation. People are spending like there's no tomorrow. If you look at inflation levels based on the skewed CPI reports (from which they conveniently removed certain categories) they compare the inflation increase (still an increase by the way) to the already massive levels that happened post 2020. Kind of like oh, the inflation levels have gone down to 2% compared to the outrageous levels of 10% post Covid. If you compare the price of anything to the pre 2020 levels everything is up by 30-40% including housing and food. You could even argue that people need a little bit of a deflationary period so that their salaries can start catching up with the massive levels of inflation that happened in the last 3-4 years. Most people have only gotten 2-3% raises a year and they've had to get second jobs just to not become homeless. To advocate for a rate cut so early shows a lack of understanding of how much everything has increased in price in the last years and how badly the average American is struggling with the prices that we have right now.

Most people on lower wages have not had a payrise in years in the UK so hopefully deflation in the UK won't be as much of a issue in Britain so would it be the same in the USA.
