Hi Sasha. I started following you in 2021 when you were around 38k subs... I took your advice.... Dollar cost average... Opened an ISA and invested in the S&P500 aiming at 6-7 % a year growth and gained 32% in 2.5 years and continued through the lows unchanged by the crypto bros and fear Munger's.... Thanks for these videos and I continue to pass on the same sound advice to others 🥃

I've invested primarily in dividends for a very long time. This is not to say that I do not own growth stocks-I do. A well-rounded portfolio has to include elements from both areas. Maintaining a sizable cash cushion is one technique to reduce the stress associated with stock market trading. Although I invest in the market, I never use all of my funds there.

Instead of reinvesting in the same stock, I occasionally utilize my dividends to purchase additional income and growth stocks for diversification. But to each their own ways. What matters is that you're investing in the first place, which is a positive thing.

If you're not a fan of traditional retirement accounts, have you considered a taxable investing account with a focus on dividend-paying stocks? It's not as tax-advantaged as some of their other options, but it can still be a great way to save for their future. And in order not to make their wrong choice, you should speak to Julie Ann Lerch. her's an expert in their field

However by applying a bit of common sense ( only invest in companies you have heard of or dealt with) and doing a bit of due diligence am making about 34% return over 2 years. Will confess I've made a few cock ups but going well so far as there's always the extra, unwritten rule that so-called experts don'[t mention. Never invest more than you can afford to lose

Hi Sasha. Excellent advice. I think you could add one more bit to it - if you have a low risk tolerance don’t forget adding some Gilts to your portfolio, especially if you are a high rate tax payer and have exhausted your tax free locations. Gilts are not subject to capital gains tax and as such you can invest in the low-coupon ones and get 4.5% after tax. You would need to be making 8% consistently in equities to beat that and it’s hard to do much better than 9% in the long run. This is almost risk free at the short-end. Why would you put it all in the market with this return on risk?

I allocated myslef 10% of my portfolio to play around with betting on stocks. I did this for a few months. Some have gone up a good amount for me to drop the hammer and sell, others have gone up and now back down, while others have gone down and back up. I treated it like a bit of fun and yes I am ahead but I don't have the time to monitor it and I can see it'll just become more stressful, so my plan now is to sell them off when I think it's the best time, whether they go up or just break even etc and sit back with my boring etfs.

Pay into ISA first then Pension later, you will end up with the same or more funds if choosing the same investments. You may have lower fees. You will have access to the capital for longer meaning less likely to need insurances and if switching to a higher earner later in life you will get more cash from choosing pension later as you can get higher tax relief on cash you earnt before you were on a higher tax relief and then paid into pension. This is so long as the pension rules stay the same and you pay attention to how much you can add into pension in a year and there is the risk that if you don't continue to work over the period at which you need to pay in the pension you will have a different pay in allowance.

In addition to putting in the time to evaluating companies for investment, prior to pulling the trigger on investing in them establish exit criteria. Can be as simple as it's grown x times, it's enough for a down payment on something like a house or car, the CEO completely loses their shit, said company loses it's market advantage - entirely arbitrary and up to the investor. Having the exit criteria in place will help hold through difficult times, even reinforce adding to the position. If the company dies (or goes on to be extremely more profitable), re-evaluate the criteria for future investments. It's also important to understand and not be blind to risks.

Excellent one. It’s wider than stock market though. It’s a social commentary of the modern world. People also make their identity about a bandwagon cause too and can’t ever let it go even when it’s no longer relevant. You’ve also basically described a pro poker player. Boring but solid grind. Oh and also Parish the Palace chairman too. But the masses don’t want that. They want gamblers

Real investors dollar cost avg into semi overvalued companies and hold for the longterm. Buying the dips despite the noise.

I bought into AMD when it was $9 and they were getting chips into new consoles and there was a lot of hype in the gaming sector about their Threadripper release and newer Ryzen CPUs. Enough said on that.

I love the authenticity of Sasha and this group. My pension statement arrived few days ago and for the second year in a row AVIVA has lost me THOUSANDS of £!!! So, I am going to make a change. Can any one recommend any decent SIPPs and/or stocks? TIA everyone 😊

Good advice, a boring invester is a good invester. Although, even if someone were to invest in an index fund they would still have to grapple with 40% downturns in the market every 20 years or so, and potentially decades of zero returns at some points. Index funds are not without their risks.

Shasha, Could you do a video please on why UK mortgage rates are less than the Bank of England base rate? Seems that many banks are defying BEBR. You would normally see mortgage rates higher than BEBR. What is telling us about the underlying economy?
