Every reel company on earth that's ever made spincast reels have had to admit Zebco is the undisputed King in that category. I'm not saying they're haven't been other fantastic spincast reels but Zebco owns that market and from what I can see always will. Could you imagine the millions of fish that have been caught on Zebco spincast reels!

Agreed then trying this design could really make a stink for sure... I dig the Diawa spincaster and the underspin 120 is kind trick for skipping and such..I know folks make fun of guys using these.. But, in my opinion...I don't care what folks think if I'm catching fish. Still takes skill, cuz most of these things are not great on drag,retrieve etc... I tried the sniper out...just spinning it around..didn't get to fish it

The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel kzread.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.

I met the people who designed and created this reel at the Bass Pro World Fishing Fair last week. Great folk, passionate about their work. They also claimed that, testing in the BPS parking lot, the Sniper outcasted the Bullet by 100m. They are assembled in Springfield, MO, home of BPS and my own hometown so I am pretty inclined to support them. They even invited me to come to the factory floor for a tour. I just bought the Omega Pro so it’ll be a bit, but I will definitely be making this my next reel purchase.

I'll keep my Bullet. The Sniper's spool is too small and doesn't oscillate. They're on the right track though. I do like the hybrid type gears on the outside of the reel, and the drag reel. I'm looking forward to more of them coming out.

Bullet is proven, this is certainly an exciting innovation and what Zebco needs to consider. We’ll see if it’s actually good.

I ordered one after watching your video! Got it in 2 days! Man it is sweet! Hey you know what you missed! Its got gun iron sights! 😆 if (sniper rifle) take it and aim your eye by the button has 3 dots on top that detail was sweet.

The Abu Garcia pro max spincast is a nice combo, I can cast it way further than I thought spincast reel could.

I own both the bullet and the sniper and sniper wins hands down for me. It casts like a dream, is incredibly smooth, has a faster gear ratio and looks great. I highly recommend giving this reel a shot.

Don't look like they make a left handed model. If they do that I might give one a try but until then I really like the Bullet MG. Great review of this new reel. Gave me a lot of info as I just saw one for the first time about a week ago.

Do you use yours to fish for largemouth bass? Wondering how it does

I like your thoughts on this and perhaps Zebco will look into being more innovative. A couple years ago I put in a submission suggesting a lighter & smaller Bullet. Their response was negative at that time, hopefully they will see there’s interest and people are willing to pay for a better more ergonomic spincaster. Most reviews I’ve seen on the Sniper has been negative, such as lack of torque/power and just cheap build quality. Looking forward to more reviews of it on the water. Keep up the excellent reviews my friend!

I fear they just make too much money off the cheap walmart items to the masses to necessitate any big innovations. Your comments about the sniper are well founded. I have not been impressed by the lack of torque.

Yeah I bought a kingkast that was suppose to blow my zebcos out of the water. Still my least used reel. The President by Pflueger is good and my Daiwa Gold is excellent. I use the Delta most and they are upping the IPT on the 2023 model along with a new housing for the Delta and Omega Pro. They also came out with the 20(snaller) version of the Bullet. Must have been enough interest. I think the main thing is Zebco needs to see enough people buying top end spincast to make it worthwhile. They also have baitcasters now, but I think most will go out with a bigger name brand for that style reel. I have the O-Pro, Delta and Bullet and the Delta I use most often, even if the reel rate is kinda slow compared to the others. Very reliable reel and was the cheaper of the 3.

Does your Sniper have a spool clicker? I picked up the micro version recently and was disappointed that it doesn't have a spool clicker. All of my other spincast reels have them. Took mine out the other weekend and caught some baby trevally jacks. My experience with my Micro Sniper matches yours with casting - it's nice. The drag system feels disconnected where the line tension doesn't seem to be proportionate to the drag star; very narrow band of drag settings requiring approx 1.5 lbs to pull line off the spool at lightest setting.

I had to sub just for the intro. Love it. LOL

Profishency is a newer manufacturer and their sweat spot is $50-60 combos. Their products quality varies from combo to combo. I like them over all and have two combos but Walmart’s OT and OTX combos are better and cheaper.

check the kingkast brutus first holds more line smoother will out cast the bullet 5 ball bearings 3 for the bullet price

Looks like the new Omega Pro, could be the answer.

I have 3 bullets a little rough on retrieve and dont hold enough line ...I bought 1 brutus ...out threw the bullet 2 nd cast the brutus holds more line and retrieve is smooth ...I ordered 2 more .

This reel is awesome but still needs work I had issues with the push button and bringing fish in the casting is awesome

Definitely not a perfect reel. I agree, the casting is amazing, but the crank-power is awful.

How was it over the summer and fall!?

I own both reels and the zebco wins hands down! The size of the Sniper was what appealed to me since I hold my reel like a bait caster and the gear ratio was better but doesn't matter when you can't even crank in a perch with it! No joke! If you don't crank the star drag down with both hands till it hurts your fingers it won't reel in a small fish, it just free wheels ! Looks good but a zebco 202 will out perform this reel! Don't waste your money!

Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, this aligns with my experience with the reel. It casts great and works if I pump the rod and reel down with maxed-out drag...not ideal. I need to make a video regarding all the negative feedback...namely terrible cranking power.

For $120: is it worth the money 💰 with 6 lbs of drag. Great for smaller fish like stock trout.

Looks like an interesting reel.. pretty amazed that there are perfectly good conventional reels in this price range with much higher specs all around, and some guys could prefer a spincast. Then again, I am no expert, and even tend to prefer the round reel over LPBC, though they have their place with me as well... interesting reel though

It was not designed by Americans it was designed by a Japanese angler who was making jackshaft outside gears on the side of small Zebco spincast and they got the idea from him he had belt and chain drive the Japanese mention that to him that was subscribers to his channel that they and others were stealing his idea said he didn't care if they stole the idea that he didn't feel like he could produce it anyhow it at a reasonable price he was 3D printing the reel parts just blew my mind and then I see this

If you had one spin cast to buy overall right now for anything from panfish up to let’s say walleye and bass what would it be regardless of price or name? Thanks.

Zebco Delta. Good price and an excellent reel. If you need a fast retrieve Bullet or Daiwa gold.

Hate to rain on the parade but I think this reel is horrible. Bought one right when they came on the market and the cast button broke on my first fishing trip. Took it apart and the plastic cracked making it unusable/unrepairable. I have zebco reels from the 80s that are still working decently. Also have newer models like the Bullet and Omega that work like a dream. Even the Daiwa Gold has been dependable despite its mixed reviews. I hope they can improve the functionality of the Sniper and invest in better quality materials. I really wanted to love it but I would take 3 zebco 33s for the price of 1 sniper anyday.

Can it backreel?

Hey boss, thanks for stopping by. So far the casting and retrieving is nice and smooth. The ergonomics are great (baitcast level without worrying about the birds nests) I will say I’m not impressed with the crank power. Lighter tackle may not have an issue. If you need a reel that is 100% squared away with no drama I would hold off. If you have the time and money to play with a new concept it’s worth a shot. I’ve used it a handful of times, so there are still unknowns. It has landed a real nice bass though!

Would this be comparable with a baitcaster if you’re fishing for largemouth bass?

Certainly comparable, after using it a while I'd say the crank-power is weak in my opinion. The casting is awesome however and you don't have to worry about bird's nests like a baitcast reel. I think it was built for bass fishing in mind. Thanks for stopping by.

David Dudley is a very accomplished professional angler on the BASS Pro Tour, FLW, and MLF

Never heard of her.

Name is pretty uncool. Have to try it to judge. I have a lot of spincast reels, but you have to use them to get a proper feel for them. I have an old 2020 Zebco that has a star drag on it. That isn't new, its actually old.
