Even the mighty Daiwa couldn't unseat Zebco from the spin cast throne & in the 70's & 80's they gave it a heck of a try

Zebco is the king for now.

After years of using various types of reels for freshwater bass fishing from a kayak I've settled on Zebco spin casting reels, usually the platinum series but even the cheaper ones do amazingly well. Spin casting reels are a fast, no tangles, way to fish out of a small boat where untangling line can be a real pain.

I have three ZEBCO Bullets and two ZEBCO Omega pro reels, the are not perfect but I like them a lot. I was looking at the ProFISHiency sniper and it had very bad reviews, so I did not put any further interest in it. I owned a Diawa Gold Cast during my High School days, and remember it being a pretty good performer. I do not fish for any very heavy fish, so spincast reels serve me perfectly. I do own Spin Cast and Bait Cast as well. Thanks for the video!!

There's a simplistic charm about with a spincaster...and mostly trouble free in transport and usage(good quality reels that is), I think I'll put a zebco bullet MG in my fishing arsenal, thank U for the review...fish on!

I agree with all the negative reviews, after your initial video , I bought two snipers, one broke on the third cast, push button failure. I love the omega pros and bullets...Zebco, please make a bullet with heavier drag!

Your thoughts are dead on sir, The whole fishing world is hoping and praying the Zebco will copy or match this design and produce a reel similar to this one , Profishiency clearly has the right idea, built the wrong way, If they were to come out with maybe a Gen 2 model of this reel that addressed those weak points " THEY WOULD" likely force Zebco to look at theirs too !!!

Thank you for another great video! I was considering one but glad I waited. If you don't greenlight it I'm not buying it. I agree 100% on your plea to Zebco. Can't see why they wouldn't dominate the market with the concept.

I wish you would do a video on disassembling and cleaning the sniper. BTW, I agree with everything you said about the sniper. I have 2 I bought to try. They have been fished heavily and hard and will be until we wear them out. Maybe they can get it corrected or maybe someone else can build a reel with that retrieval rate by then.

I like zebco omega pro. Got a nice sleek design to it.

I had been looking at the Sniper on Amazon and thought, "How cool is that?". Then I saw your in depth review and the not-so-cool things, that you said about it and thought, "No, thanks!". One thing, that I'll say about Zebco, is that they have been manufacturing spincast reels since they, along with Denison-Johnson, invented them back in 1949. I bought my first fishing Outfit way back when I was a young boy in the early 1960s. Back then, the rods were all fiberglass and I paired the one, that I bought, with a spincast reel of a long-forgotten brand. As I recall, I wasn't really impressed with it so I ended up going with spinning reels. To be honest, the problem was more with me than with the reel. Being a young lad and a novice, I never got the hang of casting with it However, now that I'm way older, I feel as if I want to try another spincasting reel since I can see how much these reels have improved in appearance and performance. I considered a handful of options, including the Zebco Omega Pro, the Pflueger President Spincast, and even the Zebco Roam. Now, I am leaning toward one of the Zebco 33 combos particularly the 33 Rhino or the 33 Black. The only question, that I have, is this. I read that a good reel should have at least four or five ball bearings yet the 33 only has three of them plus the clutch. Is this enough? Anyone, who knows the answer, is welcome, with appreciation, to reply. Thanks.

3+1 is plenty of bearings as those are the minimum (in my opinion) number required to serve all the critical areas and functions. Going past 4 is moving into luxury territory and not entirely necessary, though they make the experience nicer. The top Spincast reels in my opinion are the 33 Platinums (budget), 2023 Zebco Deltas, 2023 Omega Pros, and the Zebco Bullet. Great reels. Thanks for stopping by and sharing!

I dont know why people keep referring spin cast reels as beginner reels, ease of use, yes but i don't see them as beginner reels, fishing should be easy and enjoyable. I'm 65 and have used every type of fishing gear and reels, fly casting gear and bait casting gear was an absolute pain in the behind. spinning reels and spincast reels are definitely the way to go! easy to use and thats what fishing is all about, the fish don't care. and as far as spincast reels go, I have a zebco one classic, and a zebco 33 classic, thats old as dirt, and they still work fine fishing gear should be trouble free and easy to use! I think most fishing gear is meant to catch fishermen not fish, you can catch fish using a cane pole and string!

Hey there,.. I remember using a Zebco when I was just a wee little boy,..there’s nothing wrong or bad about these reels,… it’s all about preference,.. I’m 63 now and I have seen and used many many reels upon many many more reels of every format… so what this guy has a better reel than you,… ? BFD.. 🤣 As you stated,.. it’s about having a great time with ease of use .. I like all types of reels,… it’s what makes fishing so much more interesting…. I also enjoy using my rare vintage Abu reels balanced and tuned ,… ready to rip a lure 150/200 yards out… no, a Zebco can’t do that,.. but it’s the only thing it can’t do… an aluminum soda can will serve as a reel… if it works for you,… use it… 👍😎👌

It’s because they’re easy for a beginner to use. A reel that is easy to backlash or overspin(aka the other two choices of reel style) is very much not for begginers

People a fishing reel any fishing reel is a line control and recovery tool . it's not a winch! You always pump and reel! Catch em if you Can😉

Zebco is #1 in closed face real. No matter what in my book of tricks. Just saying do like the proficiency stuff but no compression the two. Every zebco iv bought is still working just fine. Is not made like a baitcaster no matter what two defenses job don't think it will be 6.1 and going to pull it in just a few turned to crank it for the fish to be dragged on the bank.

I just Iost my two main reels, I'm really wanting to try out the bullet but that will be a while before I can afford it. However loosing my main setups is going to set me back a while. Is there any way you would be willing to help me get back out there fishing?

i have a sniper and i used it maybe 5 times and it has groves in the spinner head and cuts the string

My white one seems to be better than my black one. Not sure if that’s always the case. Like there was a bad batch

Do you still prefer the Bullet over the Bullet MG??

Haha I broke the white reel in the video trying to take it apart…I’ve disassembled the black reel successfully but it’s a challenge at first. My life is so crazy right now…so many videos to make….

Ordered the sniper after seeing this review. Disappointed. Profishionsy is a ok start but has a long way to go to hold a light to zebco.

What about zebco 33 vs sniper?😂🙏🏽

Let me know when you find one I am also looking for the best closed face reel out there. Just a pity they don't engineer a proper one it's the best concept reel but just so poorly designed.

Its a shame because the snyper looks cool. I own the zebco bullet but it looks goofy.

We had high hopes for it...

having graduated from spincasts when i was 10 i just dont get why the attraction for serious fishermen. the design has inherent fatal flaws that can only be overcome with very expensive parts, like roller bearing pick up pins etc. good review tho. a pflueger presidente is under 50$ and will outperform these things for decades.

They have an advantage in the colder months for bass. Due to their bad gear ratios, they can help you slow down the retrieve and entice more strikes. Some reels are just geared too quickly to be effective in the cold months unless you're very diligent about physically slowing your hand down.
