I have to say, I like the SLX: However comma, this looked like a total set-up on the Zebco 33. Brand new rod (SLX) vs old rod (Zebco 33) and the old Zebco hasn't been maintained for years. Then roughly a third of the time lost because the upper half of the rod was offset creating the line to be twisted, which hindered the reeling ability; as soon as it was adjusted, you caught a fish. No telling how many fish would have been caught on the Zebco if it would have had a fair shake...I place my win on Zebco 33 due to SLX disqualification...lol. Good & fun video to watch!

The Zebco Bullet and Omega Pro are both great spincasters that will more than hold their own with many baitcasting reels.

The 33 would work better if it had new line and was maintained. Maybe a decent lure.

Now switch the reels on the rods. The longer rod casts farther, so it covers more area. Also... Some maintenance on the 33 would be more realistic. Thanks

I've forgotten to clean more fish than he's ever caught. Also, what fisherman has never heard of the 33. The reel doesn't make the fisherman

Is nobody going to mention the one thing that has everything to do with catching a fish? Anyone notice how it would have been a fair comparison if the lures were....the same??

The old Zebco reels from the 60`s , 70`s and 80`s were the best. They went to crap in the 1990`s when they went to all plastic inside parts. The old stainless steel Zebco One was a real beast .

My brother used to take me out fishing as a kid, and he caught huge fish on a scooby doo rod he got at a tag sale lol.

this is wack,, you say your compairing the reels but you have different lures different rods and different line ? plus you already said the shimano was going to win befor you even started. i wouldnt say this was a compairsionof reels ...

I liked my slx dc reel so much I just bought another one Tuesday . The 33 is a great reel for bream , good for throwing a beetle spin!!

Take and old Zebco all day long over the new junk out today

I fished with a bottle of Coca-Cola and some line and a hook. a short time later my dad bought me a Zebco 33 Classic with which I caught big fish. I think the comparison is at a disadvantage, they are very different reels. one is open machine and 33 is closed machine.

I USE 33s and love them they still make them I have 5 of them I think?

if you buy a cheap bate casting reel, it won`t work, a $200 Dollar works. But most fishermen like me, have use low end reels. Spinncasting works for and others. You did a good job on vid. The most I have spent on a reel is $20 dollars. I just have fun fishing. No boat.....

that silver reel is a 33 platinum not the one ball bearing reel the 33 authentic has one ball bearing and you are comparing a 200 dollar reel to a spin cast reel you didn't Evan no what type of reel the 33 is to Evan compare it to a high dollar reel like that bait caster you should compared the 33 to a more pricey spinning rod and reel set up they are similar in every aspects not so much as a bait caster a spincast is a marriage between a bait caster and spinning rod you should of compared the zebco to its other more pricey spin caster on the market diawa and pflueger cast king south bend Johnson bass pro shop mr crappie and abu garica all make spincast reels you should compare the zebco to one of them brands of spincast reels iv used spincast for years and some of them other brand and the zebco out of all them brands are the best you inability to Evan use it its your fault for not using it on a regular basses there great with less line twist or back lashing unlike a bait caster and a spinning reel great video

Benig the old man that I am I started with a Zebco just like that! I own that Shimano slx and it’s bigger brother the curado DC. But I don’t bash the old G Zebco I have so meany memories with my dad teaching me to fish. You have to show some respect to the old G reel

I really like the Zebco 33 as well. Simple to use and line capacity is minimal, unlike a spinning reel. The only drawback is the retrieve ratio. The Zebco 33's retrieve ratio is a little slow but adequate for fish under 6 pounds. The Zebco 33 gears are solid metal and the line retrieval / cast pin is ceramic so as far as quality wise the Zebco 33 is very durable for most everyday fishing. We used to catch 5 pound pike on a Zebco 202s when we were kids and the reels were great.

Heck yeah you caught ole Nemo!!!

Here's the deal young man. It depends on the experience with each reel. They can go head to head all day long with the right operator. Myself I have used spincast and spinning reels for over 60 years now. I can outperform any baitcaster due to my experience. On the other hand I have tried some baitcaster a few times and it required a whole different skil;set to use. It was a total disaster and very disappointing experience for me unless I was willing to put in the effort to learn how to use one. So in a nutshell neither is better than the other. Your opinion was good because we could tell you have used the bait caster more. I found your presentation with the Zebco 33 was very much not what a real world experienced Zebco user would see. Try doing a video comparison with items you are experienced with. You have a very good presentation skill and good clarity. Try it again.

The rods those come on are not the best but I got my wife a new zebco 33 rod and reel combo from Walmart they are super cheap super easy to use and she absolutely loves it.

Good fun. I'd have used identical lures to eliminate the color/action bias. Spin-cast are also bending the line 90 degrees around a little post and can NEVER have the drag/line protection of a casting reel. But I will say - I used to fish nights for catfish with a Zebco 33 (and an even worse Zebco 202) and on occasional landed 30 lb carp. They work. But my Shimano Curado DC is in a different galaxy for casting and smoothness.

@@nboldrini But I do. If a reel balks on the drag spin-up with a charging fish that can be game over. I tend to use relatively light poundage braided lines.

Should have used the same lure on each.

The 33 is a good reel but there is plenty of power with a Dock Demon...check this one out caught by a friend in Corpus Christi, TX.! The Zebco all day for sure 33 up to the 808 a bass masters win by Lews with it. And many more with the spin casting reels. The bait is not the same and with old line cheep crank bait also great job complaining about the zebco. Baitcaster is a big joke to me it just a headache with theme. Just thinking 🤔

Why use two hands to cast.

"Figure out how to cast the old Zebco to make go where you want it to go?" It's not the reel, it YOU and where you point the tip. You did not do justice the the Zebco "Spincast" reel. Red Cajun, "red" is for deep fishing, and the fact that's it's old doesn't help. It seems you wanted to compare the two reels just to make fun of the Zebco. Zebco has been around for decades, and there is a reason. Have a good day, try it again, or give the Zebco to someone who will appreciate it. Wahi' Valleys

Old reel sitting around vs new reel???. Not a good comparison. I’ve used Zebco reels for years and years and love them. Talking crap about an old reels vs new , really is a joke. I have a Zebco 33 platinum and would put up to anything

Why do people think 🤔 you need a $200 fishing rod and reel. I got a bigger fish then my friend with a Pole he said would not work for Bass 🤫 it was better than his not happy proficiency sniper go figure.
