@ YakPak the mono fishing line is brand new , and it goes wild and tangleswith your rod line tip, wrapping around, and turns the rest of the rod around. After a while of use the mono line it will streach out, and not tangle or have it's own retention. There are different type's of mono line. The 2lb mono line has the worst tangle when brand new.

Glad you're havin' a good time. I finally kicked the skunk off the boat after several years, and in the same day my brother broke the family fishing curse catching one himself as well. (Family curse: If i'm fishing, either I catch fish, or noone does)

Check out the black and yellow one that comes with 6# braid. Grab one, pull the 2 piece rod apart, put a little super glue on it, put it back together and line it up, and change that 6# whatever brand braided line to 8# power pro and see how that goes. Set the drag to where there barely is any. It's going to reel in really slow, but it can handle more than most people would expect.

Start with a spinning reel a lews Would be best when u start getting tips and do research get a baitcaster they are really accurate also the hardest reel to cast but a shimano daiwa lews will be some of the best ones u can get lews also has affordable ones like the american hero spinning and baitcaster

They sell Profishiency rods at Walmart too. My son has a nice Profishiency combo he bought from a local tackle shop. Not a bad rod at all.

I have a 5'6'' white profishency rod i use with my Abu baicaster. I LOVE throwing my weightless and 1/4oz with it.... its probably the most fun rod i have.... i like it more than my 7' rods and Lews reels.

Dude, Walmart sells profishiency rods, i bought the 7'2 medium heavy spinning rod, it's awesome i love it, got it paired with a $20 shimano FX 2500 reel from walmart, the drag is awesome on the reel, they also have a 7'2 baitcaster medium heavy, and a 7'6 heavy rod at Walmart, you need to check'em out YakPak

Back in 1969 I used my birthday money to purchase one of the first spinning combos to be imported by Daiwa the next summer I hooked a huge carp and something in the reel broke I tried to handline the fish but it broke the line, I opened the reel body to see what broke and discovered that the drag spring was nothing more than a cheap flat piece of metal that had broken in two. It was many years before I would buy another Daiwa product.

Wish you would do a review of the lews reactor reel from Walmart people are sleeping on that reel for 70$ it’s an amazing baitcaster check it out norm did a video using it a while back but really didn’t focus on the reel and you can’t find a video on it I picked one up and put on my lews laser rod first now I have it on a hank Parker signature lews rod I absolutely love that reel they actually have a matching rod I want it but unfortunately they didn’t have the length or strength I wanted so I went with the hank Parker rod
