I got an old ryobi fishing reel and pole with very old 8lb line (I'm guessing). It was kept in a storage unit for ever but it SCREAMS and whines when reeling a big fish. Kinda like yours lol. I know it needs greasing and good line. Pointless comment, sorry 💀

Next time set tent/ camping spot in the shade so it doesn't get so heated up and then fire pit beyween you and the water.

Camping advice don't eat where you sleep. I know the chili plurted all over your tent so kinda ruined that. The smell of food will bring creatures to the area both big and small. Bugs, coons, whatever else is in the area. Just a tip.

I don't know about the one's down there, but the Army/Navy Surplus Stores out here absolutely everything you need to go fishing and camping. Never seen one used in for a challenge.

A really easy fire starter is cotton balls covered in a mixture of Vaseline and rubbing alcohol it will even strike up with a fire striker I use it a ton for camping and getting my charcoal going for my charcoaler
