@@krugerm1 and don't simply lecture them, as I was. I tuned it out. I ran away even younger than this...thankfully I did not end up with this same path but plenty went wrong and it did expose me to danger and the wrong kind of people. While watching this video I just apologized to my dear departed Mother and Father. What they must have went through not knowing what was happening to me breaks my heart. my advice for parents of daughters is this; please talk WITH your daughters not AT them. And do it early , and often. The trust & communication between girls and their parents MUST be established well before puberty happens. I cannot believe how careless , defiant and naive I was , and so many like me. I had great parents. I had depression though and never felt able to talk to them about it. What they never knew was I had already been raped by the age of 13. I never said a thing because I thought my Mom would be hysterical and that alone was something I felt I could not deal with. And also I was afraid I'd get in trouble for being someplace I wasn't supposed to be. Trust is everything. Children will not confide in you if you tend to overreact to everything. Sorry but I hope this helps someone.

The first time I was raped, it was by my husband (my then fiance). We were both virgins, and we tried to go all the way one night and it didn't work as I had thought. I asked him to stop, but he was much too into the mood. I learned at that point in time to just completely shut down and just accept whatever was happening to me. And this continued for ten years. I would fall asleep feeling just fine and wake up with him inside of me. For ten years. I was afraid to fall asleep. It led to years of insomnia and anxiety. Being raped doesn't just hit a person and then gets better. It affects them for the rest of their life. Every little social interaction. Every slight change in routine. It all matters.

Lancey Lance uhm fucking relax. First of all, you got the ABSOLUTELY WRONG ONE, both to try to convey that point to and the wrong person who said those words. The guy they caught in the sting who came up to have sex with girls quoted at 14-16 told the police that caught him, “I just wanted to make more friends.” Second of all, no, clearly she was fucking underage and that is statutory rape. And she was raped initially. I literally don’t care what your opinion is, don’t talk like she didn’t deserve help. And if you could step out of victim blaming territory for one second, you’d realize the entire story is also bringing attention to Backpage. Don’t try to hold a debate about it. Period. If your daughter went through this, whether she put herself in the situation or not, I’d expect you to be there for her. And if you won’t be? Don’t have kids.

I know a girl who was 15 at the time. Some guy in San Jose basically kidnapped her but when people tried to get her back home she claimed she was having fun & didn’t want to come home. People in town ended up finding her page on back page. He had dressed her in lingerie and took photos of her and posted them on back page. About 2 months after that one of her friends came out and spilled everything on an ABC interview. That’s when everyone realized how serious it was & how she was being trafficked. It’s scary that I personally know someone who went through something like this. It just comes to show how common this is. & it’s scary. The girl ended up Coming back home only after that guy was arrested. He was a pimp & tattoo artist named sharkee who would do tattoos in a hotel room and pimp out teenage girls. So many people judge the girl that came out and did and interview with ABC because she giggled her way through the interview but I think it was just a coping mechanism for everything she went through and she was really brave to come out because it’s thanks to her that the pimp ended up in jail and a lot of girls were set free

A month or two later, they call a family member or a friend, crying and shaking, begging them to take them home. They are all traumatized now and refuse to talk about anything that happened while they were away. I think it's time we start drilling into kid's heads that no matter how bad they think their family is, it's a million times better than what WILL happen to them if they run away.

Farve4ever589 but it did have something to do with it. It was THE website that she was sold on. That is a very very important detail. Now on a different note, I was meaning say she was only on the streets and was with that pimp she wouldn’t have slept with those 150+ people. Didn’t you see the amount of people leaving messages, phone calls, voicemails just in half an hour only for the sting operation. There would be no way for her to sleep with that many people in the amount of time she had been on backpage if she had been on the street. It’s just that she would have to wait, then get picked up, then taken back, then give the money to the pimp, then go back to the streets. With backpage it was almost like a back to back schedule setup so she would be able to go straight to the next person’s location and repeat. That’s what I was trying to explain if that makes since

It scared the crap out of us. This video should be shown in early-high school health classes today. I know kids are exposed to more today because of the internet, but they certainly aren't more mature because of it. Parents need to do everything they possibly can to show their kids the dangers out in the real world, and that NO, at 15 you don't have a clue how awful it can be out there on your own. I lived in Seattle when I was 18. I almost got kidnapped but I managed to get away. It happened again when I moved back home. So after those I stopped going anywhere by myself after that and to this day I'm still skittish when it comes to going anywhere alone. When I am alone I am always looking around at my surroundings and I can't have people walk behind me. It always freaks me out and I will get into an anxiety attack. So I will purposely make the person walk in front of me. It can get better for her but there will always be something that scars her for life.

This whole thing brings back all the memories I have of what my family member was goin thru (we were 15 ourselves Im the same age as her). These kinds of things have been happening on backpage for years unfortunately. We are now in our late 20s, that's how long this has been goin on. It's so sad honestly

Thank you Detective for caring about kids. I wish there were more detectives and authorities like you. I screamed real loud in Pennsylvania about the trafficking of the children in my neighborhood and no one did anything about them… But they harassed me for speaking up. I’m never gonna stop speaking up for the children who are hurt by this. They need more adults standing behind them… Supporting and loving them. Not more adults hurting them. Much love to you for this video. I’m sharing this.

Catholic Priests may be Blamed (Never mention Ministers, Rabbis, Imams, and other denominations, whom, according to statistics, about equally prey upon young boys) (and to a much lesser extent, young girls!) Teachers of course, are NOT to be considered too closely. Oh, sure, the occasional headline, but no Serious investigation! Arresting Teachers who Prey Upon Students would result in Significantly More benefit to Society than the negligible results we have achieved in 50 Years of Kabuki Theater against underage prostitution! If for no other reason, a Teacher who has been convicted will have a Much tougher time getting back into a school. Pimps with criminal records are hardly at a disadvantage. Its also significantly more likely that a Student may be influenced to testify against a teacher, than a runaway prostitute. Both types of Girls and Boys are equally Children of God, however, street kids are Less Likely to Trust the System (even if for understandable reasons).

I want to thank this detective and the law enforcement that did the work this sting. Making sure that he not only saves the girls but that he also worked to get it to the court. And even more so he will stay with her for the emotional support to do the case. This is soldier for the lord. Foot soldiers that God calls. And even if people don't see it this way. This is a mission that is its own ministry. It may not look it. But as they all get help. So does the person purchasing as well as the pimp. It's called when God puts brakes on the darkness and floods it with light. I have a message for law enforcement. When these smaller crimes are found you have no clue how tied into the biggest amounts of crimes are really being joined by these groups. One day I want to give the value. Because it's huge. It's nations. One day I hope to truly voice what it really means to nation and nations defense to handle their crimes in their city streets and small towns differently. It's about the victims. But really it's about the perpetrators. Sometimes it can seem so small that a cop may think. Sex trafficking or child abduction, child pornography, drug trafficking, what's the big deal. A cop may go. It's a small town. How does this one make a difference. You would be surprised how much the battlefield your postitioned in is really a big deal to the bigger pictures. So for every officer that reads this. Can I encourage you. To see your position as a ministry. To wake up every morning. Praying for more than coming home safe. As we all pray you come home safe. But to feel sent. I have been a repeat victim of violent crime. And I want to one day make my story clear on how being helped by law enforcement vs attacked as a victim by law enforcement and not helped makes a huge difference to so much in both Canada and the United States. I believe God will build me to share a testimony over what a officer is fighting for and against. What our country's are worth. What seeing what a child is worth. We are all worthy. Yet we turn a blind eye so many are to be taken and not found. I am praying over our nation's this week and our law enforcement bodies. Big and small. The kind of victims support we give. The way we see human trafficking. The way we are handling the situation where it's not some unknown person who is the John caught like in this video. Because many times the higher the influencial person caught by officers like this amazing law enforcement body it can build complications to those cases. It's those rings thatare the larger causes. Things like the place being used to post the adds. We can't fight the war without the Warriors. And what each warrior looks like can be different. I hope to one day have a ministry to help make people see the value. I believe God puts it in my soul to do this for many reasons. So to this detective thank you for answering the call gods put on your life.
