I've been through multiple abuse, emotionally unavailable mom and never had a dad with severe social anxiety, depression, bullied, no friends. And at 15, I knew better than to be with my teacher. If he touched her, she should've told the authorities right away. He's disgusting and horrible however I also believe that for a 15 (young adult not a child) should have had enough sense to go to the authorities when the teacher displayed such disgusting behaviors?? Not feed into it. Even with emotional abuse, you knoW when someone is trying to become sexual. At 15 I knew better and I've been through just as much abuse throughout my life without having sexual relations with the teacher. @@mattfirth987 Nope. She still may not be charged as an adult-especially given her circumstance. The affluenza boy who killed 4 got off extremely light because of his background. The two situations are also dissimilar. If, in the situation you presented, she was coerced by an authority figure to kill her sister in order to get away, she would be charged differently. It wasn't two 15 year olds that ran away. It was an old man and a minor. He was not only a much older adult but someone in a position of authority and took advantage of a child, knowing her harsh home life. The blame falls on the adult. The victim is the child that was coerced by a man of authority.

I find it so strange how people say respect your elders or that us young people are social media obsessed idiots. It’s always the younger generations who I see defend victims 100%. We don’t give predators any excuses and we know who was the victim and who was the monster. Proud of this generation.

You are right. Respect a person according to how they treat you and other people. Older people are just as human as anyone and have their vices and manipulations too. And because they are older you see them trying to live through young people by trying to control young people. You have to be careful of old people who do not hang out with other old people but are around young people trying to "guide" them or give them"advice". If you are not related RUN AWAY.

It isn't always the younger generations, though? I see many of the younger generation do victim-blaming. You also have to understand that older generations were raised differently. Also, people aren't wrong. The younger generation spends more time on technology and social media than any other generation. And respect one's elders is a term used to show respect to those who have lived on this Earth much longer than you, as a way to acknowledge that. Those point have nothing to do with your claim on the younger generation, so I am confused. Correct me if I am wrong.

He convinced her that it was the only way "they" would not get into trouble, and being a child she believed him. He is a very convincing man when you first meet him, seems very Godly and wholesome. I remember him talking about this girl at the wedding. She was not there but he talked about how his daughters friend had moved in because of her home life not being good. I can't really described it, but in hindsight you could hear it in his voice and the look in his eyes that something was amiss. He was and did groomed that child. Any teacher which is a position of power who will cross that boundaries between teacher and student is wrong. The reason she is a victim weather or not she’s old enough to know better is because of the power difference. We are talking about a teacher and a student in this situation the teacher is in power and has a lot of influence on her. She probably sees him more than her own parents. In school we are told that the teacher is right and that we listen to what the teacher tells us and we do what we are told. And that is exactly what we do. As far as we are concerned what the teacher tells use is true and we believe it to be true. She is 15 he is 50 another thing that holds power. We are told that older people are wise and what they say is true because they have experienced life. This is a 15 year old student with a 50 year old teacher. He could have told her anything and her reasoning would have been “he’s my teacher why would he lie to me. He is old he knows what he’s talking about.”

I feel really bad for this girl having to deal with all of this and having her life exposed in this way and then for people to think that she wanted this WTF she’s a child. People that blame her are just as sick as this guy.

He went from helping her to predator the moment he kissed her. You cant treat someone like a daughter and kiss her on the lips and groom her. It's very possible she went with it thinking it was normal and thinking about how much he has done for her.

I can understand the homeschool part. Especially when there things going on behind the scene. There is no escape. I hate homeschool and not that good at socializing with people especially with opposite gender.

LOGICAL MIND She went from homeschool to high school. That’s very different than being homeschooled throughout or starting homeschooling as a teen.

Nope. A lot of homeschoolers have social groups. And a lot of kids in public school still do not get proper socialization. Let's just start blaming public school for all the criminals it pumps out.

This comment and the replies are great. The 1st comment contains grammatical errors and shows no forethought. The pro-homeschool replies are well written and make concise points.

Wow you're extremely ignorant. Has nothing to do with the schooling. I'm homeschooled and can socialize with people just fine. Some people are generally more shy and don't like socializing. That's not the schools fault.

It’s horrible that people keep accusing this poor girl of asking for it. She is a victim. People that believe that this girl was asking for it should rot for the rest of their life.

So gross for grown adults to be saying a 15 yr old TOOK ADVANTAGE of this POS 50YR OLD groomer. SMH No wonder people don't speak or want to persecute going through with alll the court stuff and making things public since they'll get blamed or not believed anyways.

obviously she was aware of what she was doing.. but saying that a 15 years old was taking advantage of a 50 years old man.. wrong, wrong, wrong she was a child, she needed affection and love because her parents failed to give it to her and HE took advantage of that
