Dana completely changed his diet, started exercising consistently, and fixed his hormones with TRT - those are the reasons his health got so much better. The main issue here IMO is he’s attributed all the positive changes to his health to a bunch of pseudo-science which could influence others to go down the same path. Like you say, stick to the basics and build a solid foundation first. That’s what gets results, not some special red-light therapy bed or cold plunge routine etc.

It's easy for everyone to be dogmatic about their approach, especially within the science based community. Blows my mind how convoluted everyone makes health and/or fitness. While he said as much despite using way WAY more words than necessary - to lose weight/ maintain a healthy weight or... to gain weight for those hardgainers out there.... all it boils down to is calories in and calories out. It's that simple. If throughout the day including your workout you burn.... 2600 calories.... if you consume 2400 calories - you'll lose weight. It'll take time but over the course of weeks and months you'll see the pounds start to fall off. If you consume 3000 calories though.... you'll gain weight. Whether you get those calories from mostly fats, carbs, or protein it doesn't matter.... regardless of your macro split and whatever dumb trend name you call your way of eating or your "diet." If you just want to maintain your weight... like let's say you're 5'10" and 195-200 lbs..... but you're soft. But your plan is to start lifting weights SERIOUSLY and implementing some cardio. I suggest coming up with a meal plan, count how many calories are in said daily plan. Count how many grams of carbs, protein, and fat are in said daily plan.... and go from there. For the hypothetical person in question I'd say start at about 2500 calories a day. Maybe 2600. Do that for 2-3 weeks. If you lost weight.... eat the same exact shit you're eating.... just up the portion sizes and consume 2600-2800 calories. If you gained weight... eat the same shit... just cut back the portion sizes and consume 2300-2400 calories. If you maintained your weight - perfect. 2500-2600 calories is your sweet spot. From there just tinker around with your macro split if you want. Thing is... all these fad diet chasers.... probably have no fucking clue what a "macro split" even is. They are confused when people say it all boils down to calories in vs calories out regardless of how much protein, carbs, or fat you take in. They likely don't realize "calories" come from your macro nutrients... "macros"... protein, carbs and fats are the 3 macro nutrients. Protein and carbs are 1 g of either = 4 calories roughly. 1 g of fat = 9 calories. A "macro-split" is something like 30-50-20..... 30% of your calories from protein, 50% of your calories from carbs, 20% of your calories from fats. I personally find the easiest split to stick to FOR ME is something like 35-45-20 or 40-40-20. Everyone is different. And all these fad, trendy named diets are.... is slapping a name onto whatever macro split. A "carnivore" diet a assume is eating a ton of meat.... so... protein. So it's likely a 50-30-20 split or even a 60-20-20 split. That's it. Calories in.... calories out. However you slice and dice up your macro split.... generally doesn't matter. That is if all you care about is maintaining your weight or trying to lose weight. You don't really care what you look like physique-wise. If your goal is to turn some of your pudge into muscle to look more defined/cut.... you might want to pay more attention to your protein intake... and divvy up your carbs and fats... however. Like I said... I think a 40-40-20 split is great. I weigh 200 lbs. I try to get 200 grams of protein (1g/1lb bodyweight).... it's just easy math that way. 200 grams of protein = 800 calories. I then get about 200 g of carbs... another 800 calories. That's about 1600 calories. I consume about 2500 calories a day. So..... that leaves me about 100g of fat.... 900 calories. 800 protein calories, 800 carb calories, 900 fat calories..... = 2500 calories. A couple months ago I cranked up my lifting program so I just added a bit more rice and veggies to my lunches and added a bit more veggies to my breakfast casserole I make for the week while also adding a snack of peanuts for the fat.... my protein intake relatively stays the same.... maybe a couple more grams from the rice and peanuts. But my actual split is probably more like 35-38% protein... 42-45% carbs... and still 20% fat. It works. I can still see my abs despite eating all those "evil" scary carbs. I keep the fat low... or relatively low (very low if you're a keto person which is the trendy way to say a high fat intake macro split) because while fats aren't scary or bad for you..... it's just they're double the calories of protein or carbs..... meaning you'll be eating half the amount of food to consume the same amount of calories. I like eating... I don't want a half to 2/3 empty plate of just fats. That was a lot of words but I felt I needed to explain the simplicity of it all.... and what macros are. Most here are probably well aware of all this. But the whole nutrition thing... like everything else in the "actively-trying-to-make-it-more-complicated-than-it-really-is" fitness industry.... it's pretty simple. Calories in vs calories out. Workout CONSISTENTLY 4-6 days a week for an hour a session or at least 45 minutes.... and track your calories while monitoring your weight.... and you WILL get to where you want to go eventually. It's that simple. The WILLPOWER and DISCIPLINE to carry it out... THAT is the tricky part but that is entirely on the individual him/herself. You won't lose weight... you won't get jacked.... if you half ass your workouts... and passively approach your nutrition. It's called adopting a healthy LIFEstyle. It's why I hate the word "diet." With how that word has been used for decades IMO it implies.... temporary. It's a fitness LIFEstyle.... a nutrition LIFEstyle. As in... you should be approaching it with the mindset of - this is how I'm going to live my life... until I die. Which is why fad diets that damn near completely cut out carbs or fats... or protein (I'm sure some dumbass has come up with some protein-less fad diet) are stupid.... and almost never work for the long haul. You might get a few years out of it if you're lucky. But.. like 99.oo% of the time... practitioners of said diets - fail. Because it's such an unnatural way of approaching nutrition. It's why most (not so... so calm down) vegans look so sickly. According to Google's AI (that's going to destroy the world eventuality, haha) when you search "how many vegans stay vegan" it comes back with.... "according to a 2016 study 84%[!!!] of [not only] vegans [but also] vegetarians... abandon their diet." About 1/3 quit within 3 months and a little over half quit within a year. So all those insanely vocal... and annoying.... vegans you knew a couple years ago - likely ain't vegans anymore. Just another dumbass trend. Why do 84% of them quit? Because it's such an unnatural approach to nutrition. They actively made nutrition way more complicated than it needs to be. Like so SO many others. So once again.... calories in vs. calories out. That's literally all one needs to know. That's like nutrition 101. Nutrition 102 is just understanding macros... which isn't complicated at fucking all either. And that's it. Those 2 things.... that's IT. If someone tries to say otherwise.... they're like the majority of the nutrition/fitness world and actively try to make this shit way more complicated than it is. Why they do this... I don't know. Maybe it's because they don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by telling the truth. Which is - it's not that hard.... IF you have willpower and discipline to stick to a proper, we'll balanced nutrition plan consisting of REAL whole foods AND a workout plan. And deep down everyone knows this. Everyone knows what food they SHOULD be eating. Whole grains, nuts, fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy... you know... REAL whole foods. Not processed bullshit. Everyone also knows that most jobs today are bullshit jobs so they are pretty sedentary so they know they should be working out daily. They know these things.... but it's "too hard" and "not fun"... which is another way of saying it's not easy. They act like they can't lose weight or get cut/ jacked because.... of "their genetics" when in reality it's because it's too much work for them.... and they're lazy. They'll spend more time thinking of excuses to not live a proper healthy lifestyle than take the 45-60 minutes a day to hit the gym. They'd rather take the 10-15 minutes to prepare and eat their overly processed meals that came packaged in a box than take the extra 10-15 minutes to prepare an actual meal that consists of ACTUAL whole foods. People are the way they are - overweight/obese - because they're lazy. It's as simple as that.

My sense is that Dana White has over-indexed the "unconventional" aspects of Brecka's regimen. I think Mike even points this out in his original video. Dana threw the kitchen sink at his health, so it's a real big "?" as to what effect any one vector had on his overall transformation. There's a saying, "What get's measured, get's managed." Well, I think the inverse can be true, "What goes unmanaged, cannot be measured."

I don't understand what is supposed to be "very complicated". Dr Mike gives a very simple explanation. There are 2 reasons Dana White would find it "very complicated" 1. he's stupid. I assume he's not. 2. he knows he can't argue with logic, so he avoids this discussion to push a diet that's not proven good, because "it works", because if it doesn't, he is the clown, and he can't afford that. I think I've figured out the profile. It is an anti-science person who, under the pretext that a doctor has not had the miracle answer to one of these problems, thinks in a binary way that everything is to be thrown away. A bit like saying that I tried an influencer's exercise, that it didn't work, and that they are all incompetent. It's very reassuring to think that the experts are incompetent. This implies that anyone can claim knowledge. The fundamental problem is that nothing about the approach is logical. But in the end, there are a few who get results. It's a mix of survivor bias and broken clock. Hopefully, he's not saying that his method is good. Just that it works for him. But I advice everyone not to count of survivor bias and instead listen to what science offers :)

But he said (Dr. Mike) carbs and sugars from fruits, vegetables and whole grains that I agree with for someone who isn’t metabolically damaged. For high performance athletes yes! But for Someone who is metabolically damaged they need to go low carb and low calories. At the end of the day calories does matter but so does macro ratios for the right person. Dana White is right there isn’t one diet for all. Keto for me personally works THE BEST for me to cut. Also, eating refined carbs is the problem to begin with

Ignoring highly specialized DRs who are not corrupted is silly. Dr Mike is highly credible in fitness--so it is a very good idea to exploit him. Likewise, you need to exploit Earth sciences on rocks? ... You go to a geologist who KNOWS the area and is highly credible in the field ... Physics understanding? Exploit a physicist! Lol ... Dana is in over his head on the doctors dispute, lol...

Yea you don't need a fkn dr. To tell you to exercise and eat right. Just like you shouldn't have to Google the weather to find out if it's currently raining on your a$$. Where the fk does common sense come in ?

"Doctor is an academic title that originates from the Latin word of the same spelling and meaning.[1] The word is originally an agentive noun of the Latin verb docēre [dɔˈkeːrɛ] 'to teach'." Source: wikipedia. i know its not the best source but hey, its wikipedia. Dana should just call the "real" doctors... medics and leave people with PhD alone and call them by their respectful academic title. Calling people with PhD fake Drs. is very disrespectful.
