I think a good question we can ask ourselves is if we were vulnerable and trusted someone who cared about us and looked after us, but then they were to kill us afterward, would we think that person loved us?

@Roger No, they're no psychopathic people - they're apathetic and selfish, but not bad. That is a lazy, normative way of thinking that serves very little purpose. I think the idea is that if you tell someone that they're "bad," there is little motivation or reason for them then to change. But if we hold the idea that someone is at nature compassionate but is making bad choices, change is still an option. Calling people monsters and psychopaths serves only to further entrench the people who are apathetic in their negatively impactful habits and lifestyles. There are people who make good and bad decisions, but very very rarely are there ever, in my opinion, bad (to the core) people. We all have a negative impact on living things around us, maybe not intentionally, but we do. We are not BAD because of it, but we are not good either. Expand your idea of what it means to use such simple words to describe something so complex..

The majority of animals are in factory farms and not grass fed for example. According to the FAO, 14.5% of green gazes come from animal agriculture (I advise you to read the article). And agriculture is not always bad, think about crop rotation. After all, even if you are possibly right that veganism doesn't mean ecology-friendly, i mean, the intention is in. It was just insulting to mention us and Ed as "deceiver and sheep" when all what we are trying to do, is being compassionate and help the environement. We have an overwhelming impact on the planet's environment and are obligated by that fact, to source our food responsibly. As you imply, we (with very few exceptions) are not hunter gatherers. We go to the store and buy food that has been grown or raised instead of food that was gathered from the wild or hunted.

Vegans... what is love? Do you guys actually believe this? Actions do not equate to feelings. Actions are only used to express feelings but those expressions can ignored. I can hate him so much that I want to destroy him but then think logically "but I'll go to jail" or this or that will happen so I choose not to. Same could be said with love... I love you but if I don't do this or that then this other thing wil happen. Think beyond your feelings vegans. People can ignore doing what they want or feel they should etc and do an action merely out of logical reasoning or because of a greater love or hate for something else.

Instead of ending the hypocrisy by going vegan, he took the stance of, of course I'll eat dogs and humans in a society where those things are accepted. My husband prefers his lunches be mostly a meat and the rest a veggie like broccoli. I can’t put pasta or rice or anything like that or he gets sleepy. Earthling Ed Thank you for tirelessly standing up on behalf of the most vulnerable and the most egregiously treated individuals....the animals. I think it's a problematic false dichotomy to frame the context of the moral question of whether needless killing is justified or not in terms of 'killing' vs. 'loving'. Of course different people have different notions of what "love" means but I think it's safe to say that many people would agree with this definition: "an intense feeling of deep affection." It's what we think of when we think of a girl/boyfriend, spouse, the family cat or dog as just a few examples. The act of needlessly killing another individual is an act of not respecting their life, not an act of not loving them. So I'd argue that the correct framing ought to be: "You cant respect animals and kill (eat) them.....change my mind". Just my suggestion. The much better option instead of 'loving', IMHO, is respecting.....which I'd argue is the actual converse of 'killing'. I don't love most people in the world yet I respect their life....I wouldn't have to love someone in order to not kill them. In fact, there's plenty of animals whom I don't love and yet, of course, I respect their life. Love ≠ respect. To love someone is not the opposite of to not kill them. Much love to you.
