Clayton Bigzby It is not Horse or any other shit, Animal abuse has known psychopathic connections to Human abuse, also the ( mainly) Wealthy Western countries are using 80% of world grain and Legumes to feed the 70 billion animals bred for eating every year. 90% of rainforest destruction is caused by animal agriculture. Vegans are almost entirely peaceful folk, even when I went Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian I felt more peaceful not eating meat, then a couple years later went Vegan and felt like I had reached a new higher level of peacefulness towards others and myself. What we eat DOES affect people’s psyche. ‘’Living Compassionately is about making connections between the way we live, and others suffer’’( the late Kathleen Jannaway Pioneer & Visionary and Co founder of the UK Vegan Society, 1944)

Clayton Bigzby In a Holistic sense all oppression is interconnected, we can’t have Justice, Equality, Compassion etc without extending it to ALL life. No one can be truly happy and content while they know others are being oppressed, and or Ecosystems are being poisoned, trashed etc/Destruction of vast pristine habitats. So the misfortunes of others is intrinsically linked to our own wellbeing, unless a person has a psychological impairment that makes them indifferent to the plight of other Earthlings! 🌎✊🏽🌻

@Robin Patricio This works well for you Robin, total and utter rejection. But taste has nothing to do with morals. If you are raised to eat something it is normalized. I use to love Cheese. You know what turned me off cheese? A vegan cooking channel cracking a joke about Cows buttholes being above their teats & Splash Back of fecal matter. I knew of this fact before this joke. But my world veiw at that time was very different, this all comes with a lot of self work we have to do in de programming, no different then someone losing their religion. Let's just say Anthony Bordains book the Dirty Bits was poetic to my teenage heart & I ate deer, rabbits & snakes, river crawdads & turtles as well as frogs. But as my morals has changed, grown as a person, so has my romantic heart. I veiw the world in a very different perspective now. Our Biosphere is not a hunting ground. It is a Garden. . But I did miss my old eating habits for some time. Good Gardens have frogs. It is an active choice not to eat them. Shame is a personal discovery, as is the total rejection that comes with it. A joke made me cry when I fully realized how much litteral bullshit I had been fed my life. . That was year two of being vegan. If they are already on team Lets Not Murder Every Thing On The Planet just give the person some time. Taste pleasure is one mind fuck of a drug.

As a black vegan, I'm really glad this guy spoke to you. I'm sad that some of the comments on here are tearing him down instead of supporting him - THIS IS A FUTURE VEGAN! The same passion and anger he feels towards discrimination against black people (which is COMPLETELY valid), is the same energy he will use once he is vegan, I am certain of it. He's completely correct as to stating some vegans would not put the same energy into fighting for human oppression as well. Me being a vegan, have had experiences with white vegans that are completely NOT compassionate when I discuss black oppression (which goes against VEGANISM)! I share my experiences and I get shut down (I'm even seeing that in the comments)! I'm glad you stated that indeed, you can support different causes at the same time, and I believe you Ed, definitely do, however, I can't say that about a lot vegans. I stopped eating meat nearly 10 years ago and I'm super empathetic which makes me want to stand up for not only animals, but other marginalized groups as well (POC, LGBTQ2+, etc.). I'm lucky enough to have met and married another ethical vegan, and we are most certainly going to raise the most compassionate and open-minded, vegan kids. The more compassionate we raise future generations, the better the world will be - fact! :)

I'm sorry but I'm not understanding the correlation between black people and Asians? If you really think modern black oppression doesn't exist, then I don't know what to tell you. I understand if you do not want feel like a victim, and that's totally fine as it's your personal choice, but the reality is black people, mostly in America, are oppressed. I don't disagree with this man's approach, and he realized himself that his anger was misplaced and that these issues are interconnected and that is why I'm glad it was Ed that got to speak with him. This thought that black oppression ended after slavery or segregation was abolished is naive. To put it in perspective - if all slaughterhouses in America were shut down today, would that automatically end animal oppression and exploitation? Would other forms of abuse of power in regards to animals disappear? Or, wouldn't it take generations to get rid of systemic and personal speciesism?

@Sound Logic: Just want to start off by saying I'm totally willing to discuss with you, however this Cherri Cordial character is on one... I'm with you that Asians endured discrimination in America and that should not be forgotten, but the struggles that Asians and Black people went through, although inherently similar (apart from the conception), went down different paths. The banks denying small black business from acquiring loans (even when they have the same credit as whites or asians) preventing them from getting off the ground, housing and community developers denying qualified black people from buying homes in their communities, thus having to settle in poorer communities, which in result affects the schooling for their children (less resources, less qualified teachers, etc). Even after WW2 when there was a shortage of factory workers, it was a struggle to even allow blacks to work because people simply did not want to work alongside black people. Then there's transgenerational trauma (i.e. seen in Holocaust survivors, as well as in Canadian and American residential school survivors), which also affects black people and their coping mechanisms (fathers being separated from their children in slave times, mothers learning to be less emotionally attached to their children so when they are ripped away, it's easier on the children, etc.). On the Asian side of things, Southeast Asian Americans have some of the highest dropout rate and highest poverty rates that often gets ignored because of this "model minority" stereotype Asian Americans have - so I don't want to take away the fact that Asians also suffer issues as well. I myself am not a victim actually. I'm lucky enough to have been born in Canada, with immigrant parents, and apart from dealing with ignorant and racist people on occasion, the system in Canada was not built against me like it is in the US (I thank my lucky stars I was not born there). Speaking of Africa - where my parents are from - the reason why there's a slave trade happening is also due to racism against Africans. Countries like Italy are funding Libyans to capture, enslave, and sell Africans who are trying to go through Libya to immigrate to their countries because they do not want blacks coming in. In fact, even if you are black person born in Italy, you do not get citizenship until you are 18 years of age and have to apply and prove your 18 years of living in Italy. You may ask well why are Africans leaving their countries? I think that's an obvious one as European countries stripped them of everything. Are all African countries victims and innocent? No, I believe tribalism is something so wrong in African society, leading to their own demise. I currently live in Germany, and I simply just have to steer clear of self proclaimed Neo Nazis who like to shout "Nigger" at me - sorta like this Cherri Cordial person commenting using "you negroes" without even knowing who I am - I see them as trolls and just need to be ignored to not fuel their fire. I fight the loudest for animals due to the fact that they are voiceless. I say goodbye to the pigs being transferred to slaughterhouses and bear witness to it, I go to marches and events protesting, I educate people in the street with the help of "anonymous for the voiceless". That doesn't mean I can't also use my voice to speak on inequalities in society in regard to POC, LGBTQ+ community, refugees, etc., which I also do. We are perfectly able to fight more than one fight.

Veganism means causing the least amount of harm reasonably possible so yes, there is such thing as a full vegan and although our existence causes harm that doesn't justify causing the most amount of harm possible. Just because animals suffer when we buy coconuts that doesn't mean we unnecessarily buy bacon because that's not fair on the pig. And at least with coconuts we have the excuse of health. Meat eaters don't.

Sonny M All carnist ARE murderers, rapists and alot worse. You can't beat around the bush. They pay for and in doing so also advocate rape, torture and murder. As for you 'allergies' there are actually no know ailments that stop anyone from being vegan in fact a full plant based diet has been recorded to have cured and reversed many illnesses thought uncurable/irreversible. On a personal note my sister has many allergies, including nuts and yet we were raised as vegans and always the healthiest of our peers. I am glad to hear you are going vegan. Carnists turned vegan are the strongest people I know. I would recommend doing more research but clearly just by being here on this video shows you are. It seems like you still believe some of the myths of veganism but you are definitely on your way.

Ed, The understanding and compassion you showed that man was truly gifted. You and the lady speaker calmed him. Because of you he'll become more relaxed about his situation and become Vegan. Life is what you make it. An enslaved dairy cow has no say about her life and the torment she goes through until she is finally dragged to slaughter foaming at the mouth. That man has a choice to grow and nurture his mind and body, he has that freedom. Nobody should own any animal. All pets that we domesticate deserve our ultimate respect for the love that they unconditionally give us. We have no right to breed animals into existence to torment, abuse and slaughter them for our plates. We need to close all slaughter houses and respect all creatures great and small.

Cutting throats on a daily basis and seeing other living beings suffer does something with your mental health... also: in the leather industry in Bangladesh workers work with toxic chemicals like bleach that increase their risk of getting cancer or other health problems. to feed those billions of animals crops have to be grown. 83% of all starving humans come from countries that export crops to feed the cattle in the West. by going vegan you stand up against animal cruelty, that goes for human animals as well as for non-human animals. by going vegan you fight against ALL opression. when you show people that you can live a life without hurting a single soul they will maybe do the same and then we'll be able to live in a world where everyone is vegan and every life is respected

Beccination my mother was the same her culture is extremely meat and dairy-heavy and her fall-back argument was always that we won't make a change because people all around the world are still eating meat and aren't going to stop now. But if you think about an issue like slavery that happened all around the world (and is still happening today) if people said then that a change wouldn't happen in their lifetime so whats the point then a change would never have happened. And it is wrong do keep slaves or eat animals when you dont need to regardless of whether other people are doing it. You are on the right side of history and can touch so many other people throughout your life to make a change within themselves so dont worry about what others are doing. Do the right thing because it is right it's okay to stand alone. But each person does make a change look how the supermarkets are changing with all the new vegan products. And you could of chosen to pay for an animals murder and subsequently increased demand for the murder of another animal, or you can choose to buy a vegan burger and not be part of that
