Guy: "Eating meat is unproblematic because animals have 0 moral worth." "Eating meat can cause people to be more violent." "Killing animals makes you a monster". "Being a monster is a GOOD thing." No, dude, what you are reffering to is power. Humans have POWER over animals. We can CHOOSE to abuse that power, or we can transform it into responsibility. Strength is RESPONSIBILITY - not domination or violence. A strong man is someone who can be strong for the weaker, not someone who selfishly kill others to satiate aesthetic preferances..

@@joshwarrey3728 it has nothing to do with Christianity, maybe with “modern” Christianity, for people interpreting it wrongly by speculation and drawing conclusions from one’s own mind, but the first commandment is thou shalt not kill. Easy as that. And I’m not even Christian myself. And so every every religion started out, to be a guide for morality and for connecting ourselfs with out source. Meaning to know our selfs and God and to actually treat everything as sacred. However most spritual practices have degenerated with time so if one wants to get spiritual understanding one better approach a Bona fide line of gurus where the knowledge are unchanged and where the preacher is a living example of what is preached and what the scripture are saying. So religion is meant to be a tool for spiritual understanding in essence. Scary what ppl who claim to be “religious” are actually thinking and acting…

That is simply not how humans work. I'm a pretty logical person myself and yet act illogical on many occasions. Human feelings, emotions and desires are inherently not always logical when compared to a logical conclusion.

I'm not sure if I agree. It is a little harsh to judge someone's character based on a live debate. Most vegans, me included, grew up non-vegan. If confronted by those arguments it is - as we know - basically impossible to produce any valid argument against veganism. He didn't know that yet. So basically what you expect from him is to immediately, on the spot admit to a stranger that the way he lived his life - how he was taught to think since childhood - is deeply immoral. I am not at all surprised that he responded the way he did. However I'd caution you to conclude from this reaction in this unique stress situation about his personality. I don't think he walked away from this conversation thinking "man I did great. I am so proud of my arguments". Maybe this uneasy feeling of cognitive dissonance will cause him to think more about how he should have responded to Ed. And maybe this is the start of the process that you probably went through already? This stuff takes time - always. It is one thing to point out when someone is behaving immorally - I am all for that - but it feels somewhat cocky to pretend you could judge how someone's mind works based on how they try to come up with an argument that they still think exists. You probably (unconsciously) spent days, weeks, months or maybe even years to realize that this argument does not exist.

Just on his point with Lent and not eating meat during that time...if eating meat makes you angry/wrathful and being angry/wrathful is a sin, then eating meat makes you sin? So why not avoid it all the time to avoid being more sinful?

The entire synopsis and premise of the Bible is literally that man destroyed the vegan paradise called Eden and that God will one day reinstate it. It's not about Jesus or the other three thousand people mentioned in the Bible. How can Christians ENTIRELY miss the point of the Bible?

I was a US Army soldier for several years and not a single ounce of animal flesh entered my body. I got several awards for being one of the most fit, most responsible, and most improved soldier my first one being in boot camp where I was recognized as the best soldier of they training class. Anyone that tells me that you need to be a meat eater to do the things that I did while in the military is just wrong because I did it without meat and many people I met while I was in also were vegan or at the very least vegetarian.
