My unit seized the control arm on the crank shaft so i machined the crank to fit a bearing and turned the crank down a bit to fit. It runs way quieter and cooler.

@@user-lo1kw8yl3i ill try an get a picture of it for you. I used a lathe to turn down the crank to fit an skf bearing an opened up the piston arm a touch to fit the od. I set it with retaining compound and used the crank bolt to secure it to the shaft. It was fairly straight forward. I removed the seals to allow the oil to lubricate the bearing. Its worked fantastic an the crank case doesnt get as hot.

that royal purple oil is made for low pressure compressors. the ONLY oil that you should use in these is oil that is made for highpressure compressors, coltri bauer etc. yeah the oil is somewhat expensive 35-40 bucks a quart but might save your life when compressor or the gun goes boom. that black residue often found on that high pressure piston is carbon and that came from the wrong used oil burning.

While that may be the case this oil was recommended by a very intelligent Facebook group with much more experience than I. Almost two years running this oil without issue. Would i use it if pumping scba? Absolutely not, nor would i use this type of compressor. Given the cost of this compressor spending a quarter of its price on a quart of oil seems a little overkill.

I currently have a pump I don't even know how to use that very well but I'm going to watch that video that you made that should help me but thanks for this video and interesting that it will go for so long before needing an oil change. I was thinking about it 50 hours seems worth it I might pull the trigger and get one

50 hours equals quite a few fills at the speed it does it. Pro tip for the hand pump is slow and steady full strokes. All the way up and all the way down will pump bottles faster and easier.

Unusually warm for this time of year. 30°C+ today. Not a drop of rain for two weeks. Normally it is just 🌧️ now.

I'm using ISO VG 46 Compressor oil. A little bit higher than the red dot marker for mine.

There are many good oils. For me this compressor specific oil was readily available and has shown any reason to switch…..maybe if i was pumping breathing tanks i would though 🤮

VG 46 a hydraulic pump and hydraulic motor oil. You need VDL100 oil, that's the oil for piston compressors (VDL46 is for screw compressors, so dont mix those up). It's more viscous (100 mm2/s @ 40°C vs the VG46 that is 46 mm2/s @40°C)

I changed my oil last week. I'm sure I only ran it for maybe 1 hour or so. Just incase of metal shavings. I also change my water every time I use; only because of all the dust, dirt, and dog hair flying around💥💥💥

It makes sense to just change the water every time you go out for a session. Surely its better for the compressor in the long run not to mention the water is colder after a refill. Heat is what kills these compressors.

Thanks broski. The big fires effecting the USA are in central/eastern Canada. I am on the west coast and it all blue sky here….except tomorrow they said rain for the first time in weeks.

This is a great compressor GX PUMP CS3-I Portable PCP Air Compressor. No water for cooling needed.

I started with an oiless/waterless and it worked awesome when i first got started but nothing can beat how fast this thing pumps except a commercial scuba compressor. I should add the oiless/waterless are far more portable if shooting off site.

Automotive antifreeze is what i mix in the bucket. It has anti corrosion properties and helps pull heat a little faster. If the garage ever dips below zero i also wont freeze my compressor.

Yes you can. I use premix just in case the garage freezes. It can also help shed heat a little better and prevent calcium build up. Some people change their water often so coolant wouldn’t be cost prohibitive.

Yong Heng. Heat is the enemy of these compressors so water/oil cooled will always be better for longevity.

Good video I actually just purchased one today and dang it I didn't check until after compilating my order and saw it dose not come with any oil so back the store I go BTW what brand of antifreeze do you use

I just splash some in for colour….maybe a cup in my 2 gallon bucket. My garage stays above freezing. I use it mostly for its anti corrosion properties.

I used to run royal purple in my 370z but people always told me not to but could never give me a real reason why it was bad. I ran it for a long time and had no issues at high temp and high revs

Penzzoil is just for the rigs. Motul or Amsoil for the bikes whichever is on sale. They both too much money.
