Great post Gary . Thanks for all your time you've put in here. the moister separator cost stopped me from buying some time back due to a total cost that didn't seem a worthy gamble due to lack of credibility on the unit. I think I would buy if I was shooting 24/7 but the odd tenner suits me right now. A club purchase would be a great investment .

I really appreciate the time that you put into this production! Enough so that I had to subscribe to your channel! 👍🏼 I’m rekindling my love of airguns as of late and look forward to the next chapter. I restored my 1979 Sheridan Blue Streak (5mm) several years ago that I received for Christmas of ‘79. I am currently waiting on my new Umarex Gauntlet 2 (30 caliber) to arrive this week. I literally purchased a Moderator for it before I purchased the rifle! I have been studying many videos on compressors and tying to make and educated decision on purchasing one. @@ShootingCountryTV Thanks, I had a good 4th of July holiday. The Sheridan rifle has been around since the late 1940’s (Built in Racine, Wisconsin) and was taken over by Benjamin Arms in the 90’s. As far as the .30 cal Umarex Gauntlet, it is advertised to get something like 25 shots before recharging is necessary. I will let you know how it goes. I’m supposed to receive the rifle this week. My elbow is giving me fits pumping up my old rifle. That’s why I decided to dive into the PCP world. Hi Gary, Great video as always.

I bought one of these 300 bar compressors during the early part of lockdown and had about three years of trouble free use with it topping up 3 litre,9 litre and 12 litre tanks for my to FAC airguns, i had to change the entire top end of the compressor and now it seems to run a bit hotter so i use a bigger water pump( 3500 litres per hour) and a big 100 litre water butt. These compressors are cheap and generally provide good service providing you keep the oil changed every so often and filters.

Well done Garry you have made my mind up! I'm going to buy a BSA compressor😅🤣😂. Well done with that Review 👌👍

Hugely good video. I just got one of these pumps, in the US there are a number of sellers on eBay and even Amazon selling the identical pump for the same price. I paid about $250 and got free domestic shipping. The seller offered “ lifetime warranty “. My previous pump was off Alibaba, a no-name, very much resembling some selling for $500 under brand names. It failed after barely 30 charges and had the mainshaft bushing disengage after a few uses. It was under $200 but shipping was $85, so not really a good deal and no warranty since the seller was in China. My rifle looks very much like yours and I will be filling it to not more than 2500 psi, max is about 3200. Thanks for this video!

hi Gary, another excellent video,…funny as i just bought the warrior version and all the gubbins to have a solid set up at home ,..it all adds up trying to get this air dry and initial layout not for everyone but for me i would pay the money just to be able to do it at home keep up the great work 👍🏻👍🏻

Another great video. Thanks Gary. I have had pretty much the same setup for 18 months and I'm very happy with it. I only fill my 5ltr bottle every month or so as I much prefer shooting my springers :) Few tips I picked up: * I have the bucket raised to give a head of water for better flow. Some people replace the water pump with a slightly less cheap one as they are fairly standard aquarium pumps. * I have my dive bottle above the water filter, which is above the compressor that sits on the floor. This encourages water to drain away from the dive bottle. * I have a one way valve from best fittings between my bottle and the moisture trap. The correct way round! This means I can start with the bottle valve wide open and don't lose air when I stop the compressor * You had a lot of activated charcoal in your "moisture vaporator :) " I think you only need that if you are breathing the air, so mine is mostly filled with desiccant to trap the moisture * I only fill my 5 liter dive bottle from 190 to 250bar to reduce the strain on the compressor. * I've never filled my precious PCPs from the compressor, only the dive bottle * I wrap a damp cloth around the hot metal pipes to help cool them (but avoid splashing the temp gauge etc.) * I blow all the water through the tubes when I'm finished as leaving moisture in the cooling jacket leads to lime scale and corrosion * I also use cheap bottled water for cooling and it stays in a covered bucket. The idea is that it will further reduced limescale * I follow all of your tips (great summary!), except I do use the recommended hydraulic oil, so now I'm worried! I think you said you were going to leave a list of parts in the video description? I think you also promised us a pellet preparation video. really looking forward to that. Hopefully involving springers :)

@@johnwilson6707 The oil doesn't get used. It just get's dirty. At a guess I change the oil it every ~6 bottle fills

Just a brilliant tutorial..i don't know why I watched because I own this compressor...but i really enjoyed it

Put the water pump suction in the toilet tank (it has a float to continue to fill with fresh water). Put the return water hose in the toilet bowl (it will not overflow but will continue to drain).

From what I've picked up so far you want your moisture filter stood verticaly with the absorbant sponge at the bottom tightly packed sieve material at the top then idbe tempted to reduce the length of any connections between the compressor and tank or rifle so I'd just permanently mount the moisture trap and compressor and maybe a see through water tank all mounted on a board. Or in a box with a removable side and top.

Another thing i have learned, dont but the camera on the same tabel as the compressor :)

Wow exellent vid, am so glad i watched this. Its kinda puttin me off getting a dive tank. So may just get the 'safer' 12v compressor to charge the gun. In the meantime ill watch more of your vids, as i think its sound advice and very educational. Many thanks. Liked n subscribed.

Thank you for your time and information. I have both portable one I take when I go for a short rabbit or squirrel hunt and I close to the truck. I know why not just take the tank, it's bulky in my backpack and gets the way when stalking and when I go to the truck I get to take a break The tank is for the range day

Do it , Independence for a starter , but then think of the petrol You'll save !

I used to shoot a lot back in the day, but these days I only pull out the airguns to take care of the chippy's when they get out of control. This gave me a pertty good scare though, as I have two large pressurised steel scuba tanks in my basement that have been sitting there for at least 10 years!! I began emptying them this morning! All I could think of last night was the way he kept making those EXPLOSION gestures.. 😅 I already have a Yong Heng compressor, so I think I'll buy an appropriately sized carbon tank that's within it's service life and ditch the old steel ones. Very good and informative video!!

Hey, thank you for the review and setup. I have the same compressor I've had for over a year. I freeze 1gallon water containers Halfway full and drop them in the bucket of water. especially if I'm filling a tank. The only thing you forgot to mention when filling a tank. I think you leave The tank closed until the compressor reaches the pressure. You have in the tank and then open the tank valve.

Hate to say it, but my TX200HC and RWS 56TH both sit in really pretty rifle rests. And I'm constantly playing with my FX IMPACT MKII. And VERY good info on how to PROPERLY set up any (PCP) compressor.

Hi Gary, have you had any problems with leaks on the compressor at all? I have had a few on mine, mainly tightening things up, but I also put 2 burst discs where there should only be ONE. The upside of that is that I can now fill to above 220bar. The down side is that the copper bonded washer that seats the brass 'blow out' safety valve to the top of the cylinder now blows out. A work around for this is - remove the rubber seal from the copper washer, and use an RO6 rubber washer in its place. So far this has held and I can now re-fill to about 290 bar, it may go higher but the machine was reaching 80 degrees so time to back down. I am sure it wont be long until another air leak rears its ugly head but at the moment the compressor works for me as it save a gallon in fuel, a 1.30 hr drive and the refill costing. PS - regarding the moisture separator unit that come with the machine, I filled mine up with about 8 of the 'white moisture control pads' that came with the machine. If the show signs of moisture I just dry them out....having just one pad in place didn't seem to be enough to me.

I have only quality springers and i,m so glad that i can skip the compressors, diving bottles, air cylinders, adjustments, leaking gaskets and O-rings and the less reliability from a PCP. I just take one of my HW's and a tin with pellets and have fun. Saved also a lot of money😁, but i appreciate you made this video for the PCP guys and girls👍Well done!

Can't convince myself to get into pcp rifles. It is so expensive to get into and seems like a lot of trouble. Maybe I'll just buy a good springer instead.

That's what I thought..I was kinda overwhelmed by all the equipment needed to get into PCP rifles..I first bought this same compressor...then a nice scope..then a nice rifle..airacuda max .22...oh man what a different experience shooting a break barrel... first off your not going to miss that big crow or squirrel and not know what happened..nah..your going to hit him..2nd off your not going to destroy scopes anymore..they last forever and dint lose zero anymore..3rd off its so quiet people dont even know your shooting.. finally your not going to get 700/800 fps with a 14g pellet your at 950/1000 with a 21g pellet.. when you hit something it's serious impact..

Well.....after making the argument against PCP rifles & pumps I now have 2 PCP rifles & a pump. So far no trouble. I can out shoot both with my RWS 34 but not all the time. Extended matches at the club do wear me down with a springer which is why the PCP endeaver.

I have had 3 of the First one stop working in 4 months, 2nd - was returned. the third one exploded. The casing fractured at the cylinder base expelling the cylinder, connecting rod and piston. Thankfully all parts missed my body. After this I purchased a brand name twin cylinder compressor this one required replacing piston rings avery third scuba tank fill. Another one from tuxing with the twin cylinders worked great and has operated well, it has the internal water cooling system. Recently purchased a Italian Cuitri 300 bar compressor and this one is outstanding but very expensive.

Thanks for the review Pork chop, I have the same compressor, the pvc cooling pipes are pants, they can be replaced with clear silicon pipes (no kinking)....I think I put about 750ml of oil in mine from new to fill above the greek.

Great video. I've had one of these compressors for 12 months now. After my first use I had to replace the water pump as it burnt out. Purchased a small pond pump and now use that. I fill a 3ltr tank and it takes a lot longer than 18 mins.

Gary, absolute hero mate, what a concoction of a filing rig, would i use one, not that faintest chance of that. Compressed air is scary enough, this just made it more scary. Thanks.

For information the moisture filter should always be vertical and not on its side for it to function how it should properly, its advisable just to use a couple of cable ties to hold it to the body of the compressor somewhere suitable

Ok quick question.. just tried filling dive bottle for first time. When you open up the bottle valve air start coming out Compressor valves straight away abit scary. Do you start Compressor straight away and then close the valves!! Do i need to buy a one way valve line for dive bottle !!! Thank you for any help.. Gary

Hi Louise, A workshop compressor will get to around 10 bar, to fill a airgun you will need around 200bar. What rifle are you getting?

Here’s a tip, the water (distilled)collected in a condensing tumble drier is almost pure(my works tumble drier produces this water at 10-15 ppm according to my TDS meter but do a tds test before you run it through a brita water filter, you may not need the Brita…. Free distilled water!) So don’t throw it away, we use it in our steam irons and to top our flt batteries up.

Very nice video. Useful 🙏 just one question with filling a bottle. The gun bottle has e return valve. So when you bleed no pressure gets lost The diving bottle has no return valve .. don’t you loose all pressure when bleeding ?

I bought the same make and model as Gary is showing in the video, looks good and feels reasonably well made, but I was still a bit apprehensive about using it as the instructions with it were diabolical. After watching Gary's video a couple of times and taking notes I knew I needed to call Best connections for the appropriate parts, I spoke to Michael Thomas who advised me to send pictures of the parts I had so he could advise which parts to buy, absolute godsend. The parts dually arrived and I set everything thing up as Gary had advised in the video and started to fill my 3 ltr tank, no problems at all, very easy. The only problem I have is that there's no instructions with the moisture separator that came with the machine or the extra separator I bought, and there doesn't seem to be any videos on KZread, hopefully Gary will consider doing a video on how to look after the compressor and the moisture separator. As always a great informative video.

I've read that the separator should be stood on a certain end to ensure it works properly, but what's correct and what's hearsay.

Air from the bottle is not floating back when 2 valves are open en you open the bottle before the compressor is turned on?

@@TophatOrange I just used plain water, however, if you are in a hard water area, use bottled or filtered water to prevent limescale.

my terminator won't go up in pressure. I did things the same way you did. I'm new to this, never tried it.

Would you use anti corrosive products in the cooling circuit ? I've made the mistake of thinking I had drained all the water after 1 use, and the residual water just completely caused the bolts and other components to rust.

Would automobile antifreeze work? Probably a better heat exchaging liquid if compatible. 👍

My BSA / GAMO compressor fill probe keeps popping back out of my Zbroia Hortitsia Mk2 when I’m charging the Hortitsia ; any clues how I stop this ? should I hold the probe during filling to prevent it bursting out each time ?

Hope the activated charcoal in that filter is acid free as if not that an cause corrosion.

I noticed the metal tubing on this compressor are different from most other compressors on the market. I wonder how much it affects the performance of the two units.

Always gets me worried when I think of oiled compressors and 300 bar cylinders. Is there any way the oil can migrate into the air chamber after wear and tear. Is the drive motor / housing and oil, completely separate from the compressor and piston? I.e. Like a shaft drive or such. I'd like to think so, but I'd want to be certain it wasn't dependent on a seal or gasket between two chambers or the like. As you probably know but for clarity of anyone reading this, oil in high pressure cylinders can ignite through compression ignition and it doesn't take much oil getting through at all and it could accumulate over time until it goes bang. You just never know how these are built.

Compressor oil and is bog standard mineral hydraulic oil fyi. Hydraulic labeled is normally much cheaper

I've had 2 of these... kill both filling 7 litter 45 min scba tanks to 4500 psi. one lasted about 12 months,, the other, 6 months. I would suggest you use to direct fill your gun and it will last a very long time. I ended up buying a twin cylinder Tuxing compressor. I'm at 11 months with the Tuxing and its going strong! review is on my channel. Cost is reasonable (about 2X the cost of the little blue ones).

I have also a Turing 2 cilinder and my problem is, is that the oil very quick getting very hot, while the cilinders are about 45 degrees. I wonder, if you have the same experience.

@@PF4531 - I don’t think so but I don’t monitor the oil temp just the head temps. I’m cooling with a 5 gal bucket of water antifreeze mix. I drop in frozen 2L drink bottles of water. Head temp usually about 115-120 F after a 45 min-7L bottle fill. I don’t have an easy way to measure oil temp. I kind of thought the cylinder head is where most heat is generated. How do you measure your oil temp?

@@motorgearhead I don’t measure the oil, but after about 15 minutes, I see a little damp coming out of the oil breather, maybe It’s normal, but If I keep my hand on it it’s much hotter than the cilinders. It’s worried me a little. Bye the way…I do the same as you do. I have a big bucket of water with frozen bottles and the cilinderhead is constant 45/50 degrees Celsius

cant you use a lot of ice cubes for your pump as in a iron for for pressing your clothes

Seriously? So if you have 2500 psi in the tank and then you open the bleeders on the compressor, you're going to have 2500 psi air coming out of the bleeders before you start the pump? Of course you would. That makes ZERO sense. You did the gun right but not the sequence on the tank.

Best not use PTFE Tape on any High Press fittings, very dangerous.

Springers may be better for u Britts. Yall airguns are super weak. In usa our airguns are almost like real guns

Oil is lighter then water, so how can 200cc of oil weight 250 grams? Mixing units of measurement and lots more inaccuracies in this "review", no credibility .👎
