I really appreciate your honesty when it comes to your review - It makes a refreshing change from the mainstream press who have a tendancy to only tell you the good and never the bad.

Great job with these videos. For somebody contemplating the Tenere this is exactly the kind of review I have been looking for. I have already come to my first conclusion ... from your comments (and others) I already know I would need to order the more comfy seat.
Thanks for pausing from your travels to give us this great feedback! Lots of good information.
Really nice unbias review, lots of excellent insights and details + nice ride footage - thanks so much!
Nice, good update mate! Looking forward to more in the future.
Nice review and update...I'm watching your reviews with interest and it's great to hear you giving a real world opinion. Cheers, Steve
Great bike and an outstanding honest review. Can't wait to get one when they go on sale in the US. Thank you!
Excellent report.
I find your videos informative, not full of specifications from Yamaha, but filled with your experience. Thank you. Your English is sooooooo much better than my Czech! (I studied Czech back in 1985, visited Praha in 1987). I am looking forward to your next video!
Good honest appraisal, thank you.
I always pay attention to your reviews. One of the reasons is that we are close in weight and heights. I am 188 cm tall and you are 193 cm. I am 120 kg and you are 130 kg. I like that you put the bikes that you review, in a meaningful and useful context. It's so important! Like your comments about the NC750X (in spite of some bad press there is a market for it: commuter, no emotion) or the Moto Guzzi V7 III (you thought more people on bikes, more beginners on that bike). Otherwise, it is obvious that you know your stuff. As far as I am concern, I sometimes think you must have been born on a motorcycle. Cheers! 😎

Great review and great reviewer! Thank you very much! This bike will made history in trail bikes. I thing there is no other like this. Like the BMW GS start the legacy on big trail bikes, the T700 will start another legend in midweigth trail bikes. Simple and efective, no electronics, etc... good suspention, robust bike.... how I like :) I have a R1150GS from 15 years and i'm considering to change to the T700.... wonderful bike. Tank you for your feed-back on the bike. The way you choose to share your experiente is the best "Drive-test" that we can have! Regards from Portugal!

nice vid, thank you!
Hi! My height is exactly 193cm. The first day when I ride 500 km was a little disappointing for me because of the windshield and seat. All the wind was on my helmet and made a huge turbulence. Now waiting for some higher screen to be produced for this bike. Thanks for your review!
I'll seriously consider getting this bike when if comes to Canada.
All the reviews for this bike that I have seen so far concentrate on its off road capabilities I would be interested to see how it copes with long distance, fully laden motorway miles
Nice feedback. Small correction - tank is 16L, so with your consumption it is 350km...
you lucky guy. i am still waiting for this bike to review on my channel. didnt arrive in portugal yet for testride. regard
Nice TY
Could you please share a bit more details about what is bad with the windshield? Is there too much buffeting? Or not enough airflow?
Two bikes I bought new and two of my most all time favorite bikes were Yamaha ...there is just something different about a brand new Yamaha ....I have had brand new Hondas,Kawasaki, and Suzuki and somehow no matter what year they each have their own personality brand new and my new Yamahas really were among my favorite new bike experiences....And finally it looks like Yamaha is building one I actually want to own again!...Honda has won more of my new bike business overall probably....had quite a few Yamahas though ...mostly used ones.

Good summary. Interesting to hear the seat is ordinary. I think that is something that is a relatively easy fix though. Here in Australia a 300 km fuel range will be inadequate. Especially if you want to go touring through the bush. I suspect Camel Adv will probably design an auxiliary tank similar to what is offered for the Africa Twin and F800GS once the bike is released in the USA. It’s a pity they didn’t give it a decent size fuel tank like the 660 has. It looks to have better suspension than the 660 though.
I've been waiting for this bike for a long time but am still wary about being an early adopter. I will follow this guy as he seems to give a good honest opinion. Once a few sensibly priced bits like a tail tidy and engine guards are available I might trade in the Tracer 900 for one.

Pretty safe to,but this bike. Its the most ever tested bike in my lifetime. The engine has a great history already. Just bring it to the 🇺🇸 and take,my money.
Great update - thank you! Once you've reached the first 1000km, perhaps you can comment on the engine and the power it produces - is it enough? For 1 rider + luggage, 2 riders, 2 riders + luggage. Wondering how good of a long distance adventure bike it would make? Thank and will be keeping an eye on your content. Great stuff
A comparison with the Africa Twin would be good as that's the major market competitor.
would have been nice to wait to post your vid and test it off road which is what this bike was made for! Tx
I like how they used KTM colours. If you want really good offroad tyres, the Motoz Tractionator Adventure are incredible. I’ve done 8740 km on the rear fitted to my 1290 SA, so a lighter and less powerful bike will get more. They’re better offroad than the K60, Mitas 07, and TKC 80 that I’ve used as well.
you can be a bit rougher with a new bike if its warmed up properly :) great video !
I am the same height as you, and had the 660 Tenere /for about 26 000 miles-42 000km /with Touring shield plus a 10 cm clip on on top of that and it was still bad, and the same goes for the 1200 Super Tenere /8000 miles and going - 13 000km/ , lowest seat position, Touring Screen, plus the same 10cm clip on, and the wind still hits me in the head;)) Nice review, well done and loads of subs to you!

@@oscartobon5038 A few more bits about the 1200 Super Ten: This is a brilliant commuter - if the lanes are wide enough to lane split and filter -, and tourer. If you are living in a wet country, fit your Super Ten with Michelin Anakee 3 tyres front and back, and you can do 100mph with ease even in a proper downpour. The Anakee rear tyre did 8300 miles at least as it came with the bike, and it is second hand, and I am just about to replace it. I do commute on it all year round in Bristol, UK, area, did ride it in fresh 1"-2" snow twice. Change second gear as soon as you can, and avoid the "droplets" from the fenders of other cars, and you've golden. I had the major service done on it after about 25000 miles, the valves were on spec / just seen a video about it, the guy did the valve clearens check after about 40 000 miles and it was still in spec / so only paid about £70 in parts tax included, and some labour cost. If you have a funky start up, and then some stuttering while riding, loosing out on power in the colder weather / early models, like my first series /, you can likely fix it with using the kill switch. Use the kills switch to stop the bike, leave it in stop position till the next start up, then as it is still in stop position, turn on the bike with the key, and once the starting sequence stopped, then turn the switch back on and then start cranking. What this does is that it stops the injectors flooding the spark plugs which can/will have a hard time dealing with the extra fuel in the cold weather. I am doing this for 7 months now, and never had this issue since. Looks good, sounds good, goes well on every terrain you put it onto to, reliable, cheap to maintain. To repair it? never heard any issues that would require that apart from the obvious being crashed;)) Oh yeah, 1 thing that can be silly;)) counts as a sort of repair... the spark plugs are not really water tight in a sense, that it is worth using a good sealant around the caps preventing any water to get to the spark plugs. It's a hassle to do that as you have to take off both side panels, lift the tank, take the airbox out - you gonna need a looong and flattened flat headed pliers to disconnect the airbox from its connection to something... you have to do this to get the box out. The easiest to take the spark plugs out, do it in this order: 2-1-3-4 And make sure you never run out of fuel!!! Pushing the beast even on flat ground will utterly murder you! Only time you will feel its weight is when you're moving it around and not traveling forward with the engine running.;)) 6th gear speeds: 60mph/3000rpm, 70mph/3500rpm, 80mph/4000rpm - about 50mpg based on the current fuel consumption gauge with me and with my current setup, I only ride in "Touring" mode -, 90mph/4500rpm Have fun riding the Super Ten and waving at your buddies waiting for road side assistance on their BMWs. KTMs Ducatis, Triumphs';)))
nice, looking forward to see real off-road session with your new tenere :) Strange they put dirt bike seat on adventure touring bike...
I have a small concern with the contact pattern on the front brake rotor. Is the front pads protruding past the outer diameter of the rotor. The inner cooling holes on the rotor don't show any contact.
Thanks for this nice review :) What do you think about the accessibility to smaller maintenance stuff like spark, oil etc and most important question: is it possible to fix this bike in the desert of Africa by yourself or is everything built that need workshop?
Hi, I am 195cm tall so are very interested your view on the ergonomics. Have you ridden the bike with full knee braces/guards? Is the sufficient room in the tank indents? This is a problem with the later model Africa Twins for me. Knees have to stick out. Interested in a higher more touring oriented seat as well. You seem to have plenty of leg length for that. Regards Garry
Did you try to ride it with motocross boots. I heard that the carter on the right side of the engine it's a little bit unconfortable with the boots. Is that right?
How do you compare this bike to BMW F650? which you drove extensively?
For bar position why not give your height, then stand on the bike so. We can see?feet on pegs on sidestand or balanced against some thing. Thanks
for off-road tests visit Poland, we have special designed roads for that ;) how is speedo BTW, does it shake a lot on bumpy roads?
Will you try to carry a passenger and test bags?
Hello GF, you don't miss an exhaust edge ending just below the saddle? Looking for higher position possible. This brand setup seems to be useful over on road situations.. but for proper off road situations will be necessary to replace it, adding some extra budget
Cool. Those narrow banana seats are a problem for me too.
Thanks for the review. If I may, how tall are you?
I would love a review of the KTM 1090 adventure R... 😊💪🏼
A cover for the swing arm bolt might be a good idea...
Hello, I have a question. I drove the MT07 and I liked the engine but I have noticed that the drivetrain has much play. When you open and than close the throttle than you notice a strong jolt which drove me crazy in tight corners. Do you have this play in the tenere? Thanks
Hey man ive tried the rally seat but not the standard seat. As far as im aware the rally seat is just taller than the original. Obviously it has more padding but feels like firm foam aimed more for rally racing than comfort. The thing made the bike too tall for myself. Gotta wait till November\December to even try the standard seat😧
Seat and windscreens are rarely great for tall riders. But that seat looks REALLY uncomfortable for any height of any rider that is not spending 90% of the time standing on the pegs. Most Yamahas I've owned had terrible slops in the seat. Looking forward to your review on the Africa Twin, thats the bike I own now and I'm really happy with it (after having changed the seat and windscreen).

Greetings from Colombia. Excellent video, very complete analysis, the best I've seen, I don't speak English, a shame since the Spanish translation is very bad. I apologize, but I would like to ask you the following, of course only if possible 1. I find it curious that you say that you have to use the engine very smoothly because the motorcycle is very new, I have never had medium or high displacement motorcycles but at Yamaha once a technician explained that the observations made when a motorcycle it is new they do so that users do not make use of the guarantees, that therefore the motorcycles leave ready to be used normally. What do you think? 2. You say that the seat felt uncomfortable for long trips, that you are going to use the rally, is it better rally for long trips? 3. I would like to know if the fairing so low does not generate much wind resistance when hitting the shoulders when you go very fast, I am 1.90 cm tall. 4. Do you like the sound of escape because it is silent or do you think the tro design is even quieter? 5. You say that when compared to others, does it have a lot of noise in the chain? 6. Did you drive standing up? 6. ¿Condujiste de pie?
Are the foot pegs too high or it just looks like that from the video? I hate positions with legs at too narrow angle.
What about the hand warmers?
anyone know what jacket that is that he's wearing?
Very nice review! Yamaha claims 16 of fuel, right? Is there only 14 effective L for use?
What are the rpm in 6th gear at 100 km/h and 120 km/h? Any vibration at those speeds?
@ronaldbrandsma492
4 жыл бұрын
about 4200 rpm. Meaning that the test bike was equiped with 16 teeth sprocket. They have also been speaking about 15 teeth sprocket, the it would be some 4500 rpm. I liked the rpm's with the 16 sprocket. The engine has enough grunt to handle it on low speed rough terrain.
what about the tires, tubless or not
good review, a note from an average sized guy on the heavy side: translated to a 90 kgs and 177 cm guy (me :-) the standard seat is great, hight good but might better be a bit less for those steep and very difficult sections for me. Isn't that what you're facing: height is perfect. Wind protection is just as I would like it to be, height of the bars is good enough standing up, but I would fiddle with the angle of the steering bar (more up) and if that will not do enough I will get the bar risers to solve it. Might not be necessary, though. So for an average sized guy like me it's kind a perfect, for a tall +190cm guy it is understandable it needs some adjustments. My judgements are based on the use of my highly modified Transalp XL600V. There is much more to say on comparing these bikes, but just commenting on the size of the bike for an average sized guy
I will never understand why anyone would want louder pipes on an adventure bike.
I love the look of this bike, good job Yami. However you built a day riding machine, not a multi day, long distance dirt adventure bike. The tank is far to small for north america trips, the seat is same as my wr, and no rack for luggage. Stock these 3 things were needed for multi day adventure. So upgrade the seat, rack, fuel??? Outside of that, what a bike, people well love it in the right countries and the right rides, so close.
Is the rally seat expected to be more confortable than the stock one?
If u don't want to modify the seat, use Ride-on-Air...
How is the 6th gear for highway riding?
Hi sir or any people reading this, im torn between this bike and the africa twin adventure sport, but i wanted to know which you would prefer? also are these bikes euro 5 compliant? and even if they are, euro 6 is coming very soon which would mean these bikes would not comply eventually, so would it be best to wait another year to see what yamaha does with this model and if they sort any issues with it out, like maybe getting a bigger tank? (can you get larger tank?) i have the old 660 tenere and its 23 litre tank is brilliant, this is a let down that it is only 16l.
Same question that I comment with many clips of Tenere700 : Is this bike strongly affected by the side winds at speed ( 100 - 160... km/h ) in open areas ? How is the headlight at night - good, og useless ?
Are you able to review the 2019 Honda CRF450L the more off-road oriented dual-sport ? I think its a great bike right from the shop!

How is it going to be touring with passenger and luggage on T7? What do you think?
thanks for the review. We do not have a bike available for test ride here. I am just 178 cm and not sure how it fits. I am not afraid of a tall bike but need to know how far off this is when you say you are 193 cm..
Does anyone know what the price is in USD? What are other countries paying now?
Seats and windshields are very individual items. What suits you at 190 cm won't suit me at 182 cm. Suspension? Will it cope with big hits and corrugations? What rear wheel size at the rear? IS it an 18 inch rim?
So is it good for 193 cm heigh and 117 kilos rider?
I'm also a tall guy and have a problem with that part of the engine which sticks out on the right side. My right leg bumps on it just below the knee. I think it would drive me nuts not being able to hug the tank with my knees in the long run. How was it for you?
How does this compare to the Africa Twin please ?
