recently saw an hour long video by BMW of their 4 day ride in Australia. At no point in the video did I feel that the riders required the big 1200 GSs. 99% riders will never utilize the full potential of these bikes, so I think Yamaha has a winner on their hands.

I have at last had an oportunity to ride it while my bike was serviced. I found myself talking to it in delight! So much fun, just a few minutes on the dirt and I am no expert so I had to take it easy. Fun is the overall word for this. As usual Yamaha have got it spot on.

I love the simplicity so far, this is I want. The KLR is gone, I loved how basic the bike was but needed more power or one more gear. I think the Tenere 700 could be the new KLR. We'll see.

I haven't seen or read a single bad review about the new Tenere. Yamaha have good history and Dakar pedigree to call on..it's a sensible price, all these 10, 12, 15, ...nearly 20 grand prices are crazy. The MT engine is terrific and one of the most reliable out there, what's not to like!!. Apart from the fact no one has a demo bike yet....Cheers, Steve

I have heard a few negatives, seat is uncomfortable after medium length rides and the suspension while good for road and mild rough stuff bottoms out easily. And 2 up is not a recommended concept. Oh and it is top heavy. I think the selling point on this bike is the motor being so smooth and tractable. In Canada the price is good but add suspension and your pretty much in the ktm 790R range so I'm not sure. Hopefully we will get some test bikes aswell. I love the concept of the T7, simple.

Really like this bike because its not too much heavier than my dr650. See its about 430? My dr650 is about 370. So its not too much. For the mild trails and roads i go offroad its fine. Usually easier paths around. U 250 guys go ahead and break ur bones. Ill find the easier path. Twice the power on the highway diesent hurt either. Yup ill probably trade the dr in on one. Cant wait.

does anyone know if they will be bringing out this bike but with a bigger fuel tank? adventure bikes eventually come out with bigger tank options like the africa twin...speaking of which im debating getting either this bike or the africa twin dct adven sport, have test ridden the africa, very nice bike, takes a lot of the workload off you, not sure if that a good thing or not...i like that T7 has gone for simplicity as if its not there it can't go wrong. Yam dealer did say though that the build quality on the t7 is nowhere near the africa twin hence the price too, but honda are very reliable too...what do you guys think is best to go for, for all round use? and should i wait till next year till both yam and honda bring out new models to iron out any issues etc? thanks again. sean ps i have 2 xt660z's absolute bulletproof machines

I heard in another video that the *Yamaha Tenere* - T700 falls / crashes noticeably more than other off road bikes in the same conditions. Something to check out if you are "seriously" planning on buying one. BUT... The 2020 Yamaha T700 (Tenere) is a good basic bike. *_I strongly suggest_* you avoid the temptations by the industry & dealers making their videos on the T700. Never, ever buy a brand new design i.e. 1.0. WAIT about two to three years for the: - fixes to the design bugs & issues - improvements/modernizations like on the Honda Africa Twin & now Adventure Sport version - aftermarket parts & accessories to be available - for other folks not wise enough to wait, to buy it and spend their money not yours Something to think about that I am sure the video maker agrees with.

CP2 is a twin, thus a much smoother and more linear power dilevery, with usable torque all the way to higher revs. The 660 was a single, and whilst it provided massive torque down low, it quickly tapered off on higher revs. Being a single, it was also thumpy

The engine was brilliant and yet no fun - it had no brio, no moments of excitement. I really wanted to like it but couldn’t. On the same day I rode the Africa Twin, and to my great surprise I loved it. This would be a great bike to go around the world and never have one moment of fun. Michael is 5'9" (and a half he claims). The seat height is 880mm so it's pretty tall but it's narrow. Hope that helps Dean.

It's a pretty tall bike. I'm six foot and the balls of my feet just touch ground while sitting

I’m 5’10 and can just touch the ground with my toes, not great when pulling up to traffic lights or stationary. I don’t think the presenter had actually ridden it before his preview, just saying.

So we can buy an old adventure bike for a fraction of the cost of this one and still get a better looking motorcycle. Why did Yamaha even bother to launch this?

Why are you buying an ADV bike for its looks? Go buy a Street Glide.

@@JayBee-se8ou The looks is the icing in the cake but still important. I like the Street Glide but I keep dreaming about the Diavel 1260 S. The 2020 Honda Africa Twin is sweet too. Many welcome changes implemented. All the best to you.

Give it a color TFT screen and an IMU for lean-sensitive traction control and cornering ABS and I'm in.

There is no bike I have ever owned that doesn't have things about it that I hate. The question for me is, does a bike exist, that I wouldn't complain about? Converseley has a bike been made that is perfect? Anyone who says so should produce the evidence or check to see whether they are delusional. I have therefore lowered my expectations of what motorcycles can be, and am therefore trying to be more realiistic. If there is a perfect bike out there, I stand to be corrected, so feel free.

The T7 isn't too bad. But why are so many A-bikes built for such a narrow section of humanity? Average height focus would make much more sense. Yes - ground clearance O/R. but you still have to stop at some point. It might make for some awkward designing - but the obvious start point could be to look at drawing the sump upwards to regain ground clearance, whilst retaining a design for folks that aren't 965mm inside leg (ie most people!). A hardcore DL650 could be an obvious start point...
