That's because these scenes were probably rotoscoped, aka animated over a live action video. It happened a lot in this show and, suprisingly enough, it was always in a scene that had Shadowcat and Rogue. There's a scene of Rogue and Shadowcat dancing that is a reference to a scene from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where Buffy and a friend are dancing in the club. They basically animated Rogue and Shadowcat over Buffy and her friend, which is why the scene looks so fluid, specially the hair. There's also another scene where Rogue, Shadowcat and the other girls are walking around the school, and the whole scene is rotoscoped from a scene from The Craft, where some girls are walking around the school. Both scenes, much like their scenes in the opening, are super fluid because of that. EDIT: Found another one. A scene of Jean and a girl dancing together that is rotoscoped from a scene of girls dancing from Coyote Ugly.

One thing I finally noticed. When each character is introduced in this song their name is displayed by their powers. That’s an awesome touch by the animators and so easy to miss this series was made with love.

The original 1992 version was amazing, but this one was probably even better. The idea of making most of the characters teens with Wolverine and Storm as the mentors was insanely good. The villains even felt as genuine threats, even more so than their 1992 counterparts. Rogue was expertly handled and developed. X-23 had a memorable introduction. Character romantic relationships was another aspect that was brilliantly handled in this series. Only thing missing was the series ending with Wolverine marrying Storm - I've always been a fan of this couple ever since those "Alternate Timelines" episodes in 1992.

I also enjoyed seeing Logan as a mentor, a more mature and collected version of himself. If this show was adapted into a live-action film, this version of Wolverine would fit Hugh Jackman even more.

The 90s cartoon is more comic accurate, with many stories being direct adaptations from the pages of those books. I love X-Men Evolution too, but it's extremely rare for a reboot to surpass the original. It's also kind of weird seeing founding members of the 1960s X-Men like Scott Summers and Jean Grey as teenagers alongside Kitty Pryde, who wasn't introduced until the 1980s, long after the original team members had graduated and gone off to work for the government. Ditto for having all the Evil Mutants attend the same high school as the X-Men (with Mystique as their principal). It made the world seem very small.

opening still great the beat pick up on wolverine onwards is just so right kitty, loving the animation to hair and movement in this opening it made this show so nice nostalgic

People, the essence of the 90's it's strong in this series, I know it begined in 2000, but the early 2000's were the 90's, and actually the X-Men series that everyone's considered from "the 90's" the one from 1992, is really from the 80's. The 90's actually didn't begin until like 1993-94. Even if you see the one from 1992 the animation and style it's pretty 80's. So this are the real X-Men from the 90's. The others are from the 80's.

Gonzalo Gauna culturally speaking yes, 1993 was kinda the start. But X MEN evolution didn’t feel like a 90s holdover to me it felt just like a regular Y2K era tv series. But you’re correct on the original it was a mix of 80s and 90s since it started in 1992, if it started in 93 it would’ve been like Spider-Man TAS.

This was always one of my Favorite Xmen shows growing up, since the Xmen show in the 90's were really vague to me growing up I didn't remember it much. Also the animation's and art style were really good for its time and still is til this day. And all the girls in this show 😍😍😍

I Love Watching X-Men Evolution In The 2000s.

To be honest, I actually liked this version of Rogue more than the 90s X-Men Rogue.

X-MEN 90s and X-MEN Evolution are my 2 most favorite childhood X-MEN shows not only cuz both shows were awesome but also cuz both shows followed a good storyline of the X-MEN Comics.

One thing that bugged me is the padded room treatment Logan got. When you look at stuff like Storm's lightning or Scott's Optic Blast or Jean doing something like throwing a heavy bag of sand at something or more so some one its treated like a punch. Sure it hurt but that's all it did. Wolverine can only do ONE thing with his primary fighting ability and what he does...is not very nice. That's why he got the TMNT treatment. If you don't know watch every single one. If a turtle has something sharp and/or pointy it cannot be used to harm living things. That's why when they fight Krang all of the aliens are in side of robot suits they're allowed to slice and dice.

Fun fact: this is where X 23 was created. They then brought her into the comics.

I've been watching X-Men Evolution recently and I have to say, I'm REALLY liking it. This might actually be up there with Spider-Man TAS, TMNT 2003 and Avengers EMH as one of my favourite superhero/comic book animated series (X-Men TAS, Teen Titans 2003, The Batman and Wolverine and the X-Men being my honourable mentions).

Not as Iconic as the one from the 90s, but still a damn good opening.
