Maybe you should try the Arcade game of "X-men Children of the Atom". Play with wolverine until you fight omega red many times, then and only then you will realize why the animators use that small battle of wolverine vs omega red jumping between walls from 2 buildings until they reach the sky and the backgroundy moon... Then and only then you will understand that scene, try the medium and maybe the hard mode so you can understand that beautiful scene.

This shows how anime isn't simply about characters with pointy noses and chins, colorful hair and big eyes. Anime is all about specific animation techniques that make the action scenes more fluid and dynamic. You can tell that this is a Japanese animation, even though the character designs are fully in the style of Jack Kirby and Jim Lee.

Anime has very varied style, sometimes you can even find shows running simultanously in the same season that have basicly opposite artystyles. Compare shows like Monster or Sonny Boy with Kemono friends.

This is why I sometimes consider there’s actual difference between anime and cartoons/western animation despite people saying it is the same despite the name difference. Sure it is or was super expensive to do this, but intros like these reflected the type of care that was put into things in movements, camera angles, and subtle language about impact from a character to the other

Japan understands how awesome the X-Men are.

@@penemuelwatcher2378 I just checked. The Japan intro came out in 1994 to 1995. Evangelion also came out in 1995 but it did not become influential the instant it came out. More likely that scene is a old anime trope and both this intro and Eva are homages to older works with that kind of framing.

X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men is the pilot and it was done by Toei (Japan) and yes the animation is awesome.

@Kūra Nah, if it was made in Japan by a single studio, the OP and the actual anime would consistently have been the same. The X-men cartoon though, was animated by studio AKOM(notorious for sub-par animation and numerous errors) while these OPs were produced by a different, Japanese-based one though it's not known which one. So the cartoon and it's Japanese OPs were produced by 2 different studios.

I never though that Jubilee was cool until i saw her throwing energy balls with DragonBall Z sound effects-

Sorry to dissapoint you Night Ride, but those sound effects are very common place in a lot of other anime. It's a bog standard sound effect that a lot of shows use by different companies.

With the announcement of X-Men 97, I have to say this. They really should incorporate these opening songs into it somewhere, like possibly as insert songs. Maybe even official English covers.

Rogue is a nigh-ultimate 'look but don't touch' character, making her the perfect anime waifu.

This intro did in a few seconds what the actual show couldn't do ever: Made Jubilee and a pre-Phoenix Jean Grey actually look formidable in combat.

I just realized the artstyle also has a purpose - it's designed to look like Jim Lee's art.

I will always love the 90's X-Men cartoon ... But the animation is SICK in these openings. I want an entire series with this animation ...

Wow, are you kidding me?!? If the show actually looked like this, this would’ve been one of the most badass anime of all time. There’s actual directing...and Jubilee isn’t useless lol

I dunno, the show itself was awesome and with many an epic moment full of (intentional) ham and cheese. Jubilee also had her moments, albeit they can be counted with one hand.

That wink (was this a Toei deal?) seems in keeping with the Stateside concept of Rogue in the early 1990s : "maybe flirty and definitely a force to be reckoned with".

Over the top anime goodness. Captured the Jim Lee era style very well.

When FOX Kids meant EVERYTHING to me. Nothing could convince me that Japan had this playing in their country until someone showed me a VHS Tape of it. My mind would of been blown away forever during my youthful days.

I see that many are excited about X-Men 97 and I am too, however... the animation they gave it, added to the rumors... make me skeptical about the continuation of the series... For me I would have been fascinated if they had given the project to an anime house that could recreate what was seen in the Openings...

Opening 1: Hokuto no ken. Opening 2: Saint Seiya

I really like how every time Jubilee is in trouble, Wolverine comes to her rescue It perfectly showcases just how much he cares about her, plus how he’s a big softie underneath all that gruffness Also, the shots during 2:42-2:53 were badass

Japanese appreciate Cyclops more than Wolverine let that sink in!!! They put Cyclops more like a protagonist and Wolvie a deuteragonist in the 2nd OP

@@misterboxhead3045 Yes, that's obvious. And it is also known that the budget for the opening is always larger than for the episode itself. I just wanted to reinforce how cool it would be to have an entire animation in this opening quality. :D

can you imagine the reaction from the Japanese after being so hyped up from the intro only to be severely disappointed with the actual quality of the episodes. Hell, the intro made Beast actually badass!!

I doubt they were disappointed considering most 90s Anime was the same, with high quality openings.. compared to the actual anime episodes..Hell, just look at DBZs Japanese opening during the 90s..they knew what to expect.

Does anyone notice at 3:01 that Professor X pulls out the TRI-BEAM? TIEN WOULD BE PROUD TO SEE HIS LEGACY LIVING ON!😭

Holy hot damn....this is damn good. I'm currently watching X-Men (90's) to get ready for X-Men 97, damn if only we could have these kind of openings, I would say this is just amazing stuff! I give props to the Animators for doing these

This reminds me a lot of the Capcom fighting games featuring the X-men. X-men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-men VS Street Fighter., ect. They have the hyper jumps, and finishers. This is so epic!

I always felt marvel nailed animated xmen better than anyone else. It was like watching the 90s comics in action

I love how they are directly using the Jim Lee style directly instead of the animated show.

i want this as a whole show. the art, the music, the tone, all of it as a full series.

The characters look better then 97' version.
