He's almost not wrong except as far as Fallout lore (though now possibly outdated) goes it was just Europe and a failing USSR that fought over the Middle East and Eastern Europe which left both it and most of Europe a ruined wasteland long before the US-China war fully ruined the planet. In Fallout peak oil happened early and the US went full isolatist mode, with the rest of the world basically collapsing until it was literally just the US (including the newly acquired territory of Mexico and the even newer and far more rebellious territory of Canada) and China left to squabble over the last reserves of oil. IIRC in the Fallout timeline its India and Pakistan that get into a nuclear war first which then later spreads to Europe.

I'd just like to point out, it's amazing how well it is known what "glassing" is in this context. Halo Pop Culture reference that has stuck around because of how *fucking terrifying* the concept is.
