Frank Gore played in the NFL for 16 seasons after 2 ACL tears while in college. As long as the orthopedic exams check out (complete w/knee & shoulder MRIs) and with two consecutive productive & healthy seasons in the books, Penix's health shouldn't be a concern at all

UW/Seahawks fan here. No way I want this guy to leave the city. No one is talking, but go back to the big games during the 4th quarter, the WHOLE TEAM (EVERYONE!) was in a huddle with him getting motivated by him. This guy is the #1 leader in the clubhouse and on the field. After watching him for two years, there are alot of teams sleeping on him on purpose, they dont want to give up their hand.

They have good left and right tackles, they need a more mature QB to run their offense who can stand in the pocket, and want a QB who can attack down field. They could also possibly grab him at 11 and not have to spend 3 firsts trading up. Though with the raiders and broncos trying to trade up, they may have to a little. My guess though is if the giants don’t take a QB no one trades up, but if the giants do, teams will be in a frenzy for nix and penix

Penix has by FAR the best arm in the draft (accuracy, velocity, and strength) and it's not even close. He needs some work on footwork and vision, but he's the best pure arm easily in the draft. Lot of times a QB just has strength, but Penix has all 3 categories. He's also very fast and can scramble very well, UW just never had him do it (partly because he had the best WR group in the nation).

JJ and maye really need to sit a year where Penix might be ready to go half way through the year and if darnold sucks out the gate, the Vikings could put him in.

The Patriots HC has basically said in the press conference that they are ready to trade the pick. The Giants will go either with O-line, or WR. I don’t think the Giants can go QB whilst still paying Jones big time money. Maye fits better with the Vikings scheme than Penix. If he never twice tore his right ACL, yes. Although he still has an outstanding arm, his delivery changed somewhat. Watch his tape from pre-injury Indiana vs. today. He puts a lot of torque on that shoulder now and favors that knee. When there is any clutter around him, he protects that plant leg and throws off his back foot a lot. He cuts his dropbacks short. He overcomes it at the collegiate level because his arm is so strong, but the NFL is a different league. Time will wear on his shoulder due to this. Cutting drops short and at times throwing late will lead to interceptions. He cant just throw deep all the tome to wide open receivers in the NFL.

Pac 12 quarterbacks are all over rated because the Pac 12 had the worse passing defenses in the country. The highest rated was Oregon in the 50’s. When Penix came up against a good pass defense in Michigan he collapsed. He never showed the same potential against Big 10 defenses at Indiana.

Pats will trade with the Vikings. They’ll take a tackle with the 11th pick and Penix with the 23rd pick. I would have said the raiders but they really want Daniels and if they can’t get him they’ll probably go all in on defense.

Not a fan of the team necessarily but id like to see Penix end up in Minnesota cause i think that would give him the best chance to succed of the teams that will be drafting a QB this year. But it seems most belive the Vikings are gonna trade up for JJ McCarthy.

What about Denver? They have Drew Breese's old HC and a top10 O-line. And they came on strong at the end of last season. Oh, and they DESPERATELY need a QB. Seems like a solid landing spot.

I doubt he'd be top5, he's still older for a QB which could speak to potential and ceiling, he's also a left handed QB which means schematically you are flipping the offense for your WR plays and some guys aren't as adept or used to starting routes on the other side of the field. I think without the injuries he'd for sure be a top 15 pick.

Statistically if this ended up being as good as the best draft class of QBs ever, 1 would be a star, 2 would be long term starters, and 3 would be busts, or low upside back ups

@@godawgs123yea i'm a Michigan fan, but people ranking McCarthy ahead of Penix are crazy. And that's not a knock on JJ, but Penix is the most ready of any of these guys to step in and start, whereas I think JJ still needs at least a year or 2 to get there. I understand Caleb at 1 since his upside is through the roof, and I think there's a debate between Daniels and Penix, but people ranking Maye, McCarthy, or Nix (!!) ahead of him just doesn't make sense to me. But every year people overthink the QB position in the draft so I guess I shouldn't be surprised
