As a Vikings fan, I've said before & I'll say it again under no circumstances should Minnesota trade Justin Jefferson because whether it's Sam Darnold or one of the solid & talented QBs in this draft class as the starting quarterback that move would massively undercut not only them but also this offense as a whole.

@@tigersteeth29I am a panthers game and watched every snap. Bryce young would be a bust anywhere. It was clear that cj was going to be a better nfl qb. But it’s not even that. His style of play was never going to be conducive to a good nfl career. He made his living at bama (behind the best offensive line) scrambling around. You can’t do that in the nfl anymore. The defenses are too fast. The main reason cj is having success is that he takes the snap, makes a read or two, and snaps it out of his hand. Young just never did this and it’s probably too late to coach out of him now.

Josh McCown was an assistant coach at Myer's Park High School in Charlotte during the 2019-2020 season. Drake Maye graduated from Myer's Park HS in 2021, so he would've been a junior that year. Drake and Josh are definitely tight

Depends. Even a massive number 1 wr isn't that much better to the average. It's not like the gap to tje field of wrs is as big as the gap to say average DTs to the best DTs. How much you allocate to build a championship team matters. 35 million for jj is nearly double what the bucs pay for Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

i mean….its not the absolute worst thing to happen. vikings fans claimed that if they lost their terrific 3: diggs, thielen, cook, that they would be screwed…and here we are. another factor is no team ever in the history of football has paid a non-QB the amount of money what the Vikings might pay JJ. JJ’s value as a receiver is DOMINANCE at a lower pay. DOMINANCE at a historically insane contract doesn’t equal better value for the team. but on the flip side, yes JJ is the best WR in football there is that luxury. JJ is the PERFECT weapon to place for a young rookie QB (which will be the Vikings plan hopefully in this draft). i’m not advocating for JJ to be traded, i’m just saying that if they WERE to trade him, it wouldn’t be the worst thing ever

I agree they probably want to move up. Most likely looking at #3 with the pats. But if they have to pick at #11 I think Bo Nix is a super accurate and under control passers that O'Connell could really make work. Not as much upside but he had an 85% adjusted completion percentage when accounting for dropped passes. Which means he knows how to throw on time and place the ball where needed.

The Bears, Commanders and Patriots have turned down trade requests from other teams. They are looking for a quarterback. The Bears traded Justin Fields and the Patriots are trading Mac Jones to Jacksonville. Adding Justin Jefferson in a trade would likely get a top 3 pick. Not worth it considering how many busts of 1st round quarterbacks in recent years. Zach Wilson and Trey Lance are recent 2nd overall and 3rd overall picks who didn’t do too well. The Chargers 5th round pick is very possible because they already have Justin Herbert.

Not in this years draft. Take the best defender available at 11...then take Pennix at 23. Or trade one of them back a few spots and recoup next years second round pick, but still have two 1st rounders this year.

Realistically it's depending on who the Commanders/Pats DONT like. Both teams have made it clear they're taking a QB, neither are going to budge from their spots. So does KOC like the QB4 enough to move into the top 5 for them?

Only 2 QBs still starting from the 2021-22 drafts and they are Trevor and Brock. Scouts are pretty weak if you ask me.

Shows like Get Up on ESPN are unwatchable. "We're going to tell you who should do what, you don't want to miss this". Translation, "we're going to speculate and then argue about every possible scenario and you should shut up and listen or we won't get paid." It's almost as bad as actually watching a Mel Kiper draft, how did he get that gig? He's as clueless as the rest of us, some teams draft smart, others take a chance and it's hit or miss. But he's almost always wrong yet gets hours of screen time.

I agree the Vikings probably want to move up. Most likely looking at #3 with the pats to take either Maye or Daniels. Whichever guy falls to 3. you have to grade a prospect off both potential and achievement. Ignoring one for the other leads to picks like sam darnold. As you said achievement is much easier to rate then potential, but so many gms focus only on potential, you have proved my point as only 2 of 19 picks are starting next year.

there isn't any science to it, it's more coaching and development. but potential matters more because of that. nobody cares if you're mac jones and put up amazing stats with a stacked bama team or drake maye with a bad offense around him this past year. the potential is the biggest driving factor and it's unlocked through development, coaching and scheme. if you drafted with focus on achievement you'd get someone like penix who likely isn't built for the nfl

This is the fallback scenario, for sure, but it might be Penix at 11 and JPJ at 23 if the QB's are really flying off the shelves and we can't trade up. We'll see. Raiders and Broncos are sitting right behind at 12 and 13 and might just scoop up whoever the vikes don't take at QB.

As a Vikes fan im not sold on the QBs of this draft class Most of the important stuff you need to know about a QB you learn in the film room, and I trust O Connoll as an offensive mind so if he loves a QB go get him Personally yes i know the situation is rough at QB, but wasting the picks to draft a guy that wont be the guy in 3 years doesnt help the team. Better make sure hes a franchise guy if this is the plan

There will be a good rookie qb at 12, dont give up draft capital that'd help the whole team...Darnold can be a good mentor and maybe do some good things imho!

Lombardi and Florio just continue to be wrong and they keep having them on 😂

The Vikings are the only Super Bowl era team that has NEVER drafted a quarterback in the top 10, not once in 63 years. They haven't had a great QB since 1978, but they are still 8th in win %, 6th in playoff appearances, and have the most division titles in the NFC North. That's a testament to building stellar rosters but being cowards at going for it all to land a long-term great at QB. I am not expecting them to change their tendencies this year, or any year. The MN fans are terrified of having an actual "bad" year if a top-10 QB pick goes wrong. Tom Brady people can go on and on about that low-round miracle, but he was backing up a 1st overall pick.

IDGAF what anyone says JJ can play, everyone was dogging him before and after he won the natty saying he wasn't ready for the NFL and he couldn't play fresh off the draft. I never thought that and idk where the hype has come from lately cuz nobody was talking about him awhile ago like they are now. But the kid can play and I think he's one of the more NFL ready QBs in this draft, he showed up in huge moments when MI needed it, do I think he can throw 40 times a game? No but can he play and be an effective QB in the league? Absolutely.

Is it crazy to think as much as harbaugh has talked up jj McCarthy they take him and trade Justin Herbert to Minnesota? Harbuagh gets three first round picks in his first season and they clear a ton more cap space (albeit with a big dead cap hit as well)? Minnesota get their guy and have the best pair of Justin’s in the league

It would be interesting if the Vikings trade with the Giants. They could possibly get Jefferson, plus some more draft picks. Giants get Nix, in the latter round.

As a Patriots fan, I've watched BB trade top picks for value picks, and every year it drove me nuts because most of them didn't work out in the long run. After decades of that, I can't believe I'm saying this but they should trade the #3 to the Vikings for picks this year and next. The team has to do a lot of rebuilding to even sniff the playoffs. They don't have the receivers, TEs, safeties, CBs or o-line to make a #3 QB successful right now. Take as current picks, future picks, and players they're willing to trade.

The only thing is, people have to be willing to accept their offer. No one in the top 5 is.

I'm not even sure trading up in the draft to get Marvin Harrison is worth losing JJ.

This would be a dumb move on their part. They have the 11 and the 23rd pick. Jets just snagged Mike Williams off the FA board. They were likely gonna take one of the big 3 WR’s. Since that’s not happening at 11 sign whoever is left between odunze or Nabers. One will still be there. Then with the 23rd pick grab best QB available. There’s 5 projected to go in the first round one will still be there. Will prob be Nix if I had to guess. Then sign JJ’s 5th year option and trade him away for a first round pick to whoever needs him. Yes it will be a horrible loss but you already have Addison and now Nabers/Odunze you don’t need to sign JJ to a contract that will reset the WR market. Get your first round pick for him next year and keep working on fixing the entire team.

Finally gonna make a deal to put the Hershel walker trade in the books, it’s haunted them for that long, and made the cowboys what they were!….🌎✌️
