Why the DJI FPV Goggles or Radio Will Not Connect to your Computer

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

If your DJI FPV goggles or radio are not showing up in the DJI FPV app on your computer or not working with a drone flight simulator, it is likely because of the USB cable you are using to connect them to your computer. This seems especially prevalent for Apple Mac users who have computers with only USB-C ports.

    I would like to thank you for your video! Why DJI doesn’t say this in their documentation is beyond me! They don’t even include a USB-C to USB-A cable in the box with the Avata 2 Fly and More (3 batteries) combo. I was able to connect, upgrade and activate the drone and the control stick via the DJI Assistant Consumer application on my MacBook Air M1 with a USB-C to USB-C cable. The goggles connected to the Mac one time. It was long enough to activate them - but they wouldn’t connect after that. I even switched to a computer running Windows and it too wouldn’t connect with USB-C to USB-C. I found your video, then grabbed a USB-C to USB-A cable. I connected the goggles to my Windows laptop (ThinkPad 11e) and bam! They connected and I was able to upgrade the firmware! The other thing that completely blows me away is how DJI relies on an open source USB driver for macOS users that hasn’t been maintained since 2016 and it won’t work on the newest operating system or Apple Silicon Macs. How do Mac users activate their drones? Find a friend with a Windows machine? How is it a company as technologically advanced as DJI can’t write their own driver? That should be a drop in the bucket for them.

    Wow I tried everything for hours until I came across this video. Using the USB OTG cable that came with my goggles did the trick and I was able to detect FPV Controller 2 to DJI Assistant 2 and update firmware on the controller with my Mac. This should really be in the quick start guide!

    Thanks! Similarly struggled to get the dang things to talk to one another. Turned out I actually had to have the USB-C to USB-A female adaptor plugged in to the mac, then the USB-A male to USB-C pluggied into the goggles for it to work. Same cable setup flipped around (which was the recommended way on the general binding video iflight provided me) didn't work 🤪

    Hi, I have the same problems as shown but not related to the cable. I bought my V2 second hand an there was no (hup) there and i can´t connect. Luckily my friend has the same V 2 and borrowed me his Adapter for firmware upload.

    The adapter I am using happens to be an Apple USB-C to USB-A. It is not an OTG cable. I assume any USB-C to USB-A adapter cable or similar device would work just as well.

    I'm using a USB-C to USB-A cable and the controller shows up in Windows and I can see that I have the current version, but the controller doesn't actually respond to anything in the Windows calibration system, or in any games unfortunately. Not sure why it shows up but doesn't actually work.

    Hope it’s not too far off the topic here: While installing the dji assistant 2 on macOS Monterey it didn’t let me install the HoRNDIS due to compatibility issues. Do you have any idea how to solve this?

  • @5zero7RC

    @5zero7RC

    2 жыл бұрын

    I don't suppose it works anyway without the HoRNDIS? I am running BigSur (mainly because I still have concerns about compatibility with everything I want to run). Actually I thought BigSur was supposed to have issues with this as well. Maybe it worked for me because I already had it installed when I upgraded to BigSur. Maybe this DJI Thread will help? forum.dji.com/thread-232304-1-1.html

    Quick question dose it work if you put the adapter on the goggles ?

  • @5zero7RC

    @5zero7RC

    2 жыл бұрын

    If I connected the adapter to the goggles directly, I would not have any way to connect it back to my computer. My laptop only has USB-C ports, so I need to convert from usb-c to usb-a, then from usb-a back to usb-c so I can get a connection on the laptop.

    I was trying to connect the devices to a laptop, so an OTG cable is not needed. I think an OTG cable only helps if you are trying to connect the DJI device to a mobile phone.

    Hi. I am unable to get the dji fpv controller 2 to show up at all on my system. I know it's not the cable because I used the same one with the DJI Avata and it showed up and updated fine. For Avata I used a different client but I am trying to update the controller in the DJI Assistant 2 DJI FPV series client

  • @5zero7RC

    @5zero7RC

    Sounds like you are using the right DJI client. I assume you are not using a cable that is USB-C on both ends right? My only other suggestion is to try connecting before turning on the radio, or try turning on the radio first, then connecting it to the computer.

    @@5zero7RC thanks for the reply. I was able to finally get it to read by connecting with it off and then turning the controller on. Seems so simple and I swore I did that multiple times, but just glad it worked. Your tip that only USB c to USB a would work was huge for me! Thank you
