As a short guy myself (5'5), I struggled a lot with dating growing up and was insecure about my height as a result of that. For this reason, I actually started a KZread Channel to empower other short guys who have once been in my shoes. Would be great to get your feedback and collab together one day! Hm. Funny. I just saw a post on FB of all the princess with the wives. And yes, they were all tall. The Women leaned into the Men’s chests. So yea. I agree.

It's been 30 years now and I can't believe I have never found a woman out of many thousands I have had contact with online and in-person and found it's so hard to find a woman that doesn't care that I'm 5'5. My height doesn't bother me at all so why does it bother women so much. I mean I worked hard to be able to retire at 39 years old, well dressed I work out, plenty of hobbies, and hoping to find a woman that can come with me to revisit all the countries I've visited. However... the only thing women know about me is that they see I'm short and I guess that's all they need to know. Only women that ever gave me a chance were the ones with 3-5 kids and it seemed they just settled for me because I gave money to them for their kids when they asked while their biological fathers abandoned them. Every single mother I talked to told me they used to reject short guys but have matured because they have kids from taller men that left them.

@Hbgn I think things may be a little better for you at a younger age is that heightism is being more exposed because of social media versus my younger days in the 1980s where being tall men were advertised practically as gods across billboards all along the highways in the United States and television commercials and glamorized amongst female singers and actresses. There was absolutely no support for short men back in those days. It's still tough but as long as there are women like this one on this video that has our back there's still a fighting chance for shorter guys your age.

Hey, must have missed this comment originally. Whilst my situation is not the same. I too have been rejected for a number of reasons such as being too short, too fat, I don't drink etc. I think you just have to keep the faith that the right person will come to you eventually when the timing is right. :-)

I think people need to come up with better cliches these days than "the right person will come along" or' there's someone out there for everybody" because honestly, I think I'd rather have had at least fun with as many wrong people as I could or that would have given me the chance versus being completely alone with not even chances of one night stands because of being rejected for being too short. I think when you hit a certain age (me it's 45) you really don't want to hear things like give it time she will come along when your seeing all your high school friends already being grandparents lol

I have to imagine that you may be pursuing the type of woman that actually is shallow enough to care about that. Maybe you are actually unknowingly choosing those types of narcissistic self involved illogical females. After all, prince was only 5‘4“, and he dressed like a woman with nearly 0 muscle mass ha ha somehow he could get any lady he wanted.

Women can judge men based on their height, weight, penis size etc and society will call them preferences but a man judges women on appearance then he is a sexist or misogynist. That sounds like a double standard

I'm 5'7. Whenever a girl is shorter than me and says that they'll still talk to me because "As long as I'm their height or taller it's ok", I just cut things off. No thank you. The height thing is personal to me, and it makes me cringe that if I was a little shorter you wouldn't talk to me. If tall guys did this too, the problem would be solved imo. But even still , theres that quote , "Be the change you want to see."

What about really ugly people? should we consider them to? should good looking people only date people that wouldn't date them if they where ugly? how about other preferences? Don't get me wrong I don't think it is a totally illegitimate point you're making. I am 6"4 and if I see women putting height requirements in a dating bio or being openly super shallow about things like that(like the girl in your example) then it is a red flag for me but at the same time men and women have things they generally find attractive and there is nothing inherently wrong with that.

@@guyjackson1261 there's nothing inherently wrong with desiring an attractive person. But being short doesn't make a man unattractive. His facial features do. If he's short AND ugly, fair game to reject him. But if he's short and looks like Channing Tatum or Tom Cruise or Ryan Gosling and is still being rejected (even when he's still taller than the woman, even when she's wearing heels) there is a serious sickness with that woman and our society and it can not just be chalked up to "preferences".

I don't disagree with you that there is a general problem with society not checking women for being shallow, essentially raising them from an early age to encourage it or at the very least not teach them to value men as human beings. It doesn't change the fact that height is a general preference along with looks, physical shape etc

But we are past the point of no return where too many men have been rejected so many times they have absolutely zero rational reason to continue trying. YOU LADiE$ have to fix it by encouraging men, very, very, VERY blatantly that they have a chance... even if they are shorter or don't make as much money or what have you. EQUALITY IS OUT THE WINDOW WITH WHEN IT COMES TO HEIGHT.

As a 5'6 guy, i have stopped caring what women think of me, and i just given up on women entirely. I don't go to bars, or nightclubs, i don't even go out anymore. What's the point for me to go out and meet women when they don't find me attractive based om my height? I might as well just stay att home, watching movies, drawing, play video games, and masturbate to porn. And i have a 9 to 5 job, so i don't have the time or energy to go to the gym and work out. On weekends, i just wanna relax and chill.

Being short is worse than being ugly IMO. And I say it as a short guy... I don't really care anymore, you can still find people who will like you. But it's a much smaller dating pool than if you were tall. So you have to focus on other stuff, because the dating world is for tall men.

Now.....that I make over 150k, no debts, nice car etc, women are magically attracted to me. So I only look for women with skinny waist and D-Cups. I will say what women say that do not date short men, "it is a preference". I am open-minded and not a hypocrite.

I'm 5'3, I overcomed other body issues but I can't change my height, its killing me cause every time I'm like walking on the streets I never see a couple with a guy that's shorter than the girl and rarely see couples with the same height, 99% the guy is taller. I keep comparing my height to other guys and looking to other woman that are about my height or a little smaller, they're not even that beautiful but I would totally go for her but she would never go for me because a man with similar height doesnt work for her.

I feel the exact same way, for me personally I wouldn’t care what height someone is, cause there are so many people with amazing personalities, but are rejected by society by something they can’t control. I am a short man at 5ft 7in tall and I am okay with my height but people including my step mum made such a big deal of me being short when I was growing up for something I had no control over.

It is not that women do not date them, it is that they treat them like less of a man in every sense, show some respect.

Interesting Video, I agree with the thought of short women using tall men as arm candy. Tall men use short women as arm trophies inversely. At 6'2" I have only dated shorter men simply because I refuse to wait in line for a tall man and miss out on a quality gent. You mentioned that you're a foot shorter than me and criticized us tall women for gravitating toward tall men. As you put it "you're lucky to be 5'2" so you just contradicted your point that height should not or does not matter. Being short, you have a completey different experience than tall women and actually use it as cache. I feel that most short women are insecure and need validation from tall men, who are also insecure about their height. Tall women have the right to be comfortable with a man closer to their height and make appropriate preferences. That said, I have never dated a man taller than me and work well with self-actualized shorter men who know their worth as well. Heightism is a first world problem for sure and most people should focus on content of character instead. 😎

There is a socially optimal height, which I guess to be 5'7" for women, and 6'0" for men. Most women I know that are 5'7" or 5'8" want that "optimal" 6'0" men (and have the best chance of getting him). I am 5'9" and find it easier to date women who are 5'11" and are arguably "too tall."

Thank for for this video. Throughout my life my height has hindered me in the dating world. My height is 5’8. I’ve had a lot of experiences have been negative from online dating due to my height. I have a lot of stories that I can tell. I’ve even ran across a lot of women in my lifetime online that are 5’0-5’5 looking for men that are 6’0 feet and up. Those women have put it in their profiles about they want a guy that height and some I’ve tried to talk to they will bluntly tell me I’m too short. I’m glad there are women who have a view as you do and I hope your message reaches across to many people. Thanks again

Same with me. I'm also 5'8" and I have seen no end of profiles that literally read: "Do not message me if you are not 6ft, I will block you." or "F*** off if you're only 5'11" or under" or "6FT PLUS ONLY - CAN'T YOU MIDGETS F***ING READ?" This is from women in their 40s and 50s, who range from 5'0" to 5'6"

5'7"(170cm) male here. I am shorter than the average USA male's height, but am average for my ethnicity. I was typically ignored on dating sites but started getting attention when the pandemic hit. I get more attention in real life now, but it is because I workout and take care of myself. I even had one girl checking me out in front of her boyfriend when he wasn't looking. o_O I've dated women taller than me and didn't mind that they were taller than me.

No matter what you say women will want tall men, just like they want a chad. Its just the hand your dealt. Also there are plenty of tall men. I think the average hight in the UK is taller than 5'10.

Some of us bring this on ourselves. Even as a 5'6" guy, I had prejudices with women when I was younger. The blessing with me being rejected for my height really made me think about how I treated other people. And I've now been happily married for 11 years.

I hope nothing like that happens, but If it does, its out of my hands anyway. Sometimes, knowing that you don't have control and just living in the now is good enough. You talk like somebody that has been hurt a few times. It gets better.

I'm 5'7 and been with several girls. Having confidence, humor and an interesting life will help. Women should never be the main focus, most of the girls showed their interest when I wasn't looking. We can't control our height, and we can't control what other people are attracted to. It's ok to have preferences. I think we need to stop taking other people's preferences personally. There are women who reject short guys, there are men who reject fat women, there are men/women who reject blacks, blondes, brunettes, redheads, asians and the list goes no and on and on. All people have preferences, and guess what? It's completely ok. We can't control our height, race or skin color. But can control a lot of other things to make ourselves more attractive.

So it doesnt matter what else you bring to the table when she is not dating under 6ft no matter what. Obviously, being really rich is the cheat but who wants to be loved because of money haha

This video and the comments gave me some insight into why shorter guys are so self conscious about their height. I fell hard for a shorter guy online (he said he was 5'7'') and, it was like he couldn't accept that I was so into him... He was convinced I would not be attracted to him once we met in real life, so he said we should talk to other people... It was heart breaking because I was so into him....He never even gave us a chance. All I have to say, guys, is there are less shallow women out there looking for true connection. Don't close your heart to it if you find it...

Cultural conditioning definitely plays a huge role when it comes to the way height is perceived. Especially the influence Hollywood puts out as you'll never see a lady in a film with a shorter leading man. Even actors like Tom Cruise have to stand on a brick which is underneath the view of the camera shot, so his height looks acceptable next to his love interest in the film. Conditioning plays a huge role when you're growing up and being influenced by what you see. For instance in mediaeval times heavier woman were considered more desirable due to their weight being a sign of wealth, as most people were under fed back then. If Hollywood allowed leading men to be shorter than their love interests in films, eventually culture and Society would consider short men to be somewhat desirable. Not as desirable as tall men but the point is they would be accepted by a lot more women and heightism wouldn't be as severe as it is now. I'm 5-ft 6 and to be honest dating is a nightmare

I'm a 5'9 14yearold and I'll never be confident with my height, for some reason I always feel like I should be taller in order to be attractive, I don't know how I've cemented this conception of male beauty in my head at this age.

I'm pretty short though I'm good looking. I've went to many speed dating events and only ever got one match out of a hundred or so women. Recently, I did an online speed dating event (where no one could tell my height) and I matched with almost every girl at the event. I think it's telling how important height is.

Dating apps are not for short guy's, short to average guy's, your area is mostly in real life. It's very brutal talking to girl's mostly cause all of them feel they can be rude any time of the day but yeah it's girl's and no one should insult them in anyway but they can do it to you,right.

I'm 5'6 and I don't care, others seem to care much more than I do. I know myself, my values and abilities, so I absolutely know it's their loss. But if height is the metric they require to live a good happy life, so be it. It doesn't make sense to me, but then I am not female. My ideal woman is someone kind and compassionate and intelligent. I wouldn't want to date a shallow woman because such woman are typically unfaithful, materialistic, and misguided in their judgement anyway, the antithesis of my ideals. So god made me this height to filter out the woman that are incompatible and not worth my time, and I'm grateful for it and everything else I have. Napoleon, Bruce Lee, and Alexander the Great were also about 5ft6. If even these extraordinary men aren't good enough for women, then I know I'll never be. I don't think about women anymore, I have other ambitions in my life now and they will be more rewarding.

If a guy is shorter than girl but his height is sufficient then its not look odd. I totally against that guys must always be taller than girl. It creates differentiation among short n tall. Tall girls tall guys, tall guys short girls but why not tall girls short guys.

It's creating tall ass women that are less attractive than their shorter mothers & grandmothers were. When are men going to be honest that we find tallness in women as unattractive as women find shortness in men? Stop sparing their feelings, they don't do it with us. Taller more masculine daughters is what women are *selecting* for when they have this 6 ft only standard, unless they themselves are extremely short.

There’s one lady on KZread who suffers from Dwarfism and she said her mother was 5 foot 7 and the Dad was 6 foot 3 inches.

I'm 5'5" and I've never had a problem getting attractive gf's, including the one I raised a family with, and I dated a lot of taller girls who treated me great, but I don't worry one second about a person who rejects me. I probably got rejected over a hundred times for the dozen or so that dated me, but I don't remember them, so it's not a part of my identity. A bad self image is a choice, I really love myself a lot, I wouldn't be anyone else. But for women, I think they should try this: if shorter height in a man is TRULY such a personal turn off that you could never sexually function with one, you should absolutely maintain your standards; but if the height issue is because of some social pressure from friends or concern for your image, or how you'll look together in pictures, you should try to let that go and see what happens.

As a short guy myself 5'3 i gave up in my teens as it was obvious what the girls wanted and nothings changed, women only want the tall men and will mock the short ones either to their face or as a off hand remark. as a short guy all you have to do to prove this point is when out observe how you are treated by women compared to tall men.

this isn't true (the title). never listen to people's standards. "never say never in the case of pleasure" lol. just because your genetics prevent you from scoring some points doesn't mean there are ways to gain points in different categories. what happens is: the myth goes around that women don't want short dudes, short dudes lose confidence and lose out, not because of their height, but they lose to their self-esteem and blame it on the height, and starts a bad cycle it's true that women aren't out here looking for dudes under 6'0, but it's really just about how you carry yourself and what you bring to the table, and i don't mean money, i mean a personality i'm 5'6, 140lbs. if you think you're struggling because of your height, stop. go do some push ups, change your diet, and if you're introverted, go out and talk to women, don't even ask for numbers, and i bet, before you know a chick will you ask you for yours. there is too many lonely women in the world for dudes to be feeling lonely too lol just don't take the rejection personal

Would you say the same about guys being shallow? Guys are shamed for having any preference imaginable, let alone ones based on immutable characteristics whereas women can have a laundry list of super shallow standards and if you question it you are also shamed. I think there needs to be a happy balance where people are encouraged to be realistic and less shallow.

I'm 5'10 at 16, and I've still been shamed as it were by girls for my height. My Dad was 6'5, so don't worry bout me, I'll grow. The revenge glowup will be real.

It’s biological..women want feel protected and safe and women associate this with taller guys especially, if they are fit, the biological effects of men cause them to be attracted to the “hour glass” or “coca cola” shape..because it tells men that her hips to shoulder width ratio mens she may bear children easier thus ensuring the survival of his genetics. Which is what all mammals/animals are biologically wired for. There’s tons of published scientific research that supports this.
