Review of Short & Male as a Short Man

Ойын-сауық

It is not a disability, but there are some who see it that way. I just wanted to discuss this and talk about my day to day living as a short man as well. This goes on longer than my usual video, but I felt it was important to speak up after watching the documentary and seeing what other men go through. www.imdb.com/title/tt1190884/

I hear you, Shannon. I'm a 5'5 ex-marine who put my life on the line to defend my country, and yet women have always treated me like garbage because of my height. Like this one time, I overheard some woman talking to her friend about how there aren’t any decent men in the world anymore. About ten minutes later, I came up to her and introduced myself and to ask if they would like to join me in a game of pool. She looked me up and down and said: “Gross, you’re like only five feet tall, you’re not even a real man what made you think I would talk to you?” and turned her back to me as some other people in the immediate area laughed. Tall guys don't realize how lucky they are not to have to deal with the crap that us short guys have to deal with...

I go through this, no one listens to me, doctors don't listen, work colleagues don't listen, it's implied I am incapable of dealing with anything or defending myself, I have had men tell me they will deal with someone if I need , I get the jokes about my height all the time and I am treated like I am stupid, people make me feel so emasculated for being short, I don't bother with friends as I am fed up with being seen and treated as less and as for women I gave up long ago, the way I see it life is a waste of time and pointless, your videos are great content.

I am also 5ft4.When I was single I was always rejected on dating sites because of my height. I am cool with being short and have been after college. I had one job where my boss was a woman who was 6ft3 and wore heels, I was ok with it-being below her shoulders. Of course everyone laughed and made fun of us standing together. She said she was used to towering over men and said I was the only man who didn't try to distance himself from her. And by way, they had a clip on Entertainment Tonight 0f a Brazilian woman who is 6ft10 married to a man who is 5ft4. It will give you an idea of what us short guys look like next to a super tall woman/ Her name was Elisane. So this 5ft4 guy (5ft3 & 1/2 to be honest), is cool with being shortet person at work or party. Only regret is not being able to reach thinks at grocery store; and I am not ashamed to ask a taller woman to help me.

Shannon, this was a good review. A few years ago I had a friend that was about six six, he lost both of his legs in Iraq and was in a wheelchair for a long lime. Eventually they fitted him with legs, but they were significantly shorter. He was barely five foot if that. He told me how it felt to finally be walking after so much time, but felt immaculated after seeing how people would treat him.

@@jimbojimbo6873 to be 5 foot or barely 5 foot for man sounds like it would be basically a death sentence… I’m thinking it would be terrible life to live. I wrote before that women like 5 foot men and they are treated well at work but I have seen some shorter dudes at the office (not as short as 5 feet that’s just insane) but like 5 foot 4 inches and they are treated like crap by girls in office and also blamed for, everything that goes wrong. Also one guy is like 5 foot 3 and he has his boss steal all his work and say he basically does nothing and everybody just assumes it’s true because he’s so tiny. I feel for these guys now. I’m thinking there is discrimination against these short guys. Discrimination is treating somebody different due to something they can’t control and short guys seem to definitely get that… if not more than other groups that have legal protections against discrimination

I haven't had much luck with women but at the same time I live a hermit lifestyle mostly and only interact with people at my job which isn't people oriented to begin with. It just sucks to read online stuff about how if you're a short dude you're pretty much screwed with getting any woman or getting a good paying job which I really hope is not true but I know well enough guys around our height clearly have the odds stacked against us. Sounds like an interesting watch. It does seem an odd thing that short men are seen as a figure of fun. I am 5ft 7.5 and I am probably not classed as short but I do feel it at times. Girls almost always seem to prefer taller guys too. It's very rare you see a couple and the girl is taller than the guy, except in circumstances where the girl is really really tall. Height does not equate to worth, nor does weight or beauty but to a lot of people it absolutely does and that's a sad sad fact. What really is disgusting though is where people see smaller or less beautiful or heavier as lacking in intelligence also. It sucks being smaller, especially at gigs or trying to get served in busy pubs/bars etc, where you constantly get overlooked. 😖

How can you say there is no height discrimination and then you go on with example after example of how you have been discriminated against? I’ve seen all these KZread videos where short men have to go out of their way to say it’s not as bad as other discrimination. I would argue that with DEI and other discriminations being very publicized short men have more discrimination nowadays than most other groups. For example look at hiring at jobs they will go on and on about how they just hired blacks or women and pat themselves on the back. Look at dating shows like bachelor or love is blind many many minorities but not a single short man. And many of the women will say I don’t care what color he is or religion or whatever… as long as he’s tall. So how is this not discrimination?

There's so much to say.. All these shitty things many of us go through tend to make us stronger if not better.. I want to live in a society that celebrates our similarities and differences. I like to give and take jabs in jest, but there's a difference between joking and trying to hurt people.. I think just about anything can be funny and made fun of. And I don't want to get too politically correct to the point we can't have fun with one another. But we have to concider the feelings of others around us that may take it to heart.. It goes further than race, gender, sexual orientation and religion. I would never wish for someone to go through things that were hard for me.. I believe you wouldn't be as cool as you are, if you were over 6ft tall. You'd probably be cool, but not as cool. You're a dynamic individual, with too many attributes to list.
