Why Do We Love Burpees?

Ойын-сауық

Why do we do burpee workouts? Why do we perform what is a much maligned exercise which is looked on with disdain by most of the population?
We do them because we recognise the qualities they bring once we have got past the initial phase of pain.
This was inspired by a video by ‪@Caden_kowal‬
You can find the video here
• “Thank You Burpees” Vi...
I wish to turn this into a challenge so to speak.
I nominate 3 burpee practitioners to make a similar video explaining why we do burpees. In turn, I want them to nominate 3 people each and so on
The 3 I nominate are
‪@busydadtraining‬
‪@DavidWhitten‬
‪@Cuevasmoses‬
Hopefully this takes off and we can spread the word. The word being that burpees are a thing of beauty

Agree 100%. I’m 62, been doing Burpees since I was 15. 300 daily, takes 20-30 minutes. RARELY miss a day. My health is outstanding. Burpees make you physically and mentally tough. They make you resilient. The conditioning effect carries over to everything else. It’s always people who don’t have what it takes deep inside to man up that gripe about Burpees. They are just weak of mind and spirit

Big facts! I’m going on year 2 or so of being consistent with burpees and when people come to me who wanna get fit and ask me “where do I start?” I always point them towards burpees. They suck, they are brutal and you feel pain and suffering, but just like you said, you start feeling addicted!

I really struggled at the start and I was reasonably fit. Heavy but fit enough to box. I tried burpess and I was bollox'd. So I decided to build up with squats and push ups. I got to 250 push ups and 300 squats , I was then able to do 100 2 pump... if youre starting from no where my advice would be get the volume up on press ups and squats first. If you're not doing squats, especially , you will struggle with burpess

BURPEES Were invented by Royal Burpee in 1939..They gained popularity in WW2 as a way to evaluate strength endurance and agility for soldier's. Best compound movement that works virtually every muscle if the body. It's a jailhouse favorite tha just requires you and the floor. Plus Burpees enable you to raise your Testosterone.....Variations are limitless Sets or intervals ..I've been doing them since my H.S. wresting days....Great to get cut up! LET'S GO!!!!!!

Love the video, great motivator for people that need it. I’ve been doing them (burpees) 6 days a week for a few years now, I do a 10 rep set of 1 pumps, 2 pumps, 3 pumps, navy seals, and finish with 5 pumps, the Iron Wolf fat burner routine. I also do an abs routine and 20 minutes on a Bow Flex trainer. 59 years old and feel great.

I think that the people hate the burpees with the jump included. The ones you do aren't as scary although they are way more demanding when it comes to conditioning because you can do way more of reps and you can do them regularly unlike the ones with the jump. You do 50 of those and if you're untrained you're done for the week.

The jump is a burpee variation, it was not part of the original exercise. Also, when you remove the jump, you can get into a steady and more controlled rhythm, leading to higher rep counts. It’s also a lot easier on your knees and ankles.

I do them everyday. Its taken me some time for my body to adjust to doing them everyday, if my body is sore and tired i have a day or 2 off and walk instead, but basically do them everyday, i prefer navy seals with a 2 squat chaser or 2 pump and 2 squat chaser to keep everything balanced and they build muscle, just go slow and concentrate on the movement. Im 51 now and weight lifted most of my life, now burpees is my main excersice, with 2/3 times a week il do some pull-ups or some sort of back activation move.
